Nous partons en juillet pour 18 jours, l'ouest américain, mais que doit-on emmener dans nos bagages, le très très utile et le reste en sachant que sur la moto la place est au strict minimum, vous qui avez déjà voyagé pouvez vous m'aider?

Nous n'avons pas fait l'ouest américian en moto, mais un regard de motard (XJ900) sur comment je le vois.
Déjà tout dépend de la saison. Jusque Paques, il fait assez froid dans les parcs et sur SF et il faut être bien couvert. Je serai plus hésitant pour le casque, mais je crois que je me limiterai au "jet" et pas l'intégral. Surtout si c'est l'été.
Ensuite, pour le reste, ça me semble exactement comme un voyage chez nous. Mais peut être en plus simple. Il y a très souvent des laveries à un prix abordable dans les hôtels. Choisir si possible des hôtels avec petit déj inclus, ça règle ce problème.
Tout ce qui est hygiène, propreté, se trouve bien sûr sur place. Une toute petite pharmacie (3 compresses désinfectantes, un bout de sparadra!) car de toutes façons pleins de médicaments sont en ventes libres en supermarket !
Une bonne crème solaire.
De plus, tu es limité en bagages dans l'avion, donc ça dictera tes priorités! Comme tu feras un peu de shopping, partir avec le minimum de fringues et utiliser celles achetées sur place.
Non, honnètement, je ne vois pas quel caractère particulier pourrait revêtir un voyage là bas par rapport à chez nous. Les pompes à essence sont peut être parfois plus espacées, ne pas hésiter à faire le plein dès mi-réservoir.
La diversité des fast-food, sandwicheries et autres Dely permettent de se nourrir sans aller au restau en permanence et sans la galère de prévoir le picnique en permanence.
Dernière remarque : si vous louez une grossa Harley, je suis quasiment sûr qu'il n'est pas possible de faire avec la route qui fait le tour de Monument Valley. Tout du moins, c'était comme cela à Paques l'an dernier.
Voilà pour ce qui n'est qu'une impression, j'espère que d'autres pourront témoigner de leur voyage en moto.

caussat a repondu a tes questions. Pour ma part, j'ai fais plusieurs trips aux usa en harley et je te donne mon avis. En Juillet tu auras generalement du beau temps avec toutefois des risques de pluis en fin de journée dans le sud ouest (genre de mousson) et un peu de fraicheur sur les hauteurs (grand canyon par ex.). Mais rien d'affolant ne t'inquiette pas. Voilà ce que je prend moi en gros en tenant compte qu'il y a des laveries dans tout les hotels du style Bestwestern, Super8, Motel6...
2 jean's, 4 ou 5 tee-shirts(tu en acheteras sur place), une polaire(on sais jamais),1 sweat, combie de pluis, blouson, trousse de toilette, petite pharmacie, maillot de bain (piscine dans les motels), minimum de couture(ça peut aider), paire de chaussure ou botte pour rouler, chausson (pour la piscine ou le repos du guerrier), gants (été et hiver), un bon road book, une carte routière, pour le casque un jet te suffira , lunette solaire, creme solaire, voilà en vrac mais j'ai certainement oublié des trucs. Pour la moto, j'espère que pour un trip aux usa vous avez pris un harley. Dans ce cas moi je prend toujours l'electra glide car elle offre le plus de place de rangement et un confort top niveau. Si tu as besoin d'autres infos n'hesite pas.....@+

J'ajouterai que pour le blouson il vaut mieux privilégier un blouson en jean car en juillet il va faire très très chaud.🙂
Avec les habits de pluie (indispensable à cette époque comme le signale Daniel) et un pull en polaire (lèger et chaud) tu peux faire l'impasse sur le cuir (tu peux même acheter un blouson cuir chez Harley sur place ensuite car les prix sont très intéressants)
Prends de vieux jeans et vieux T-shirt et tu renouvelle tout là-bas, les prix sont supers.😎
Quelle moto as tu choisie ?
Nous partons en groupe 2 semaines en juin prochain, 5 motos avec Westeurobike, je loue par leur intermédiaire une electra glide, pour 5000 kms dans l'ouest (parcs)
Question équipement, on nous a conseillé d'acheter nos casques sur place (nos intégraux seront trop encombrant et trop chaud) les prix sont abordables 50 dollards environ même s'ils ne sont pas conforme en France celà fera un souvenir de voyage.
Question vestimentaire devont nous prendre nos blousons avec la doublure, quelles bottes prendrent, les notres seront-elles trop lourdes et chaudes pour le mois de juin. Le responsable de Westeurobike qui un "vieux baroudeur" utilise des bottes légères d'équitation de chez Décathlon.
Comme je le disais nous partons à 13 sur 5 motos plus l'accompagnatrice qui suit en voiture. Que devont nous mettre dans nos sacs?
L'avis de Westeurobike : assurance de la carte bleue suffit pour le périple (visa premier ou Gold) partir avec un minimum de devises, il ya des distributeurs partout.
A 2 mois et demie du départ je suis preneurs de vos conseils.
Juste une remarque pour les bottes d'équitation Décathlon (et là, ce n'est pas le motard qui parle, mais le papa d'une fille qui fait de l'équit depuis 10ans !) : C'est un très bon produit auquel nous sommes accro, mais en général l'extérieur est en plastique. Alors ça va pour porter un peu, même une journée entière, mais sur la durée d'un trip, ça ne me semble pas confortable (voire pas hygiénique ...).
Par contre, et c'est peut être à cela que tu fais allusion, ils font des boots en cuir, confortable et pas cher (30-40 euros).
Je n'ai jamais eu l'idée, mais elle est tout sauf bête !
Partis il y a 5 mois et demi et en HD louées chez Eagle rider pour un périple de 5200kms, il fallait que l'on surveille ce que l'on allait emmener, nous sommes donc partis avec 6 T-shirt, 6 sous vétements, 6 paires de chaussettes, 1 jean, 1 blouson léger, 1 polaire bien chaude, 1 paire de basket (botte pas pratique si excursion, les miennes m'ont prises beaucoup de place dans une des 2 sacoches latérales et je ne l'ai porté qu'a bryce canyon car le matin au réveil il avait gelé!!!), un kit anti crevaison, bombe anti crevaison , combinaison de pluie (qui n'ont pas servies), vieille serviette, et un filet de bagage de peugeot 206 SW pour le maintient de sac divers et souvenir sur le dessus du Top case. Le petit Truc que j'avais fait acheté à mes Amis avant de partir était les sac HD (ou adaptable) qui épousent parfaitement l'intérieur des top case et sacoches latérales (roulant en HD Electra glide en france j'avais emmené les miennes), ce qui fait que le soir à l'hôtel, en un rien de temps les affaires sont sorties de la moto et dito pour le lendemain matin. Cela permet aussi avant de savoir au niveau contenance et affaires ce que tu peux emporter. Une fois fait j'ai mis ce que contenait mes sacs de sacoches latérales dans un sac de sport et ai mis en soute ce sac ainsi que le sac HD (qui va dans le Top case). A l'arrivé ce sac de sport à fait tout le voyage sur le dessus du top case et maintenu par le filet de la 206 SW
Au retour nous avons acheté nos valises sur Hollywood boulevard et le retour en HD avec les valises fut assez pittoresque!!! (cf photos)
Je suis partis seul avec mon épouse et 2 couples. J'ai mis à peu près 1 an et demi pour tout préparer, avec l'aide de certain Forumeurs (qui ne le savent peut être pas, mais qui se reconnaitront!!) et qui ont toujours été de bon conseils. Les motos ont été réservées en Février 2009 ainsi que les billets d'avions pour un départ le 21 septembre 2009, nos 2 nuits à SFO, nos 2 nuits à Las Vegas et nos 2 nuits sur Santa Monica et une nuit sur El Segundo Boulevard pour la restitution des motos on aussi été réservées à l'avance, tout le reste s'est fait sur place.........avec parfois quelques surprises, mais bon ce fut de très bon moments inoubliables!!!!😇😇.

Oui bien sûr j'ai fait un Road Book relié que j'ai remis à mes Amis le jour du départ à l'aéroport de Roissy. En fait tout l'itinéraire était dans ma "tête", je me suis guidé sur place grâce à mon GPS tomtom rider installé sur le guidon de l'electra de location (et à mon PC portable), le soir cela me permettait de modifier ou non en fonction des rencontres et aléas divers de la journée, notre itinéraire qui n'était pas figé.
Je n'arrive pas à mettre le road book que j'ai en format word!! si tu veux me donner ton adresse mail en MP je me ferais un plaisir de te le communiquer

Mon filet venait de la 206 SW de mon Beau frère, celui de mes amis venait d'une casse auto. Pour éviter toutes rayures sur le desssus du top case, j'ai utilisé un vieux torchon de cuisine, j'ai rendu le Top case de l'Electra sans aucune rayure!!!!!

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
