Nous sommes un jeune couple belge ayant des billets aller-retour Bruxelles-Alger pour la période du 13 ou26 juillet 2007 et pleins d'interrogations...
Concrètement, nous avons réservé nos vols quelques jours avant les attentats d'Alger et beaucoup de choses nous déconseillent aujoud'hui de partir (Site de l'ambassade, médias...), si vous connaissez bien l'Agérie, pourriez-vous nous dire si il est prudent ou non de s'y rendre cet été?
De plus, notre ambassade nous demande une confirmation de réservation de logement pour la durée de notre séjour. Ce document est-il difficile à obtenir, quelqu'un a-t-il déjà une expérience belgo-algérienne sur ce?
Finallement, beaucoup nous conseille la côte est car plus sécurisée, qu'en pensez-vous?
Comme vous le constatez, je suis un peu perdue car je souhaitais parcourir l'algérie en routard mais apparemment c' est difficile ( auberges de jeunesse pas ouvertes pour les couples non mariés et peu fréquentables, nécessité d'obtenir une réservations d'hotel, instabilité politique...).

Je pense qu'il n y a aucun problème à ce que vous fassiez votre voyage...evidemment on ne vient pas en Algerie de la même manière que vous iriez en Tunisie ou au Maroc.. c'est parfois un peu compliqué mais c'est gerable quand même !..

En fait, une des conditions pour l'obtention de notre visa est d'avoir un document attestant que nous avons un logement sur place. Ce document peut provenir soit d'un particulier ( qui doit alors faire des démarches locales ) soit d'un hotel...
Je n'ai qu'une courte expérience d'un mois 22avril-22mai en Algérie, donc juste après les attentats.
J'y suis allée seule sans trop de contacts si ce n'est ceux échangés ici avec Tassili qui vit sur place.
Je suis restée deux jours sur les plages du nord, puis je suis descendue sur Gardaia en bus (seule) où j'ai passé 17 jours, avec un aller-retour sur tamanrasset et une visite éclair d'el golea qui mérite plus je pense.
J'ai été accueillie chez l'habitant, c'est de loin je pense le meilleur accueil pour échanger, prendre le mesure de la culture, des traditions....
J'ai rencontré deux touristes qui ont été au hasard des hotels 5 étoiles : pas d'eau, pas de draps propres etc....bref une expériences dont ils ont rie plus tard, mais vaut mieux aller dans des endroits qu'on vous aura conseillé, notamment sur ce forum par exemple.
Personnellement, j'en rentre ravie et sans la moindre expérience négative qui viendrait ternir les souvenirs.
Maintenant il est vrai qu'il te faut un certificat d'hébergement pour la totalité de ton séjour il me semble (même si tu fais de l'itinérant, il ne viendront pas controler où tu dors !), qu'il y a de nombreux barages de police ou militaire quand on commence à prendre les route du sud, mais ils ne font que relever l'identité, la nationalité et la destination (nous sommes peu habitués aux controles en europe avec l'ouverture des frontières, mais c'est comme ça)
C'est un pays extraordinaire...si besoin...

En Croatie, les panneaux se trouvent à l'avant des maisons, est-ce pareil en Algérie? Avais-tu eu toi aussi besoin d'un papier de reservation de logement pour obtenir ton visa?

je suis belche (de bxl) comme vous et algérien aussi. Depuis longtemps, je pars en vacances en Algérie et je vous avoue que je ne comprends pas cette image négative qui a du mal à changer. Après tout, il y a eu des attentats ds plein de pays sans autant de conséquences sur le tourisme. Ceci dit, il y a des risques quand même: probablement nettement moins à bab el oued que dans des favelas brésiliennes, mais il y a un risque réel de banditisme et un risque réel sur les routes (les algériens conduisent vite sans présumer des risques qu'ils encourent).
pour vos questions sur l'hébergement, je le regrette bien pour vous et ceux qui veulent aller en Algérie, la politique de l'Algérie est claire en la matière: une réciprocité avec tous les pays (même si les algériens ont mis un peu d'eau dans leur vin maintenant). En gros, l'Algérie demande les mêmes papiers aux Belges qui veulent se rendre en Algérie que la Belgique demande aux Algériens qui veulent venir ici. Mais bon la différence, c'est qu'avec cela, vous êtes sûrs d'avoir votre visa.
L'Algérie en routard ? oui c'est possible si vous avez un minimum confiance dans les gens et que vous pouvez avoir un chouette contact avec eux: vous serez souvent bien accueillis (sans certitude). Je crois (subjectivement) que c'est une de ces régions du monde ou on peut encore avoir des contacts non mercantiles avec les gens en étant touristes.
N'hésitez pas à donner vos coordonnées si vous avez plus de questions ou avez besoin de plus d'aide.
Soyez tranquille, tout est sécurisé mais mieux vaut aller sur la cote ou il est très facile de trouver de bons hotels car dans le Sud (Sahara) il faut réserver d'avance car les hotels sont généralement pleins vu les touristes qui affluent depuis qu'il ya des vols directs Paris-Tamanrasset.

Je crains que tu n'as pas tenu compte leurs dates de voyage en Algérie ! Je crois comprendre qu'ils veulent venir en Algérie durant l'été, alors expliques moi où ils vont dormir (sans être marié en plus...) en plein saison estivale !!! A Tamanrasset, les touristes ne vont pas dans les hôtels mais dorment à la belle étoile ! A Tam, c'est juste pour une nuit ou deux selon les visites et les voyageurs.... Entre la côte (le nord) et le sud (extrème)... il y a encore énormément de choses à voir et à visiter ! Et les hôtels qui acceptent les couples non-mariés sont assez rares alors il faut opter plutôt pour les chambres chez l'habitant !
Non la pratique est encore très "timide" et les chambres se trouvent soit par le système bouche à l'oreille, soit sur place .... Selon votre destination, je pourrai vous conseiller selon mes possibilités !
Pour le certificat d'hébergement, il faudra obtenir un hébergement à Alger d'un hôtel ou une auberge de jeunesse... Bcp d'auberges sont assez confortables (certaines sont refaites entièrement) et bien fréquentées.... malgré la simplicité... mais le pb c'est pour un couple, ce sont souvent des chambres dortoirs non-mixtes...

On peu parcourir l'Algerie en routard en trichant un peu, suffit d'avoir une reservation d'appartement puis aprés on est libre, ou alors reservez huit jours (payant) prés d'une agence du désert, atterrisez a Alger, voyagez pour vous y rendre, mais a ces dates le sud est trop chaud pour un belge ! Les auberges de jeunesses, ca s'arrange souvent et sinon, nous (couple franco algerien) prenons deux chambres (soit 2x3euros)et on en utilise qu'une, personne ne dit rien. Pour des raisons climatiques, il ne serait pas raisonnable de dépasser Gardaîa au sud ou Biskra au sud est a ces dates, ou alors aller par avion a Tamanrasset(plus frais) et y rester. On peut vous trouver une chambre chez un couple agé a Alger, vous devrez la réserver pour la durée du séjour et pourrez n'y passer que la 1ere et la dernière nuit si vous voulez, c'est proche de la gare routière qui déssert tout le pays

Je suis assez surprise de voir que vous désirez vous rendre à EL Golea, en plein été, quand les habitants cherchent à s'en éloignés (pur ceux qui peuvent se le permettre...) ! Quant à moi, j'y ai déjà passé un été et je peux vous dire qu'il faut vraiment être motivé pour y séjourner durant cette période.... Il y a 10 jours, on frolait les 50° à l'ombre... même en ce moment, mes nouvelles quotidiennes vont dans le même sens... 40 à 50°....
Si vous avez des raisons sérieuses, j epeux le comprendre, sinon reportez votre escapade à plus tard ! Si c'est pour s'enfermer une grande partie de la journée, je ne vois pas l'intérêt....
Pour trouver une chambre d'hôtes, c'est tout à fait possible, bien que maintenant à cause des fortes chaleurs, tout le monde dort sur la terrasse ou dans le jardin (selon les possibilités - protection contre les scorpions--> jardins)....

Juste quelques précisions.... Le Sahara ne se résume pas uniquement à Tamanrasset... il ne faut pas oublier que le Sahara occupe 2/3 tiers de la surface de l'Algérie, qui fait 5 fois la superficie de la France !!!!
A Tam ou Djanet, les touristes ne restent pas en ville, bien au contraire.... c'est plutôt l'hôtel 1000 étoiles qui est retenu et qui n'est jamais plein !!!
Le sud commence déjà à Biskra.... en passant par Ghardaia.... Béchar.... une ligne grossière pour indiquer que Tam est en moyenne à 1600 km de ces villes.... !!! Il y a tant d'autres destinations : El Meniaa (El Golea), Ouargla, Timimoun, Adrar, Beni Abbès, Illizi, Ain Amenas, Ain Salah, etc, etc....!!!!!

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
