Alors voilà, je dois faire un voyage en train d'Epernay à Rouen, j'ai trouvé un trajet à très bon prix qui va d'Epernay à la gare de l'est, puis de la gare Saint Lazare à Rouen. Le soucis est que je ne sais pas trop comment faire pour aller de la gare de l'est à la gare Saint Lazare... J'ai 1h50 entre l'arrivée à la gare de l'Est et le départ de la gare Saint Lazare, on m'a dit (et j'ai vérifié) qu'il y a environ 3KM entre les deux gare. Donc, cela me parait faisables . On m'a conseillé le métro, mais j'avoue que cette option ne me plait pas beaucoup, parce que j'aurais surement un bagage encombrant, et je l'avoue le métro me terrorise! J'ai pris le métro une fois et je n'y est rien compris, je me suis perdue et j'ai galèré pendant plusieurs heures!!! Donc, j'opterai plutôt pour un taxi, mais plusieur questions me taraude! Déjà combien cela va me coûter? Car j'ai des moyens plutôt limité... Ensuite comment est ce que je vais trouver un taxi, parce qu'il sera près de 22h à mon arrivé à la gare de l'Est! Y a-t-il des taxis à la sortie de la gare de l'Est??? Prennent-ils tout le monde même pour des petits trajet? Si vous pouviez répondre à mes questions je vous en serait très reconnaissante!!!!! Bon, je me lance pour poser une question qui vous paraitra surement stupide (je suis une campagnarde et je n'y connais rien en transport, alors on ne se moque pas! D'accord! 😄). Le RER, c'est quoi exactement? Un train normal? Est-ce qu'il faut que je sorte de la gare de l'Est? Si ce n'est pas trop compliqué de s'y rendre, je prendrai peut-être le RER E, comme il n'y a qu'un seul arret sans changement, il n'y a pas moyen que je me perde, même si je suis très forte pou ça!

No problemo, LaetTH, c'est difficile pour tout le monde de s'y retrouver à Paris, quand on n'est pas habitué...
De gare de l'est, il faut que tu ailles à pieds à gare du nord (10 minutes maxi, c'est indiqué par des pancartes bleu marine et les gens peuvent te montrer de toute façon).
A gare du nord, tu prends le RER E (RER = genre de gros métro qui fait plus d'arrêt que le train mais moins que le métro). Le RER E est la ligne de couleur rose-mauve sur les plans (grosso modo, elle part de "en haut à droite" de Paris et va jusqu'à st lazare (centre-haut-gauche de Paris).
Le RER E part de gare du nord (mais on appelle l'arrêt Magenta ou gare du nord... Après faudra pas se plaindre que personne n'y comprenne rien 😉) et va vers Haussmann-St-Lazare, il y a juste UN arrêt et en plus, c'est le terminus.
A Haussmann st lazare, il faut suivre les panneaux GARE st lazare (et non pas RUE st lazare, c'est à coté, mais autant aller directement au bon endroit...)
A st Lazare, les trains de banlieue sont à gauche et les "Grandes lignes" sont à droite. Les écrans annonçant les destinations en bout de quai vont t'aider : s'ils sont bleus, c'est un train de banlieue. S'ils sont verts, c'est de la grande ligne.
Donc en bref, toi, il faut que tu ailles vers les trains grandes lignes, donc les écrans verts, sur le coté droit de la gare.
C'est dommage de prendre un taxi pour une telle distance, alors qu'un ticket de métro suffit (en plus c'est probablement plus rapide, même avec une valise)... Après mon explication, cela te semble peut-être compliqué, masi c'est juste que j'ai tenté de la faire la plus complète possible. N'hésite pas à demander de toute façon, je suis sure que tu vas trouver sans problème !
N'aie pas peur, le métro, le RER et le Transilien ce n'est pas du tout compliqué...
Métro : train majoritairement souterrain faisant quasiment uniquement un trajet dans Paris
Transilien : nom donné aux TER Île de France. Partent des gares St Lazare, de Lyon, de l'est, du nord, et Montparnasse (je zappe volontairement la ligne U)
RER : Comme un Transilien, mais ça traverse Paris. Comme le métro, ils ont leur gares propres.
Pour aller de gare de l'est à St Lazare, le plus simple est effectivement le RER E.
À la gare de l'est, suivre le fléchage RER E. Arrivé aux tourniquets, acheter un ticket de métro (valable aussi pour le RER dans Paris, ne t'inquiète pas).
Une fois passé le tourniquet, suivre la direction "Haussman St Lazare".
Une fois descendu sur le quai, prendre le premier train qui arrive (attention un quai est encadré par deux voies, le RER peut arriver sur l'une des deux).
Une fois arrivé à Haussman St Lazare (station suivante), suivre Gare St Lazare / Grandes lignes. Une fois passé les tourniquets dans l'autre sens (qui sont ici de simples portes), prendre sur la droite et monter en haut des escaliers, tu seras sur le quai de la gare St Lazare. Les trains grandes lignes partent de la droite de la gare (depuis le quai en regardant les voies).
Ce serait quand même bête de prendre le taxi juste pour ça...
Mon avis : les propositions faites par les intervenants précédents sont correctes mais utilisables en journée uniquement.
En revanche, je te vois mal - en soirée - aller récupérer le RER E avec un bagage lourd et volumineux.
Pour moi, la meilleure solution reste le taxi. A la Gare de l'Est, tu suis le panneau Taxi et tu devrais en avoir un rapidement (en précisant au chauffeur que tu es pressé et qu'il prenne le chemin le plus court ; les taxis ont une fâcheuse tendance à promener les régionaux arrivant par train).
A 22H00, le tarif du taxi sera celui de la nuit + bagages + prise en charge et déchargement en gare (si supplément maintenu). Tu devrais pouvoir s'en sortir pour 20€ (il est préférable de voir large).

LaeTH arrive par le train Gare de l'Est. Le RER E ne passe pas dans cette gare et les passagers doivent marcher pour rejoindre la station RER.
Avec un bagage lourd et volumineux, cette marche ne sera pas aisée d'autant plus - qu'en cette saison - à 22H00, il fait nuit ; ce qui rend le parcours plus difficile encore (quand on ne le pratique pas de façon habituelle).

Franchement, MERCI à vous tous pour toutes vos indications! J'ai noté "l'itinéraire" pour prendre le RER E, mais je garde quand même l'option du taxi! Je pense que je choisirait en fonction du nombre de bagages (plus ou moins encombrant) que j'aurai à me coltiner! Et aussi en fonction de ma motivation! Mais, quoi qu'il en soit, je vous REMERCIE tous! C'est vrai que j'étais très stressé de se départ, et grâce à vous TOUS et toutes vos précisions, me voilà prête pour le départ! Mais surtout je partirais plus sereinement! ça peut paraitre ridicule, mais j'appréhendais énormément de me retrouver seule dans Paris complètement paumée à 2h du mat', enfin le cauchemar quoi!

Mon train arrive à 21h50 (je crois, à peu près) à la gare de l'est. Et j'en reprend un autre 1h50 plus tard à la gare St Lazare. Donc, normalement le RER sera encore ouvert non? Et au pire, il y a encore des taxis à la sortie de la gare de l'Est à 22H?

tous ces renseignements concernant le trajet sont exacts. mais deux petits détails ont été omis (j'irais voir pour te confirmer). Normalement si rien n'a changé juste à la sorie de la gare de l'est, il y a des escaliers assez hard à monter surtout avec de gros bagages.
Et pour les taxis, en cas d'affluence, tu peux attendre longtemps un véhicule (ce détail est à prendre en compte).

on va commencer par les taxis : à la gare de l'Est, tu as maintenant deux plateformes la bleu et la jaune.
Au moment ou ton train va arriver en gare il faut savoir qu'il y aura quatre trains à l'arrivée ce qui fait beaucoup de clients potentiels pour les taxis.
Donc si tu arrives sur la plateforme bleiue, tu suis tout droit sous la endule tu trvarses la salle et au bout à la sortie tu tournes à droite et la tu tombes sur la station de taxis.
Si tu arrives sur la plateforme jaune pareil, tu passes sous un horloge, tu traverses la salle et à la sortie tu tournes à gauche ce coup-ci.
Si tu vois beaucoup de monde, ne prends pas peur et opte pour la solution RER E.
Donc tu rerentres dans la gare et quand tu es devant les quais tu tournes sur ta gauche et tu vois un grand panneau (photo 1) ; là tu vas te retrouver dehors et tu tournes à droite et tu verras ce fameux escalier (photo 2). Tu montes cet escalier et tu te retrouves dans la rue d'Alasace, que tu vas prendre jusqu'au bout je dius bien jusqu'au bout au feu rouge à l'angle avec la rue La Fayette. Tu verras à ce moment la gare Magenta, qui est à côté de la gare du Nord mais qui n'est pas à la gare du Nord (voir google maps) (photo 3)
A cet endroit la tu aura des escalators et des ascenseurs pour te rendre directement à l'accès aux quais. Pense à prendre un ticket aux distributeurs qui se trouvent juste au niveau avant les tourniquets.
Aprs les passages, tu verras ton trian affiché avec sa voie, tu suis la direction de grands escalators pour descendre, et tu arrives sur le quai (fiche horaires des trains : http://www.transilien.com/ cliquer sur fiche horaire gare de départ Magenta)
Tu prends ton train et tu arrives à Haussmann Saint Lazare.
En descendant du train, tu prnds comme indiqué plus haut pat un autre vifiste la sortie gare Saint Lazare.
La ca va te paraitre un peu long mais cette correspondance est bonne si tu suis bien toujours la bonne sortie.
Au bout de cette correspondance tu devras sortir du RER garde bien ton ticket a portée de main tu en auras besoin pour sortir.
Undernier garnd escalator et la tu arrives oh malheur devant un dernier escalier fixe, et oui tout n'est pas terminé à la gare Saint Lazare qui est en perpétuel chantier.
En haut de cet escalier un petit escalator qui t'emmènes directement sur les quais de la gare Saint Lazare.

Je tient, pour commencer, à remercier tous ceux qui ont pris le temps de me renseigner! Tous vos conseils m'ont été d'un GRAND secours! Mon voyage s'est bien passer. J'ai opté pour la solution du taxi, pour l'aller (Gare St Lazare - Gare de l'est) j'ai payé 8€ et pour le retour (Gare de l'Est - Gare St Lazare) 7€30, donc je trouve ça très raisonnable, je m'attendais à pire! Le seule point noir de ce voyage c'était que je devais attendre 1h50 entre mon arrivé à St Lazare et le départ à la gare de l'Est (et vis versa pour le retour... Mais j'ai choisit cette option pour payer mes billets le moins cher possible (25.50€ pour l'aller et idem pour le retour). Pour le reste tout s'est très bien déroulé, et la prochaine fois que je devrais refaire ce trajet (car je suis appelé à le refaire souvent) je serais beaucoup plus sereine.

tu as effectivement eu raison de ne pas prendre le metro pour ma part j'habite a paris mais des que je me deplace c'est en taxi : le metro je deteste il y a du monde partout je trouve ca beaucoup plus sympa de se deplacer en taxi dans paris , parfois je m'offre meme des petits detours histoire de passer dans le centre de paris surtout la nuit quand c'est eclairé

Tokyo - Hakone
Hakone - Kyoto
Kyoto - Osaka
Osaka - Tokyo
Here are my questions:
a) Is it possible to buy train tickets for these segments from Canada?
b) If so, which website should I use to do this?
c) And if it is possible, will we be able to print our tickets from Canada?

Hi everyone, I wanted to take the Paris-Berlin overnight train with a sleeper berth, the new service operated by European Sleepers.
24/05/2026 17:45 Paris-Nord (actually 16:00 from Paris Bercy Seine) -> 25/05/2026 9:59 (actually 7:30 in Berlin)
05/06/2026 18:31 Berlin (actually 20:00) -> 06/06/2026 10:00 Paris Nord (actually 12:30)
Part of the journey was operated by bus instead of the promised overnight train.
For 2 people: 340 € round trip
A total disaster. Never again. I was really looking forward to taking the overnight train, but we faced last-minute changes and truly unpleasant travel conditions. Here are the details:
1) 2 days before departure: email announcing a change of departure station for the outbound trip—Bercy Seine bus station instead of Gare du Nord.
2) Change of schedule: 4:00 PM from Bercy instead of 5:45 PM from Gare du Nord.
3) Change of transport mode!! A bus from Paris to Brussels, then an overnight train from Brussels to Berlin. No functional toilets on the bus. No children under 4 allowed on the bus.
4) On the sleeper train at 9:30 PM: no functional toilets in our carriage, so we had to go to other carriages, even in the middle of the night, to find working ones.
5) The onboard staff, though very friendly, were as lost as we were. In particular, they didn’t know how to handle the lower berths, so people using them had less space (armrests and backrests). Berth numbers weren’t respected, so some passengers had to move. The staff also didn’t know who was supposed to join the compartment during the journey.
6) Arrival at 7:30 AM in Berlin instead of 10:00 AM. No arrival announcement. Passengers had to search for staff to get breakfast and ended up with just a coffee (breakfast = 15 €, not bad for just a coffee).
7) Return trip: drastic schedule change announced by email on 26/05/2026—departure at 7:30 PM instead of 6:30 PM, with arrival between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM in Paris instead of 10:00 AM. No change in transport mode announced.
8) Change in transport mode announced by email on the same day (05/06/2026)!! Overnight train from Brussels to Berlin, then a bus from Paris to Brussels. No functional toilets on the bus. Children under 4 banned from the bus, and families in this situation were asked to find another way—after being notified the same day.
9) The overnight train arrived at Berlin station with a 30-minute delay on top of its initial delay (scheduled for 6:31 PM, then 7:30 PM, finally arriving at 8:00 PM). The heating was blasting in the compartment with no way to turn it off. No functional toilets in the carriage. From that point on, customer service stopped responding to my messages.
10) Woken up at 5:00 AM with an announcement in all carriages about arrival in Liège.
11) Woken up again at 6:00 AM to be told we’d arrive in Brussels at 7:00 AM.
12) Arrival in Brussels at 7:00 AM and a one-hour wait for the bus to Paris. No functional toilets on the bus.
13) Arrival at Paris Nord at 12:30 PM, so 2.5 hours late compared to the originally scheduled time.
14) The overnight trains used are very old—I recognized the carriages from 20 years ago!! No functional power outlets, no Wi-Fi, no air conditioning. Five people per compartment is a bit cramped, but I consider these conditions expected (especially the air conditioning), so I’m not complaining about that. There’s already plenty to gripe about with the travel conditions.
I have little hope of getting even a partial refund. Customer service emails acknowledge the discomfort but only offer to reimburse the cost of a coffee on board if we send them the receipt... a bit weak.
I’m sharing this experience in the hope it might help others.

Tomorrow afternoon, I arrive at Lyon Part-Dieu on the TGV at 5:50 PM and take the TER to Mâcon at 6:16 PM. Is a 26-minute transfer doable? Are the TGV and TER on the same departure board? And are they on the same platforms too?

I just realized there’s only one payment method accepted for booking the Mombasa-Nairobi express train ticket online: M-Pesa, a mobile money transfer service used in Africa. Would it be impossible to book as a European?
I’d love to know if any of you have recently eaten on the overnight train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.
We’ve always ordered food on the train, and it was really good (and super convenient).
But in 2022, we ended up feeling like total idiots (with our 4-year-old daughter...) when we boarded the train only to find out that this service was no longer available... (It was the first time we’d traveled right after COVID.)
That’s also when we saw once again how kind Thai people are—they all offered to share their food with us, even though we were mortified. In the end, we managed to buy some instant noodles, which was better than nothing. Anyway, that’s the little story behind it.
In the following years, we’ve always brought our own meals.
I’ve read online that meal trays are back in service (could you confirm this, please?), but that the quality is really poor. I’ve also seen multiple reports that, even though you can eat well everywhere in Thailand, the train meal was the worst food travelers had during their trip...
Could you give me a recent opinion on this?
We’ll be departing from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Station—do you know if there’s anywhere to buy a meal there before boarding the train?

I’m planning to travel from Ulaanbaatar to Irkutsk by train this summer but I’m a bit worried about crossing the borders. How does it work? Could anyone share their experience? (I’ve found quite a few accounts of people going *from* Russia *to* Mongolia, but entering a country is never the same as leaving it—especially in this context!)
Can anyone tell me how to book train tickets online? We're planning to travel from HANOI to HO CHI MINH CITY by train, making several stops along the way. I'd also like to find the schedules and the stations where the trains stop.
