Itinéraire nord-ouest de Bali

Bonjour,
Je suis en train de réaliser mon itinéraire de voyage sur 12j à Bali et 2-3 jours de farniente en plus. Je voudrais savoir si quelqu'un connait le Nord Ouest de l'île et savoir combien de jours il faudrait compter pour le découvrir : ile de Menjangan, parc naturel ... sachant que nous aimons les randos tranquilles, visites hors des sentiers battus et le snorkling.
Merci pour toutes les infos qui me permettrons de finaliser mon parcours.
pour l'ïle de Menjengan un ou deux jours sur place sont suffisant soit en passant par un centre de plongée qui vous emmenera sur place et vous fera faire deux plongées ou deux snorkellings dans la journée ... et pour le parc naturel pareil en deux jours vous pourrez le parcourir avec un guide .. de totue façon sur place tout vous sera organisé si vous demandez à votre hôtel ou centre de plongée et pour y aller je vous conseille de passer par Munduk qui est un endroit super si vous aimez la marche à travers les rizières, forêt de Girofliers et magnifiques cascades .. sur MUNDUK vous pouvez aussi rester deux nuits sur place pour découvrir l'endroit en montagne en plus il y fait frais et de Munduk il faut 3 h pour rejoindre Pemuteran

Bonjour Daniel et merci pour toutes ces infos.
En effet, je pensais egalement rester 2-3 nuits sur Munduk, c'est pour cela que je pensais plutot rejoindre Pemuteran par la cote Sud ouest. En partant du Sud, cela est il possible en 1 journée et il ya t'il un interet (village, paysage....). Cetait pour eviter d'emprunter la meme route en AR.

je comprend pas exactement si tu passes par munduk .. tu prends d'abord la route qui monte vers bedugul ( sympa de s'arrêter au marché et de manger le sate Kelinci ( lapin ) et voir le temple en bord du lac Bratann ( pura ulun danu bratan) puis monter rejoindre la route qui longe les deux autres lacs ( elle est très belle ) et redescendre vers Munduk ... ensuite de Munduk continuer la route passer à Mayong qui est un de mes endroits préférés .. très belle vue sur des rizières puis descendre vers Seririt pour alors longer la côte jusqu'à Pemuteran ..
je pense que vous voulez prendre une autre route au retour .. par le sud c'est pas cool car la route est longue et toujours très chargée par tous els camions qui font la traversée .. si je peux vous conseiller c'est revenir par Pupuan qui est une très jolie route avec de très belles rizières ... i lfaut par contre revenir vers Seririt pour la prendre ...elle se fait dans la journée

Encore merci pour ses infos et après avoir vu qques photos de la région de la région de Pupuan et Mayong on se pose la question de savoir si les 2 jours consacrés au Nord Ouest valent vraiment le coup, ou si on les rajouter sur Munduk et Ubud par exemple ne serait pas plus judicieux. Sinon, combien de temps faut il à peu près compter pour rejoindre Pemuteran depuis Munduk ?
Sans vouloir abuser, peux tu me dire ce que tu penses de l'itinéraire ci dessous (à moduler avec les 2 nuits du Nord Ouest)

J 8 / J9 / J10 : 3 nuits à Ubud
J 11 / J12 : 2 nuits vers Amed
J 13 /J 14 : 2 nuits sur Gili ou autre
J 15 / 1 nuit dans le Sud avant le vol retour
Nous sommes friands de lieux insolites, peu connus des touristes et comptons s'offrir de temps en temps les services de guides et de chauffeurs.

je ne peux pas décider à votre place sur ce choix selon vos envies .. si vous voulez faire du snorkelling ou plongée sur un site magnifique .. menjengan est tout indiqué .. après de Munduk à Pemuteran il faut compter environ deux bonnes heures de route ..
votre programme parait bien : le choix du sud pour se reposer est bien si vous avez envie de profiter de la grande plage qui va de Kuta jusqu'à Seminyak en passant par Legian qui est l'endroit que je préfère car moins de monde sur la plage .. autrement pourquoi pas aller directement sur Ubud de suite ??? je connais sur Keliki qui est à 10 km au nord d'Ubud un peintre qui accueille dans sa maison des français et c'est au calme et il peut aussi vous faire visiter les anlentours qu'il connaît parfaitement et c'est mon ami et je peux vous assurer de sa gentillesse et serviabilité et chez lui on est comme en famille .. vous pouvez chercher sur internet :je vous met le lien et vous pouvez regarder si cela vous tente .. http://dolit-keliki-painting-school.wifeo.com/
je pense trois nuist à Munduk sont suffisantes et vous pouvez ainsi passer 3 ou 5 nuits sur Ubud mitigées entre keliki et Ubud même ...
2 ou 3 nuits vers Amed .. ou une nuit ou deux sur Tirtaangganga qui est un de mes endroits préférés ... je vous donnerai si cela vous tente l'adresse d'un losmen super au dessus du palais .. et vous devez aller visiter le Pura Lempuyang ( temple en fait il y en a 7 ° c'est le second temple en importance sur Bali après pura Besakih mais il y a très peu de touristes au Lempuyang car 1700 marches pour atteindre le sommet ... et je vous garantis que la montée est très belle surtout avec la vue sur le mont Agung ... bon moi je vous donne juste les idées que j'aime ... tout comme au dessus d'ubud mes deux endroits favoris sont sur teempaksiring Tirta Empul ( les sources sacrées ) et Gunung Kawih ( les tombeaux royaux ) ...
Amed est un endroit très reposant et la route qui va de Amed à Amlapura par le bord de mer est superbe mais assez longue ( presque une journée et tout le long on peut trouver des hôtels sympas .. j'aime bien Wawa Wewe avec de jolis bingalows en bordure de mer et une piscine sympa ...
après Gili pourquoi pas mais très fréquentés ( surtout Gili trawangan pour la fête ) et assez cher je trouve surtout en haute saison ... moi je préfère aller sur Kuta Lombok avec les plages de Mawun et Selong blanak qui sont parmi les blus belles et pas encore trop envahis de touristes et pas encore d'Hôtels ...

Je réflechis encore à tout ca, sacahnt que l'on partira mi-septembre. Comment sont les rizieres à cette époque de l'année ? Sont elles coupées ? Y'a t'il des orages ?

Pour les rizières pas de soucis ... car ici il y a en fait 3 récoltes par an mais cela varie d'un endroit à un autre car pas possible d'inonder toutes les rizières de Bali en même temps et donc il y au un système très au point d'irrigation qui est géré par le conseil des Subaks ( canaux d'irrigation) et donc si à un endroit vous avez des rizières en attente .. plus loin ou plus bas vous en aurez en démarrage ou déjà vertes ... Mi Septembre est une très bone période pour voyager sur Bali car la saison des pluies est terminée ( la saison des pluies va de Décembre à Mai ) bien sûr vous pourrez avoir qq orages en Montagne mais plutôt l'après midi ou le soir

Et bien voilà, je crois que l'itinéraire est bouclé 😉 ! Après avoir tourné les étapes dans tous les sens, nous avons décidé de faire cet itinéraire. On laisse tomber Menjangan et on rajoute une nuit à Sidemen :

J12 : 1 nuit à Sidemen (De Amed à Sidemen guidé) J13 : 1 nuit à Sanur (De Sidemen à Sanur guidé ou simple chauffeur??) J14: Vol pour la France en fin de journée
Qu'en penses tu ? Par contre, une petite question pratique, j'ai vu sur les photos des iles gilis que les gens n'avaient pas de grosses valises pour prendre les bateaux, il y a t'il un moyen de laisser ses gros bagages à Amed ? Car en effet, pas besoin de grand chose sur Gili mais pour 2 semaines de voyages, la valise est un peu plus conséquente ! A ce propos, laquelle des 2 choisir (celle où l'on a le plus de chance de voir des tortues et des poissons, les meilleurs endroits ?) et peut on aller de l'une à l'autre facilement ? Au départ d'Amed, il y a t'il une compagnie de speed boat à privilégier (sécurité / prix) ? Merci pour tous les conseils que tu pourras me donner.

bonjour oui je trouve que ce programme est très bien et vous permet de voir un peu l'ensemble de bali pendant votre séjour .. pour la valise vous pourrez la laisser en dépôt au départ du speed boat ... je n'ai pas de préférence sur les compagnies de speed boat qui sont toutes presque équivalentes .... vous pourrez oui aller de l'une à l'autre des Gilis mais de toute façon vous devrez passer par un club pour vous emmenez sur des sites de snorkelling ... moi je ne connais que Gili Trawangan et Gili Air et il est vrai que j'aime AIr un peu plus sauvage et tranquille .....

Hi there,
I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before: - Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees. Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands. Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way). Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan. Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide). Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre. Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island. Day 10 – Head to Semporna. Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai. Day 15 – Bohey Dulang. Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous. I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing. I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture. But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary. If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.

For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

I’ll be in Malaysia with my wife, mainly in Langkawi and Penang for Christmas and New Year’s at the end of 2026.
If you’ve had the experience—and since I’ve read (though it’s not very clear) that these two islands get quite crowded during this period—would you recommend booking accommodation well in advance, or is it easy to find something on the spot?

Do you have any great tips for accommodation or any practical info to share?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. What do the experts here think? And which website can we use to book the tickets? Thanks in advance for your tips!

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!

Sandakan → Sepilok: No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??
Sandakan → Semporna: From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄). Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM. Where do I board, and where does it drop me off?
Semporna → Tawau: Found this via AI—is it legit? No online booking, as far as I can tell. Minivans leave from a stop in the Jalan Hospital area, near the Milimewa supermarket, supposedly???? And when you arrive, does it drop you at **Sabindo Square** in Tawau?????

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
