Tout d'abord, Merci à tous ceux qui m'aident à élaborer ce circuit !!!Bref rappel du contexte : Je prépare un circuit dans l'Ouest des USA + New-York ( 1 couple + 3 grands ados très "city" )
J'ai ouvert un nouveau sujet pour faciliter la lecture et tentant de tenir compte au maximum de toutes vos remarques.
J'ai enlevé la partie Moab pour simplifier le circuit ( lien ancien circuit ).
Il me reste un journée à caser : si vous avez des idées ? ( après Las Vegas )
Je ne sais pas trop comment gérer le soir et le matin à la Death Valley si je dors à Stovepipe Wells ?

Après une bonne journée d'excursions, alors on se relaxe à la piscine (Furnace Creek Ranch) et on admire la voute céleste et on écoute le silence, il n'y a pas meilleur endroit.
Vous apportez un portable? Je pense aux trois grands ados qui devraient bien avoir quelques messages à rédiger. Il y a une connexion gratuite à FC Ranch.
Et votre journée à caser, êtes-vous obligés de la caser?
Une journée relaxe où pour une fois il n, y a rien au programme, n'est-ce pas un peu ça aussi des vacances?
Mon conseil serait de conserver cette journée pour les envies, besoins ou autre nécessité. Votre programme est très chargé certains jours et vous aurez peut-être envie de souffler.
Votre tableau ressemble à ceux que je prépare avant de partir. Mais je n'avais pas réussi à mettre le dernier en ligne lorsque je demandais des suggestions. Donc, si vous pouviez me dire comment vous avez fait, cela m'aiderait pour la prochaine fois et je vous en remercie par avance.
Le plan n'est pas "sur papier" . Ce sont des copies écran google map et excel !
Pour la vallée de la mort je me suis rabattu sur Stovepipe wells quand j'ai vu le prix des logements.
par contre, j'ai vu qu'il y avait des dunes à voir à côté mais j'aurais souhaité avoir des suggestions sur l'organisation du soir et du matin.

2 manières de faire : avec paint : sur le tableau appuyer la touche Impr écran du clavier en haut à droite ( au dessus du plus), coller dans paint puis retailler avec paint et transformer en jpeg puis mettre en ligne faire avec un logiciel gratuit de copie écran ; j'ai pris celui-ci : lien
( je n'ai pas eu de soucis avec pour l'instant ... ) : si vous zvez des doutes faites avec paint.
Mais j'avais bien compris cela d'où mes guillemets dans "sur papier" et de toute façon il pourrait s'imprimer, non?En effet loger à Stovepipes est "plus abordable" qu'au Furnace creek ranch; et pour les suggestions, si vous alliez au Visitor's center demander conseil aux rangers et prendre connaissance des activités au programme?
Plus allégé mais peut etre mieux pour vos ados "citadins" !
Moi je caserai bien la fameuse journée en "trop" pour Bryce quand meme qui est vraiment appercu trop vite fait si vous vous contentez du sunset a sunset point ... c est dommage pour ce parc quand meme qui meriterait un peu plus de temps avec au moins une petite balade a l interieur de l amphitheatre qui est tres facile et magnifique ! C est un des parcs qui impressionne le plus en géneral 😕...mais bon chacun ses gouts !
la fin avant de partir sur NYC est pas mal a mon avis y a pas vraiment besoin de rajouter encore 1 journée Vegas la vous y passez deja 3 nuits en tout ...
ou rajoutez vous cette journée a SFO si c est vraiment l aspect "ville" que vous voulez privilegier mais 3 nuits sur place c est déja pas mal ...
pour le jour 12 : comme la vous serez deja sur Page la veille, plutot que de refaire Horseshoe avant essayez du coup de faire les 2 canyons d Antelope! les 2 sont un peu differents et Lower est beaucoup moins surchargé donc plus plaisant a ce niveau ( je l ai trouvé perso + beau que Upper) ... a vous de voir !
je dirai peut etre 1 nuit a zion et 1 nuit a Bryce ( perso nous avions pris un hotel entre les 2 a Glendale) ca permettrait de pas se "chronometrer" ces journées si vous rajoutez une journée là en tous cas ...
Éventuellement, je peux ne pas réserver ce soir là afin de laisser un peu " d'aventure " et décider sur place voir en fonction ... ou un peu plus tard après réflexion.
Ca peut toujours etre fun de laisser un peu de place a l " aventure" mais pour aout a la derniere minute tu auras du mal a trouver un hotel assez bien placé c est certain🤪 !!...
Nous préférons ne pratiquement jamais réserver d'hôtel pour nous adapter sur place.
En août dernier il y avait de la place dans de nombreux établissements autour de Bryce et idem pratiquement partout sur notre circuit.
Nous partons à 2, mais nous aurions largement pu réserver 2 chambres à Bryce - enfin à Tropic. Mais il y avait aussi de la place chez Ruby and co, à l'entrée de Bryce. Nous aurions d'ailleurs pu en réserver 2 partout dans notre circuit de cet été.
La seule impossibilité aurait été de dormir dans les parcs - mais cela est déjà plein maintenant pour certaines dates de 2009. Nous préférons nous adapter sur place, car certains jours nous avions envie de rouler plus et d'autres moins, et parfois nous avons choisi de rester sur site.

Je ne sais pas si c'est un BUG mais c'est ralant car j'y avais passé du temps et il y avait plein de remarques super intéressantes de différents participants que j'allais revoir de temps en temps pour améliorer le circuit.
Si j'avais su j'aurais sauvegardé au fur et à mesure.
En plus cela aurait pu servir à d'autres (je pensais que le forum servait à cela !! )

Je n'avais pas vu ton circuit entier, il est plutôt pas mal et assez équilibré.
Death valley est ce qui nous a le moins plu: c'est long à traverser, peu de POI à part Zabriskie point et une chaleur à mourir (48° en juillet)
Yosemite et Tioga pass c'est superbe, mais à mon avis le détour pour entrer par le sud ne vaut pas la peine: quand nous avons quitté les USA fin juillet, toute la région de Mariposa brulait:renseigne-toi si il y a eu des degats!
Je trouve dommage que tu ne passes pas une journée à Bryce canyon, c'est vraiment celui que mes enfants ont préféré (à égalité avec ZION)
Pour l'Outlet à Vegas, prévois de la marge: la journée passe vite!
Vegas (le strip je suppose) à pied: méfie-toi, les distances sont longues et il fait chaud à Vegas, même à minuit. Petite anecdote: la journée tu fais ce que tu veux dans les hotels, le soir si tes enfants n'ont pas 18 ans l'entrée est interdite (sauf dans les buffets).
Dernier (humble) avis: je connais bien NY et ça me parait un peu long 4 jours à manhattan à pied qui plus est et à la fin du périple.
Utilise les bus Gray line à stops multiples et en plein air.

Tu penses qu'on ne va pas apprécier nos jours à New York aprs le voyage dans l'Ouest.
On voulait en profiter d'être "sur place" pour visiter cette ville car on ne reviendra pas de ci-tôt aux US.
On n'est pas obligés non plus de le faire à fond à la caisse.
A Stovepipe Wells, d'abord tu vas profiter de la piscine. Trop fort cet endroit au beau milieu de nulle part. Ensuite tu prend ta voiture, et juste à 1, 7 miles (c'est pas loin, mais à pied c'est pas possible vu la chaleur) et tu vas découvrir Mozaic Canyon. C'est tout simplement superbe, surtout en fin de journée.
Et ensuite, direction le resto : original et convivial. Le service est impec et le personnel très accueillant !
Le lendemain matin, très tôt, tu reprend la bagnole et juste....2 miles plus loin, tu vas sur les dunes. Splendide. Nous nous n'avons qu'un regret : n'être pas resté à Stovepipe Wells une nuit supplémentaire.
Quant à la journée à caser à Vegas, et surtout si tu as 3 ados, je te conseille les attractions délirantes au Stratosphère (les plus hautes du monde, un régal pour ceux qui aiment ça), Speed au Sahara et le rollercoaster au NYNY. C'est sur, ca va couter un peu...mais t'es à Vegas
PS : Peux tu m'envoyer en MP ton tableau Excel ? Je maitrise plutot Photoshop, ILlustrator et Indesign, mais avec Excel, je suis une brêle...
je trouve ton programme super mais vous aller beaucoup marcher et faire pas mal de voiture, ça m'inkiete un peu c fatiguant. j'ai voulu faire pareil en partant en Thailande faire un max de trucs et j'admets c't dur et finalement on a pas tous visiter. J'ai un ami ki reviens de new york et il m'a di ke ben comme tous la bas c vraiment grand alors si vou faite les ville k'a la marche vou verez peut etre pas tout. j'ai vu ke les passe pour le metro c pas trop cher, ça serait peut etre mieux, et puis mon pote m'a di ke le metro c sympa.
Je n'ai rien testé personnellement car j'ai de la famille à NY, mais j'ai des amis qui ont été enchantés du motel super 8 de North Bergen après le Lincoln Tunnel. Pas cher pour NY et très bien desservi, même de l'aéroport.
Manhattan est super à visiter et si tu veux vraiment "voir", le metro c'est pas le top!
Comme je te disais dans mon précedent message, tu peux prendre un forfait de 2 jours avec un tour-bus et ensuite t'arreter là où tu as apprécié.
C'est une idée comme une autre, mais à mon avis, à pied, tes ados en auront vite ras le bol.

Je suppose que quand TheDoms écrit "à pied", c'est par opposition à "voiture de location". Je suppose donc qu'il utilisera le métro pour se rendre dans le quartier désiré, qu'il explorera ensuite à pied.
Je suis d'accord aussi pour la découverte en bus. Ca fait vraiment touriste "vu d'en bas", mais c'est franchement super. Ca permet de voir les choses "de haut", de s'arrêter quand on repère un truc sympa (impossible avec le métro !), d'avoir une vue d'ensemble de la ville (où se trouve quoi par rapport à quoi - idem, impossible avec le métro), de continuer à découvrir tout en se reposant quand les ados sont fatigués... La ville défile devant les yeux, c'est un spectacle permanent. Sans parler des forfait visites combinées qui sont intéressants. Bref, moi je l'ai fait, alors que je connaissais pourtant bien NY, mais je trouvais que ce serait ludique pour les enfants, et franchement, je ne l'ai pas regretté une seconde.

Totalement faux 😠😠😠 On peut entrer n'importe où et à n'importe quelle heure et à n'importe quel âge. Il est juste interdit de s'arrêter dans la zone de jeux avec des enfants mais on peut traverser sans souci. Et 18 ans, ça ne représente rien aux USA c'est 21 ans pour jouer ou boire !
Et pourtant, pas plus tard que cet été, après un dîner au planet hollywood, alors que nous regardions tranquillement un karaoké sympa (même pas les machines ou les tables de jeu), un grand costaud nous a virés (pas d'autre mot qui convient) ainsi que quelques autres touristes accompagnés d'enfants ou d'ados!
Certes 21 ans est un age "légal" pour jouer ou boire, dans les faits, ils tolèrent cependant les badauds touristes à 18 ans s'ils sont accompagnés d'un adulte.
Après, c'est comme partout, ça dépend probablement du niveau de tolérance de l'individu et des $ que tu peux rapporter .
Nous avons pu assister sans aucun problème à un spectacle en soirée au MGM, ils crachent pas sur les clients non plus!
D'autre part tous les hotels n'appliquent pas le même degré de zèle.
Dons, même si les expériences des uns et des autres différent (et c'est ça la richesse) il n'en demeure pas moins que je ne dis pas n'importe quoi et que ce type de situation est tout à fait possible.

Il ne s'agit pas d'expérience personnelle ou pas 🤪 la règle est la même partout et c'est bien ce que j'ai écrit : On ne peut pas s'arrêter dans les zones de jeux avec des enfants !
On peut donc entrer où l'on veut, traverser à n'importe quelle heure mais ne pas marquer de stop près des machines. Il y a même des couleurs de moquettes différentes pour bien marquer ces zones.
D'ailleurs, on se demande bien comment, sinon, on pourrait aller dans les restaus ou revenir du parking sans jamais passer par une zone de jeux 😮
D'aure part, je voudrais bien savoir où on "tolére" des jeunes de 18 ans, sur les machines à sous ou dans un bar, même accompagnés ... ????
Aux USA, on plaisante rarement avec ce genre de détails car les casinos peuvent aussi être rendus responsables donc je doute qu'ils baissent les yeux là-dessus.

D'autant plus que si on vient de l'Ouest on fera cool pour cette fin de voyage.
Depuis il y a eu quelques évolutions et on devrait se croiser vers monument valley.
Les hotels sont déjà pratiquement tous réservés.
Je suis toujours en quête de bons plans comme les restos sympas et décontractés par exemple, avec cadres originaux, ou bien des activités pour ados.

Excusez moi de m'immisser mais j'envisageais d'aller voir le sunset sur les dunes (un 12 aout) ; Ca doit être beau aussi non ?...A moins que le service soit très lent au stovepipe et nous fasse rater le truc 🤪...et de partir tôt le matin pour le lever de soleil sur Zabriskie Point...

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I had planned a trip to Colorado in 2021 but canceled due to COVID, so with time passing and my eldest’s high school graduation approaching fast, I figured it was now or never!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
