Forming a friendly small group of seniors for trips to decide together

Hello, I’m a 76-year-old "senior" who’s still active and full of energy. I ski, swim, hike, and keep traveling a lot, including to the other side of the world. My most recent trip: The Philippines (winter 2026). I’d love to gather a small group of friendly seniors to first plan some short trips in France together. If everything goes well, we could venture farther and for longer. What matters to me in a foreign country: a change of scenery, trying to understand the locals and their way of life, architectural heritage (cities in particular), and of course the beauty of natural sites. I’m not really into "road trips." I live in Paris and am available the second half of August and the first week of September (2026). Nothing’s set yet for 2027. Hope to meet you soon! Granviajera.

Hello, Second "senior" here, 76 years young, fit and active, also interested in forming a group of friendly seniors to travel together based on everyone’s ideas and preferences. We’ll discuss it further and see the responses. See you soon.
HI Hilde04 ·
Since 2015, I’ve taken a long trip of at least 5 weeks every year (Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, etc.). Well, COVID and some recent work projects really slowed me down. Ready to hit the road again.

Hello I’m 74 years old. I live in Haute-Savoie and I’m looking for hikers or travelers ready to set off here or elsewhere. See you soon

Hi there, I’m Nicolas, 68 years old, single, living near Alès in the Cévennes. I’d love to take a trip to Northern Europe (or somewhere else) in July or August 2026—just to escape the future heatwave—and the idea of putting together a group of seniors really appeals to me. Just a heads-up: I’ve got a pretty dry sense of humor!!!

Hi Nicolas, I’m part of this idea to form a group of friendly, travel-loving seniors. You mentioned heading north to escape the heatwave... I’ve got the same plan with a big project for 2027: taking the Hurtigruten Coastal Express from Bergen (Norway), bringing the car along. We’d disembark in Kirkenes (way up north) and then zigzag back south (crossing between Norway and Sweden depending on what we want to see) before returning to France. A project to build together. If that "sparks your interest," we can chat about it—I’m in Savoie. To escape the heatwave this year, I’m thinking of tackling the Alpine passes... but it depends on my car, so still to be confirmed.

Hello everyone, and the one lone guy! 😊 We’re already five—that’s not bad! To move forward, we should take the next step... A video call with all five of us? Or a meet-up somewhere? At my place, I can host 3 people, and the 4th can crash on the terrace in a hammock! 🌞 During a heatwave, it might get pretty toasty, or we could set up a mattress on the floor. What do you all think?!!!

Marianne, for this summer, I’m looking into a trip to Northern Europe—options include Ireland, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, etc.—and I’d love to do it as a group. Your idea of a video call meet-up is great. In-person is even better, but it might be trickier to organize. There are also group chats like WhatsApp. I’ll send you my phone number in a private message. See you soon, Nicolas

Hello Véronique and everyone, I’m one of those traveling souls, a senior and solo traveler, always on the lookout for partner(s) for organized tours or independent trips (max 4 people), outside of school holidays. Based in the Nantes area, I usually depart from Paris CDG, but I can meet you at the arrival airport. A short getaway of a few days to get to know each other could interest me. Just one catch: I don’t travel with a backpack and hope for a minimum of comfort (no dormitories). Street food for lunch is fine if there’s a good meal in the evening. Easygoing vibes, no athletic feats. Have a lovely summer, Miry

Hello, I’m also a senior, energetic, have traveled a lot, and still have the same enthusiasm for discovery! A trip to Northern Europe this summer really appeals to me. See you soon! Monique.

Hi everyone,

Régine here, 68 years old, from Lyon (nobody's perfect!!). I’m also fed up with traveling alone. And I can’t stand "organized" trips—NF, Fram, and the like.

Nico, your second-degree humor must be treatable... Marianne, I love your username!

Yes to a video call meet-up to see each other’s faces!

In my plans, there’s a project for my 70th birthday (January 2028): a month in New Zealand, with a possible extension to Tasmania if the budget allows. For January 2027, I’m thinking either Mexico or South Africa... Have a great (but way too hot) day, everyone! Régine

Welcome to the group, Régine, the Lyon cicada! I signed up at the last minute for a 15-day trip to the Baltic countries with Atalante starting July 12. It’s a small, guided group trip (I’ve traveled with them before when they were Club-Aventure and Humans). Since I’m a bit disorganized and plan things like a broomstick, I’m paying the max price for peak season, but oh well—I’m breaking the piggy bank. That said, I don’t intend to stew in my dried-up Cévennes rivers in August and the following months. The idea of a meet-up via video call needs work—we’ll have to sort out the tech (webcam, suitable software) for everyone. I have electronics skills (it was my job), but not IT know-how to give advice, though it should definitely be doable.
