Grâce à une annonce parue dans voyager forum, je suis partie en été 2008 donner des cours dans un école bouddhique à 1h30 de Darjeeling, perdue au milieu de la forêt!
Le directeur de l'école me recontacte souvent car ils cherchent des professeurs d'anglais et d'informatique (basique: le pack Office)
L'école compte environ 100 élèves répartis en 4 niveaux différents, qui ont entre 6 et 18 ans. Il y a 4 à 5 professeurs de religion, tibétain, népalais et anglais (le monastère se situe proche du sikkim, du tibet, du népal et du bhoutan).
Vous avez votre propre chambre, vous êtes nourri et logé gratuitement et jouissez de la possibilité de passer vos week ends à Darjeeling, Gangtok, Kalimpong...Le directeur vous emmènera sûrement visiter les multiples plantations de thé environnantes, dont il connait tous les patrons!
C'est une expérience formidable, je compte y retourner cet été pour un mois, mais le directeur cherche des professeurs toute l'année (car les enfants préfèrent notre accent à ceux des indiens en anglais!)

Ton annonce me paraît très interessante, c'est le genre d'experience que j'aimerais vivre l'année prochaine. J'aimerais partir pour Octobre ou Novembre 2010 pour une durée de 2 3 ou 4 mois. J'ai 21 ans je viens d'avoir mon BTS et j'aimerais avoir une première expérience dans le domaine de l'aide internationale.
Je n'ai pas de qualification particulière pour l'enseignement et mon niveau d'anglais est moyen (pour ce qui est du pack office, pas de problème je pense) par contre j'ai un BAFA et c'est pour moi un grand kiff d'apprendre des choses aux enfants et ce serait encore plus magique dans un pays comme l'Inde !

Pensez-vous que ma candidature puisse correspondre aux besoins de cette école?
Je prépare un voyage en Inde pour avril 2011 pour au moins deux mois, dont un pour faire du bénévolat. Cela pourrait d'ailleurs être dans tout autre chose que l'enseignement. Ce que je souhaite, c'est pouvoir partager ce que je sais faire là où cela est nécessaire.

I’m a volunteer leader at a youth center (MJC), and we’ve been deeply moved by everything happening in Madagascar—extreme poverty, endangered animals, deforestation, and so on. Plus, one of our teens has a Malagasy friend, so our group wants to travel there next year.
Throughout this year, they’ve planned fundraisers to collect donations (sheets, dish towels, schoolbooks, hygiene products, etc.) and funds to cover their trip and stay.
They’re really motivated and generous—they already volunteer in schools and senior centers, and they’re always welcomed warmly.
But so far, they haven’t found any organizations in Madagascar willing to host them for two weeks (orphanages, schools, animal protection parks, etc.).
Does anyone know of any contacts, please?

Hello, we’d like to travel as a family to Madagascar (2 parents, 2 kids aged 10 and 12). A first trip over 15 years ago completely amazed and moved me with its beauty, kindness, and life experiences—but also its poverty and hardship. That’s why I think it’s possible to introduce our kids to this island while also doing something useful through volunteering. The window is short—15 days in March 2020—which means avoiding the north and east of the island due to cyclones and focusing on the south instead. Some ecovolunteering projects exist online, but the cost is sometimes prohibitive, and kids are rarely accepted. Do you have any ideas or contacts? Thanks in advance!
