J'ai une attirance particulière pour l'Afrique que j'aimerais découvrir en combinant avec ma passion de la moto. J'aimerais partir 15 à la découverte du Maroc et c'est là que se pose les questions!
Peut on camper ou l'on veut?
Est raisonnable d'y aller seul?
pour info, je suis un garcon de 21 ans, un gout prononcé pour l'aventure, ma moto est une suzuki trail- enduro DR 350 (conso de 5.5litres/100), réservoir de 16 litres j'ai également de bonnes notions de mécanique.
Je suis de Belgique et mon problème est d'arriver à Fes avec la moto car traverser la france en enduro, c'est très très long...Quelqu'un a t il une idée?
J'aimerais y aller fin Aout 2007, est ce supportable en température?
Peut on en profiter en 15 / 20 jours?

si j'ai bien compris tu te rends au MAROC en moto c'est une tres bonne idée comment compte tu passer au MAROC par l'espagne ou prendre le ferry a SETE qui moins fatiguant est le cout sensiblement le meme.tu arrive a TANGER.
ensuite evidement MARRAKECH incourtournable .essaouirra magnifique port a 160kms de marrakech puis agadir .direction sud vers ouazarzate. tarroudant .tres beau pays tres accueillant au probleme de securité des camping oui mais de modeste camping mais sans soucis.enfin c'est un pays tres sur nous nous y rendons regulierement avec les enfants.surtout n'hesite pas .si tu as des questions . bon debut d'annee .un amoureux du MAROC
j'ai lu ton post, c'est tentant, car moi aussi je suis un fana de la moto mais plutot 4 roues. J'ai sillonné le Maroc en Quad, tu n'as aucun souci à te faire, toutes les routes et autoroutes sont pleines de stations services (a voir ta capacité de reservoir). L'itineraire que je peux te conseiller, de tanger tu passe par la cotiére a Tetouan (50km) puis vers Hoceima (belles plages vierges, tu pourra faire skier ton enduro sur le sable), puis passe par Oujda. D'oujda tu prend la direction de Taza et Fez (forets et oliviers à perte de vue), de Fez reparts sur Midelt (montagnes) puis Errachidia et enfin la magnifique Merzouga (le paradis des enduros). De Merzouga des belles routes de motards vers Ouarzazate, Marrakech puis Agadir. Au retour tu prends les villes cotiéres, Agadir-Essaouira, Eljadida, Casablanca, Rabat, Kenitra, Larache, puis Tanger.
20 jours serai l'idéal, pour les campings, tu en trouvera dans tous les villages et toutes les villes. Pour les grandes villes je te conseil l'IBIS, ca te permettra de te rafraichir mieux que les campings. Le prix du super ou du sans plomb tourne autour de 10 Dhs (0.90€) Dans les villages oublie la carte bancaire, dans les villes sans souci. (Mais demande toujours avant de faire le plein)
En cas de crevaison, tu trouvera des reparations sur les grandes avenues des villages, en ville il suffit de demander, generalement tu en as presque dans chaque station service.
Réparation mécanique, les mecanos Marocains sont trés doués, si par malheure tu as besoin de reparer ta moto, tu trouvera toutes les piéces qu'il te faut dans les villes (Precise si tu veux du neuf ou presque neuf).
Climat: Sur le circuit aller, en Aout tu devra t'attendre a des temperatures entre 27° et 40°, sur le retour sauf exception, tu aura des brises douces, avec 25° et 30°.
Equipe toi d'un beau casque routier, evite les casques cross, car dans certaines regions les routes sont poussiereuses et des petits lots de moustiques, dans ta visiere pourra vite fais se salir.
Le reseau GSM couvre la totalité du pays, aussi prevoit une assurance personnel et remorquage quand tu arrive a Tanger, au petit souci tu te fais remorquer gratos (45€ par An). note les numéros utiles: Police 190, Ambulance: 150 et gendarmerie royale: 170, Renseignements: 160.
Pour un parcours amusant, je te conseilles d'etre à deux minimum, ca rigole mieux. En plus a plusieurs vous pourrez campez dans toutes les forets, nature 100%.
Avec le circuit que je t'ai donné, tu es sur de découvrir le Maroc à 80%.

L'assurance c'est une simple assurance, il faut donc juste une piece d'identité et payer et c'est dans la poche. C'ete juste une securité pour eviter de payer la depanneuse en cas de panne. Et en meme temps elle te couvre pour le rapatriement sanitaire, soins, et autres aléas de la vie. Tu peux aussi demander a ta banque en Belgique si ils offrent ce genre de produit à leurs clients, c'est commun dans les banques meme au Maroc.

J'étais au Maroc Fin octobre en BMW R1150 GS et J'ai traversé L'ATLAS du Nord au sud pour ensuite me rendre en MAURITANIE et au SENEGAL .
Je me suis basé sur les guide GANDINI pour faire mon itinéraire au Maroc. avec une 350 Dr tu vas bien t'amuser, je pense qu'il serait bien que tu installes un réservoir plus important sur ta moto car dans les montagnes on ne trouve pas beaucoup de stations essence .
les Marocains sont très accueillants et il ne faut pas hésiter à s'arrêter pour parler avec eux. Tu trouveras des petits camping sympas près des villes

Le nombre de motos est ridiculement faible au Maroc, il n'y a aucune pièce ! l'importation du moindre kit chaine, peut prendre des mois!!!!
J'ai parcourru le Maroc avec une 1150 GS en 2003...extraordinaire!!!

Bonsoir Xavmin, j’ai lu avec intérêt cette conversation. Je projette de faire un voyage au Maroc en moto juillet ou aout. Effectivement en trouvant un moyen d’éviter autant que possible les routes européennes. (bateau ou transpor camion...)
Je me poses toutefois quelques questions :
Je roule en BMW R80 (moto d’une dizaine d’années mais en parfait état 15MKm) que j’ai racheté ily a 3 ans. Ce n’est donc pas une RGS ce que j’aurais préféré, mais je crois qu’en changeant les pneus et en adaptant un bidon de réserve elle sera apte à prendre toutes les pistes voulues (sauf sans doute le sable fin). – j’ai pas mal roulé en moto (tenere) au Sénégal, Guinée mais ça fait longtemps déjà.
Autre point, je prends ma femme sur la moto. ? realiste ? je n'aime pas trop le bithume mais je roule cool sur les pistes.
J’ai vu que tu avais fait le trajet sur Dakar par la Mauritanie. Vieux rève que j’espère réaliser si mes vacances au Maroc se passent bien.

Je partage ta passion pour la moto aventure.
Je connais l'excellent Suzuki 350 DR et j'ai moi-même un YAMAHA 600 XTE.
Le MAROC est génial à découvrir en enduro mais jamais à prévoir en solo.
Par sécurité je te conseillerais de partir avec un pote équipé et passionné comme toi .
La meilleure période est le mois de juin car la chaleur y est salutaire et supportable.
Après avoir parcouru le Maroc une fois à moto côté sud et une autre fois en quad côté Atlantique nous avons fait confiance au "Guide du Routard" qui nous a indiqué des renseignements précieux sur les pistes praticables et sur les lieux d'hébergement sympathiques.
Afin d'épargner les pneus enduro et d'éviter de se casser le dos sur la route jusque là-bas nous avons pris l'avion pour MARRAKECH et nous nous sommes éclatés 7 jours en bécanes de location puis au retour nous avons arpenter les souks. On ne s'en lasse pas...

J'envisage aussi ce type de trip (tour du maroc), est ce que vous pensez que c possible avec une routière? ma bécane est une yamaha 600 xjn (roadster basique) je l'ai depuis 2 ans elle est robuste, pas compliqué comme mécanique, mais en dehors des routes je doute de ses aptitudes TT. Y'a t'il beaucoup de portions de pistes pour un trajet comme celui decrit + haut par un quadiste? D'après certains de mes amis marocains ce serait faisable même en gsx-r, mais je les soupconne de chauvinisme...
J'y suis allé par la route et quelle regualade meme si c'est un peu long, surtout pour le retour...Le voyage, d'autan plus à moto, commence quand on ferme la porte de la maison. C'est un vehicule extra qui lie les gens. A Bordeaux, un motard m'a preté son canapé pour y passer la nuit, j'ai dormi sous la tente dans les Pyrennee puis traversé l'Espagne en une seule journée. 21 jours de voyages dont 17 au Maroc et 9000 kms. La moto m'a bien plus couté en carburant que moi meme...mais elle m'a apporté un contact immediat avec les marocains. Chaleur humaine, interet pour l'engin, inquietude quant à mon confort...ils ont tous été...acceuillants!
Je n'ai jamais été freiner de prendre telle ou telle piste bien que ce fut une pur routière de 220 kg sans les bagages qui etaient bien evidement beaucoup trop importants. D'ailleurs, le reseau routier etait plutot en bon état malgré quelques saignées dans le goudron. Le rythme de conduite y est cool si on veut voir autre chose que le meme goudron...Donc faut faire leger pour les bagages: fait ton sac puis enleve la moitié et t'en a encore trop!!! La sacoche d'outils d'origine suffit. Tu remplace ceux en carton par d'autres de bonne qualité et c'est bon. Indispensable pour moi: la bombe anti-crevaison et le bidon d'essence. Celui-ci m'a permis de depanner un marocain près d'Agadir qui m'a ensuite offert gite et couvert...
Jamais de probleme de vol, je laissais TOUT sur la moto pendant des heures m'etant assuré qu'un gosse la gardait pour quelques sous. Pareil pour les rares nuits à l'hotel. Prendre son baise en ville, dire au patron que tu laisses tout le reste et crois-moi que tu retrouves absolument tout le lendemain.
J'ai meme été dormir dans les dunes, tout seul, le grand moment! Le plus beau etant je crois le levé du jour.
1 seul plan chaud, le remonté du Rief, de Fes à Sebta. Beaucoup de trafiquants agressifs qui veulent te vendre un gros morceau.
Traversée puis arrivée à Algesicas vers 17h et roulage de nuit. Traversée des Pyrennée à l'aube, froid et beau et arrivée à Valence vers 20h. Pour la premiere fois de ma vie, je m'etais endormi sur la moto. Grosse frayeur, gros freinage et gros dodo derriere une station service.
Un copain m'a supporté des heures à lui raconter ce voyage, il a acheté un 800 dr et 2 pneus à tetines fixées sur le garde boue, puis gaz. Il a fait monté ses pneus enduro au Maroc, s'est promené avec pendant 5000 kms et les a fini sur le trajet du retour.
Un super voyage tout près de chez toi, un continent entier qui s'ouvre, une culture, une couleur, un parfum et le souvenir une fois revenu.

Bonjour a tous mes chers collegues motards je suis de paris et j'ai 23 ans et j'ai lu tout ces beaux récits.
J'ai un CBR 954 RR de 2003 et je souhaite aussi partir au maroc en moto mais le probleme c'est que j'ai une super sportive donc a mon gout pas assez adapter pour ce genre de circuit mais l'avantage que j'ai c'est que je suis d'origine marocaine et je connais beaucoup de monde dans les principales villes marocaine (tanger, rabat, kenitra mohamedia et casa sans oublier marrakech et agadir)
La question serai de savoir si il est possible de partir de Sete au maroc en supersportive et si cela n'est pas trop dangeureux?

j'ai un bmw 650 scaver et je suis allé sans probleme au Maroc, il suffit d'etre un peu prudent car les ânes n'ont pas encore de clignotants, mais le reste tout est ok, si ta moto accepte n'importe quel carburant, pas de pb pour l'essence en pensant de bien faire le plein souvent car des fois les etapes sans station peuvent etre longues, mais il y a bcp plus de station qu'en France où il ne reste plus que les super marchés et les autoroutes...je t'aurais bien accompagné mais la période me parait un peu chaude mais sait on jamais, mais tous ont raison c'est bien mieux de partir à deux ! ne serais ce que pour la sécurité (sur route pas dans les villages aucun pb) bon courage et poursuit ce projet !

Je pensais organiser ce voyage mais uniquement pour faire de la route comme tu peux t'en douter. Je ne connais pas trop le maroc à part marrakech, par contre je parle couramment la langue. New to the forum, but not so new to Asia 😄
I’m Nico, from Switzerland, currently based in Bangkok. I love taking my motorcycle out to get lost in the mountains and small villages of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and more. I’ve been roaming around this area for a good fifteen years now, racking up quite a few kilometers—especially in northern Vietnam.
This time, I finally decided to tackle the Mae Hong Son Loop, clockwise. I’d been to Pai several times before, but oddly enough, I’d never done the full loop.
So, I’ll try to give you a little recap here, day by day, with the roads, stops, places worth checking out… and those that didn’t quite blow my mind 😅
I also filmed the trip, so I’ll post the corresponding video at the end of each day if that’s okay. If it’s not allowed here, just let me know, and I’ll remove them without any issue.
DAY 1 — Chiang Mai → Doi Inthanon → Mae Chaem → Khun Yuam
I left Chiang Mai after renting a Honda ADV 160 from Pop Motorbike. Not exactly an Africa Twin, but for what I had planned, it was more than enough.
Quick hotel note: I stayed at the Lanna Thaphae Hotel before leaving. Around 30 € per night, super well-located, and probably one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. A crucial detail for any motorcycle road trip, obviously.
The plan for the day was pretty straightforward:
Head toward Doi Inthanon… and see what happens.
Flawless Swiss organization.
First stop along the way at Wachirathan Waterfall. A really nice waterfall, very easy to access, but don’t expect to channel your inner Indiana Jones—it’s crowded, touristy, and swimming isn’t allowed. Still, it’s a pretty stop along the way.
Next, up to Doi Inthanon.
The road climbs steeply, and my little 160cc started to realize that carrying my 80 kg to Thailand’s highest point probably wasn’t part of its youthful dreams. I was maxing out at 34 km/h in some spots.
But it made it. Good little bike.
The summit is nice—the forest is beautiful, and it’s cool—but I have to admit, it didn’t completely wow me. Glad I went, but not necessarily the highlight of the day for me.
Because then comes Route 1192.
And that’s *much* more my thing: small mountain roads, beautiful scenery, hardly any traffic… the kind of road where I usually start taking way too many unnecessary detours just because a little side road “looks fun.”
Stopped in Mae Chaem for a bite to eat, then headed to Khun Yuam to finish the day.
A little over 200 km in total.
Khun Yuam is… quiet.
*Very* quiet. 😅
A cute little market, a couple of cafés/restaurants, and zero chance of ending up in a club until 4 AM. But after a day on the bike, it was perfect.
Stayed at the Mit Khun Yuam Hotel, around 20 € for a small but very decent room.
All in all, a solid first day and a pretty relaxed start to the loop. Part of this leg is mostly about getting out of Chiang Mai and really diving into the mountains, in my opinion.
Because for me, the really interesting stuff starts over the next two days…
And a few slightly questionable route decisions will also make an appearance 😅

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

I’m Paul, 37, and I’ve already done a bit of riding in Morocco.
For now, I’m solo, riding a 1998 SUZUKI DR 650 with some basic gear to keep things smooth. I’ll have a tent so we can do a few nights under the stars.

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?
