Is Brasília worth a visit?

Hi there, I’m not really into architecture, but I’ve always wanted to visit Brasília to see what a modern city built from scratch looks like, and I thought not many people lived there. After doing some research, I realize the city is actually quite crowded. As I’m planning my trip to Brazil, people keep telling me not to go, that I’ll be disappointed and it’s a waste of time.

For those of you who’ve been to Brasília, what do you think? Thanks for your replies. Anne

Hello, if you’re not into modern and contemporary architecture, you can definitely skip it…

For well-restored 18th-century old towns, you’ve got Paraty or Ouro Preto…

Brazil is a country where architects have been able to do things that would be tough to pull off back home—it’s one of the things I love about the place.

Thanks so much! I’m trying to plan an itinerary—the country is so huge that I’ll have to make some tough choices and skip certain things, especially since this’ll be my only trip to Brazil and my husband can’t get away for a whole month. Plus, for some regions like the Northeast, it’s not quite the right season.
