Je viens de me voir proposer un job en jamaique, et j'ai decide d'accepter cette opportunite. Je vais partir en famille (ma femme et 2 enfants de 8 et 7 ans). Comme j'ai beaucoup lu sur ce pays surtout en matiere de securite (mais jamais visite), j'amerai bien savoir surtout:
1- Quel est le cout de la vie (pour un resident).
2- Peut on vivre ave 1500 Euros par mois (la maison est gratuite pratiquement).
3- L'ecole pour les enfants est elle bien?

pour ce qui est de la securite la bas, je n'ai jamais rencontre le moindre probleme, le tout est de rester cool, poli et respectueux et d'avoir un esprit assez ouvert et d'oublier un peu notre sale mentalite d'europeen (chacun pour soi)
quand a savoir si tu as assez pour vivre la bas avec 1500 euro par mois, c'est de 3 a 5 fois le salaire moyen la bas donc no problem
maintenant ce qui est cher en jamaique ce sont les voitures (meme prix qu'en france ou en belgique), l'electricite aussi est assez chere mais sinon le reste est tres bon marche
si tu veux des renseignements plus precis sur toutes les demarches et autres contactes bob et martine du jamaicancolors, je suis sur qu'ils pourront te donner tout les renseignements dont tu auras besoin et qui sait nous nous verrons peut etre la bas d'ici quelques mois (nous y serons pendant un mois en fevrier 2008)
Mrci pour cette info. Cela m'encourage en effet. Enfin mon inqietude est mes deux gosses. On m'a dis que les ecoles public ne sont pas mals mais il est preferable d'envoyer ces enfants dans des ecoles privees. Des informations sur le cout seraient les bienvenues.

Romain le fils de Bob et Martine est arrive en jamaique a l'age de 15 ans et a lui aussi ete dans une ecole publique en jamaique pendant quelques mois (le probleme c'est qu'il etait le seul blanc de l'ecole donc toutes les filles etaient "amoureuses" du petit blanc ce qui lui a valu de la part des gars un peu de "jalousie" )donc il a demande a ses parents pour suivre ses cours par correspondance
ce qui peut etre une solution car je n'ai aucune idee du prix demande dans les ecoles privees mais je vais essayer de savoir le prix demande pour une annee scolaire

C'est super que tu puisses travailler en Jamaïque. Je te souhaite de ne pas être dans Kingston dont certains quartiers ne sont pas fréquentables. Coté salaire avec 1500 € tu vivras bien. Cependant, la nourriture en supermarché reste élevée. Le marché local est plutot bon marché mais si tu es métropolitain (blanc) tu risques de te faire arnaquer facilement.
La Jamaïque est une très belle île, profite en au maximum en restant cool et zen.
La population parle le patois (broken english) et est très impliquée spirituellement. Attention même sur une ile comme la Jamaïque tu auras droit aux embouteillages.
Lorsque tu arrives fais toi enregistrer à l'Ambasse de France. L'alliance Française est située tout juste à coté. La directrice est une martiniquaise très sympathique. Il ya très peu de français sur l'île environ une cinquantaine (enregistrés).
Pour ma part j'aimerais y retourner mais à condition d'avoir un job sur place. Donc si tu entends que l'on recherche merci de me faire signe.
Si tu désires plus d'info n'hésite pas à me questionner.
Pour le cout de la vie, contrairement à ce qu'on pourrait croire, faire les courses coute plutot cher! surtout si tu recherche des produits "occidentaux" (jambon, fromages, yaourts...) mais on se fait rapidement à acheter d'autres choses et à cuisiner differemment. (Et pour le fromage, le jambon et le nuttella, si tu es sur Kingston, il y a quelques adresses à connaître que l'on te donnera sur place: il y a un petit reseau de francophone qui aime beaucoup manger...😉)
Vivre avec 1500 euros par mois c'est possible (surtout qu'en ce moment l'euro est bien plus haut que le dollars US et que le dollars Jamaicain) Le fait que le logement soit gratuit est un atout de taille: se loger convenablement avec femme et enfants dans un quartier sûr et sympa ça coute cher aussi! En parlant de sécurité: la jamaique est un pays qui ne "craint" pas plus qu'un autre! Du moment que tu evite certain quartiers à certaines heures(surtout en ce moment avec les elections qui ont lieu à la fin du mois) sinon tu prends les même precautions qu'ailleurs.
L'école pour les enfants: je ne sais pas si tu t'es déjà renseigné, où tu arrive, et avec quelle entreprise... tout ce que je peux te dire c'est que sur Kingston il y a de tres bonne écoles (des écoles Jamaicaines, une école américaine, et même une "french Unit" qui a été crée par l'entreprise Bouygues au sein d'une école jamaicaine, avec un prof français et des cours du Cned et même un ramassage scolaire!)
