J'ai fait un planning, mais j'aurais besoin de votre expérience pour savoir s'il est réalisable (niveau timing) et si il y a des choses incontournables que j'ai oublié!

Un MetroCard illimite de 7 jours est valable pour n'importe 7 jours consecutifs, donc tu peux l'utiliser des samedi. 7 jours est la periode minimum pour un MetroCard illimite. On ne vend plus un MetroCard illimite pour 1 jour.

Verrazano-Narrows Bridge?
A cote de Battery Park, le Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian a souvent des exhibitions tres interessantes et le batiment est tres joli. Le musee est gratuit et ouvert tous les jours.
Je suis partie a NY avec mon conjoint pendant 8 jours il y a 2 ans. Je ne me souviens plus exactement de notre planning mais il etait quand meme bien rempli !! on marchait du matin au soir !!
concernant le tien, voici les commentaires que je peux y apporter :

Tous les touristes vont dans les mêmes eglises a harlem .... du coup les locaux en ont marre et restreignent vite l'acces donc

2 tourner un peu dans harlem pour trouver une petite eglise un peu reculée (ce que nous avions fait. Je suis desolée je ne me rappelle plus du nom)
- Central park: visite guidée à vélo 2h + zoo de central park.
Lundi:

Ouahou tout ca !!! je doute que tu auras le temps de faire tout ca en une journée. Nous etions arrivés a 10H30 le matin a battery park et la queue etait longue pour acheter les billets pour le ferry + l'attente pour passer les controles de securité pour monter dans le ferry ....Nous avons visité liberty et ellis island. Au retour depuis Ellis Island nous avons attendu 1H30 pour avoir un ferry pour retourner a Manhattan !! Du coup nous sommes retournés a Battery park a 19h !! Autant dire que nous n'avons rien fait d'autre de la journée donc consacre une journée complète à ça.

Tu as oublié le brooklin bridge. Ca serait dommage de ne pas y faire un tour !

Je peux te recommander la Canaan Baptist Church, super expérience. Pour ce qui est des horaires, il y a une messe à 8h. et une autre à 11h. Le mieux est de consulter leur site car les horaires ont tendance à changer.
Profite de faire un tour à Harlem après la messe, très chouette quartier. Ainsi que te balader du côté de la Columbia University et Cathedral St John.
Pour info, le zoo de Central Park n'est pas tellement intéressant car peu d'animaux.

Le pont de Brooklyn est en travaux actuellement. Par contre, tu as un superbe point de vue sur la Skyline depuis La Promenade, Brooklyn Heights.

Concernant l'ESB, nous n'avons jamais réservé à l'avance. On ne sait jamais... point de vue météo ou un éventuel changement de programme.

Etant donné que tu as prévu de te rendre sur Liberty Island, prendre le ferry pour Staten Island n'est pas vraiment indispensable... Je trouve que du ferry, le point de vue sur la Statue est assez éloigné. 😕
Essaie de caser la High Line, très chouette promenade.

Si tu repars le samedi, oui, car tu en auras sûrement plus besoin le samedi du départ (le soir) que le samedi d'arrivée. Si tu repars le vendredi, non. 🙂
Avec la metro card, tu peux faire l'A/R à Roosevelt Island par le Roosevelt tram, qui offre une belle vue sur la ville. Le dimanche par exemple, entre Harlem et Central Park.
La High Line est aussi un endroit à voir.
Le Brooklyn Bridge est en travaux mais pas dans sa totalité. Il reste un lieu incontournable de NY.

J'aimerais juste te conseiller, si le tour en hélicoptère est une de tes priorités, de le programmer en début de voyage. Si le temps ne permet pas aux hélicos de voler le vendredi, tu ne pourras pas le faire un autre jour. Si tu le programmes le lundi par exemple, et que le temps est nuageux, tu pourras toujours repousser d'1 ou 2 jours ce vol.

Achète ta metro card 7 days dès le premier jour.
La boutique MnM's est à côté de Times Square, donc vas-y le même jour, après le Toy's R Us (à moins que tu souhaites aller plusieurs fois à Times Square, mais ça tu verras sur place)
Pour la messe gospel, j'ai un très bon souvenir de la Canaan Baptist Church of Christ, super ambiance, très chaleureux, c'était vraiment un bon moment du voyage (je décris comment ça se passe dans mon carnet)
Pas besoin de reserver à l'avance pour l'ESB ni pour le Top of the Rock. Prévoit d'arriver en avance à l'ESB si tu veux voir le coucher du soleil, quitte à attendre en haut que le soleil se couche, mais au moins tu sera sur de ne pas le louper.
J'ai pour ma part un excellent souvenir du coucher de soleil vu depuis le Top of the Rock, justement parcequ'on a la vue sur l'ESB illuminé par le soleil couchant, sublime !
Pour ta journée de jeudi, je te conseillerai de passer un peu plus de temps dans les quartiers sud de Manhattan, notamment Greenwich Village. Très sympa pour y passer la soirée.
Comme tu auras déjà pris le bateau pour aller à Ellis Island, le ferry pour Staten Island est peut-etre redondant...

Il existe aussi des tours pour voir les plans qui ont été pris dans des films célèbres. Ces serait pour moi peut-être un gain de temps pour faire le tour du parc. Je ne me rend pas compte de la grandeur de ce parc, mais j'ai l'impression qu'il est immense et je ne voudrais pas non plus y passer mon après midi, il y a tellement de choses à voir à NYC.
- pour mm's et time square sur 2 jour différents: on loge à time square donc j'y serais en effet souvent.

Question un peu bête aux specialistes es NY: nous allons aussi arriver à JFK tard le soir vers 8.00 pm. En tenant compte des formalités douanières à passer, est-il raisonnable de prendre le "air train" + metro pour rejoindre Harlem ?

Arrivés le samedi après-midi, nous avons pris la metrocard et l'avons tout de suite utilisée, uniquement pour rejoindre Manhattan.
Le samedi suivant, 8e jour, elle n'était plus valable. Nous avons donc pris 4 tickets supplémentaires par personne pour les déplacements prévus cette dernière journée (notre vol pour Miami était en fin d'après-midi). C'est pas le coup de la dizaine de $ que ça représente, mais ça augmente inutilement le coût des transports. 🙂
La High Line est faisable en 1 à 1,5 heure, si on ne flemmarde pas sur les bancs. 😎
Elle a duré bien 2 bonnes heures.
Mais franchement, nous n'avons pas vu le temps passer, et même mon mari qui est athé et qui n'était que moyennemnent motivé pour y aller en garde un excellent souvenir, c'est la bonne suprise du voyage pour lui.
J'y suis allé à 11h (plutot en mode grasse mat' qu'en mode décalage horaire 😉)
Pour Central Park, en Mars ça va être tristounet et vide ... et je le répéte mais c'est mon avis : Ca reste des arbres et de la pelouse 🤪
On peut faire un tour devant le Dakota pour le petit hommage à John Lennon mais c'est 10 mètres à l'intérieur du parc, près de l'avenue.
Ou rentrer sur 100 ou 200m juste pour avoir le recul et prendre la vue sur les gratte-ciels 😎

Plus sérieusement, j'ai bien aimé la vue depuis le "chateau", aussi une autre super vue (mais je ne me souviens plus où de tête), et aussi les artistes de rues, musiciens, petits spectables, acrobaties... C'est animé.

Non, il faut faire la balade dans sa totalité 😉
La High Line traverse à présent 3 quartiers de Manhattan mais la balade est super agréable et le concept tellement original que tu ne devrais pas voir le temps passer.
Ne pas manquer de faire une promenade dans Meatpacking District (1ère section de la High Line), le quartier est très sympa avec ses galeries, boutiques à la mode et rues pavées.
Chelsea Market (ancienne fabrique de biscuits) est à voir également.

Tu peux aussi prendre le City Sight bus : billet 2 jours ou 3 jours avec système hop on - hop off à volonté sur les différents parcours. Ca peut te faire gagner du temps pour visiter les principaux endroits touristiques que tu souhaites voir. De plus, le billet donne accès au sommet du Rockefeller Center + bateau pour aller à la statue de la Liberté et d'autres choses.

Intéressant aussi de flaner dans les quartiers sans but touristique précis pour flairer l'atmosphère new-yorkaise : Williamsburg le dimanche, Chelsea, Meat Packing district ...

nous avons visité (grace au conseil du routard je pense) l'Empire State Building de nuit (entre 0h00 et 2h00) comme nous avions visité Top of the Rock la veille durant la journée ca nous a permis d'avoir un superbe panorama nocturne et surtout de n'avoir auune fille (et quand on a vu les cordons prevu a cet effet c'est pas du luxe ;-)
Sinon n'oublie pas d'aller voir la maison de Friends dans Greenwich Village qui est un quartier charmant ;-)

After that, we’re heading to Sherbrooke to visit our daughter, who’s studying at the university there. We’ll spend 3 days with her, and then, since she has a break that week, we’re taking her along for 3 days in Quebec City.
We’ve planned to visit Montmorency Falls and Île d'Orléans.
I’d love to hear what route you’d recommend for the drive from Sherbrooke to Quebec City—we’ll have the whole day to take it easy.

Classic itinerary: arrival in Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Clearwater, Whistler, Vancouver Island, departure from Vancouver.
I know you can’t see into the future any better than I can, so I’m obviously not asking what the wildfire situation will be like in a month...
But if any of you could let me know if, CURRENTLY, there are major difficulties—not just for locals, of course, but for tourists as well?
We’re hesitating between taking the chance or canceling what we still can.
We’re not young anymore and don’t have the flexibility we once did...

A friend is renting a car for an upcoming trip during the All Saints' holiday.
Nowadays, all rental cars come with GPS, but do you know if you can use it without paying for the GPS rental? I have no idea since I always use my own!
After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!
