Pourriez-vous me donner quelques avis et conseils sur mon itinéraire (s'il est trop chargé certains jours si j'ai oublié des endroits immanquables ) ainsi que des idées de bungalows sympas de prix moyens sur koh tao et Koh phi phi :
Nous partons le samedi 11 septembre prochain de paris en vol sec, arrivé à phuket à 9h00 du matin
je comptai prendre directement le ferry de 13h30 pour koh phi phi (je sais que la cote ouest est risqué au niveau du temps en septembre mais j en garde un souvenir extraodinaire (je suis allé en thailhande il y a 15 ans) et j'ai vraiment envie de faire découvrir ça a mon ami
j1 : arrivée phuket 9h départ Koh phi phi 13h30 arrivée 15h30 / nuit a koh phi phi
j2 : koh phi phi découverte de l'ile/ nuit a koh phi phi
j3 : koh phi phi excursion à koh phi lee (ile du film"la plage") / nuit a koh phi phi
j3 : koh phi phi snorkellin plage / nuit a koh phi phi
j4 : départ ferry de 8h30 pour phuket (2h) puis bus pour phang nga (2h) arrivée phang nga vers 13h excursion toute l'apres midi à phang nga puis dans la soirée départ vers koh sok / nuit à koh sok (dans les cabanes)
j5 : journée à koh sok (rafting/éléphant) / nuit à koh sok (dans les cabanes)
j6 : journée au lac de koh sok pêche/repos / nuit à koh sok (dans les maisons flottantes)
j7 : départ 9h pour chumphon ou surat thani (j'hésites quel est le plus court selon vous a partir de koh saok) arrivé dans l'après midi à koh tao / nuit à koh tao
j8 : journée à koh tao plage, snorkelling) / nuit à koh tao
j9 : journée à koh tao tour de l ile en bateau snorkelling / nuit à koh tao
j10 : journée à koh tao plage, repos / nuit à koh tao
j11 : journée à koh tao (peut etre excurion au parc d'ang thong si c'est possible ?? ) / nuit à koh tao
j12 : départ vers koh samui 9h30 (2h) arivée à samui à 11h30 puis départ en avion de samui vers phuket décollage à 15h05 arrivée à phuket / soirée et nuit à phuket décollage a 7h30 le lendemain matin
Voila je me demande si la journée ou l on fait kohphiphi/ phan nga en bus, l'excursion l'apremidi puis repartir pour koh sok le soir n'est pas un peu chargé mais ca m' enbeterai de perdre une nuit a phang nga ou l'on m'a dit qu'il n y ai rien à voir.
Et je ne sais pas s'il est plus court ; en partant de khao sok pour rejoindre koh tao ; de passer par chumphon ou surat thani (je préfere mettre un peu plus cher mais faire au plus court) ?
Ca en fait des petites îles tout ca! 😮
Sinon pourquoi vous ne faites pas l'excursion dans la baie de Phang Nga en bateau depuis Phuket en une journée pour repartir le lendemain tranquillement a Khao Sok? Le jour 4 c'est vraiment trop surtout que vous prenez votre temps a Phi Phi et Tao qui sont de toutes petites îles un peu "same same" 😕 Sinon des endroits "immanquables" il y en a pleins pleins d'autres, la Thailande c'est aussi grand que la France 😛
je pense pas qu'on puisse commencer à comparer koh tao et koh phi phi. elles ont trop de différences au niveau de la culture local (l'un très musulman, l'autres beaucoup de birman), les infrastructures (dans l'une que des rue piétonne et dans l'autres ils y a des routes et une circulation automobile), les dimensions (l'une a un centre actif de moins d'un km carré et est beaucoup plus vaste), des fonds marins (pas la même mer), des paysages, des tarifs et j'en passe..

Ca n'est évidemment pas ce que je voulais dire mais il faut bien dire qu'il y a de nombreuses similitudes et que Tao est un peu a Samui ce qu'est Phi Phi a Phuket, des jolies petites îles orientées sur la plongée, la fiesta et le tourisme. On y trouve peu de thais et la plupart des commerces sont tenus par des farangs 😐 Après elles sont en effet très différentes car situées dans 2 mers différentes, entre autres 😛 Mais bon dans un seul voyage ne voir que Phi Phi et Tao, malgré un p'tit tour a Phang Nga et Khao Sok c'est un peu dommage a mon avis et c'est tout ce que je voulais dire 😉. Juste un avis et non une "vérité", il faut parfois "grossir" les faits pour faire passer le message 😛
En fait pour répondre au fait que tu te demandes pourquoi je fais ces deux îles c'est parce que je pars en septembre et que le temps coté koh phi phi est incertain mais je voulais absolument y retourner (car étant venus il ya 13 ans c'était un de mes meilleurs souvenirs). Si j'étais parti à la bonne période je serai surement rester presque tout mon séjour sur le coté mer d'andaman mais en choisissant de répartir mes jours de repos entre koh tao et koh phi phi je prends un peu moins de risques niveau météo.
Voila qd au fait de ne faire que 2 autres excursions phang nga et khao sok(on y reste qd meme 3j).
ce n'est vraiment pas notre genre d'itinéraire car nous voyageons toujours en routard à 100 a lheure pour voir un maximum du pays. Mais là ayant énormément travailler cet été avec mon ami nous avons vraiment envie de farniente (si je l'avais écouté on serait meme rester sur la meme île pendant une semaine). J'ai qd meme essayé de réinjecter des excursions mais en limitant au maximum les temps de transport. A ce propos connaissez vous le moyen le plus rapide d'arriver à koh tao au départ de khao sok. Je ne sais pas s'il faut passer par chumphon ou surat thani pour écourter au max le temps de trajet quitte à y mettre plus cher ?

Sur Koh Tao, c'est bien plus cher qu'ailleurs en Thaïlande.A titre d'exemple, nous avions 2 bungalows sans eau chaude ni clim, sympas mais propreté limite pour 1500 baths sans le petit déj. Et c'est ce que nous avons trouvé de mieux à ce tarif sur Tanote Bay.
Un conseil: si vous trouvez à un prix correct, prenez un petit bateau pour faire cette excursion. Les excursions vendues partout (journée avec 5 ou 6 arrêts, matériel et repas compris) font toutes le même parcours et aux mêmes heures. Résultat: tu te retrouves sur les différents sites à 4 ou 5 bateaux déversant chacun une quarantaine de plongeurs. Fais le total!!! De +, certains arrêts sont très rapides.Il faut aller à sharp bay pour voir les requins; allez-y de très bonne heure, tous les bateaux y sont vers 10h et contournent ensuite l'île vers l'est pour finir sur une pose plage à Nan gyuan vers 14-15h.Là aussi, c'est bondé à cette heure! Nous, si c'était à refaire, on louerait le matos (palmes, ...) et on prendrait un bateau-taxi tous seuls pour faire cela à des heures différentes.
On s'est renseigné : ça ne se fait pas, trop loin. Il faut y aller de Koh samui ou koh Phan Gan.
Et c'est ce que nous avons trouvé de mieux à ce tarif sur Tanote Bay.
Il ne faut pas rester à Tanote, il n'y a pas de choix le bas car c'est isolé et dure d'accès.
Sinon 1500 THB pour 2 bungalow ca fait 750 THB pour un bungalow. C'est pas si cher que ca pour une ile.
hello, par prix moyens jentends 25€ dans les 1000 baths et je pensait trouver quelquechose de sympas a ce prix étant donner quon est vraiment en basse saison ? Sur quelle plage etes vous aller jai lu que mango bay(nord) et ao leuk était super mais peut etre sont -elles un peu trop isolées ?

vous pouvez envisager aussi de rallier Phang nga depuis Phi Phi en passant par Krabi (bato Phi Phi - Krabi à 9 heures le matin, puis bus). Et passer la nuit à Phang Nga avant de rallier Kao Sok le lendemain matin de bonne heure. Ce sera moins fatiguant.

oui c'était une de mes options mais j ai lu que le ferry partant de koh phi phi pour kraki ne partait qu'a 10h30 alors que celui de koh phi phi/phuket partait à 8h30 c'est pour ca que j'avais pris cet option mais si tu me dis qu'il part a 9 h alors ca pourrait être une bonne idée Est ce que l'arrivée à Krabi est plus joli ?
Penses tu quon peux gagner pas mal de temps en prenant un taxi entre krabi et phang nga ?

Euh non, à Phanun View ya des jolis bungalows à 250B à flanc de colinne vue sur la mer !
A Tanote Bay, endroit sympa pour le snorkeling.
C'est vrai que 750 baths ne semble pas cher mais si on compare avec le reste de la Thaïlande, à ce prix, on avait de jolies chambres avec clim, eau chaude, petit déj et piscine.Là, rien de tout cela et entretien (mégots au dessous du lit...) + accueil limite...
Il y a bien un bateau Phi Phi Krabi à neuf heures, tout comme Phi Phi Phuket, à neuf heures aussi et pas huit heures et demie. La route Krabi Phang Nga est en effet très sympa. Un taxi fait gagner bien entendu du temps, mais reviendra plus cher que les transports en commun...

On vient de rentrer de 10 jours du Sud thaillande (bangkok-ko tao-ko lantha-puket-krabi- bangkok)
A kho tao On nous avait déconseillé la cote andaman a cause du temps: mousson
il a fait tres beau les 4 derniers jours et gris le reste du temps. Vraiment sympa
Ton programme me semble bien mais sache qu'il y un bateau de nuit de surathani vers kho tao vers 20H et arrive vers 8 H...idem le retour.
Il faut aimer les grands dortoirs flottants mais cela permet de gagner une journée de transport et c'est une experience vraiment sympa.
Le bateau de jour au départ de Sura thani est plus rapide mais escale par Samui ( environ 6 heures)
De chumphon, nous avons pris à l'aller l'express de la lompaya pour kho tao, il met une 1H45. Il faut voir les horaires.
On a adore le snorkelling a kho tao ( coraux et eau plus claire qu'à Ko phi phi), location d'un long tail à la journée 2000 Bath pour la famille ,2adultes et 4 enfants) avec 6 spots différents de snorkling differents, ils nous arreteé où on le souhaité ( carte de ko tao avec les bon endroits de plongées, de toute facon il connaissait tres bien les sites) . Cela evite les gros bateaus surchargés. Tu es plus indépendant
Logement ko tao ( gens moins sympas que ailleurs....lié aux nombre plus important de touristes?). on voulait le Freedom, accueil super désagréable, on est parti. On a fait une nuit au OK2 bungalows: restaurant avec tres belle vue vraiment bien, mais bungalow trop petit pout six et pas de plage...pour 2 c'est peut etre bien)
On a finit au Bigfish juste à cote du kho tao ressort, pratique pour une famille avec jolie plage.Nous ont organisé le bateau de nuit pour krabi.Pas de soucis
on a fait phang gna sous la pluie...a refaire sous un beau soleil...location pour la famille d'un Long tail pour 1500 bath.

J'avoue que pour le retour de koh tao a phuket l'avion me parait une bonne option car jai regardé il met 1h pour faire koh samui phuket pour 60e (il me reste juste à convaincre mon ami qui a peur dans l'avion de bien vouloir reprendre une ligne intérieure.
Pour l'aller sais tu le temps de trajet de khao sok a chumphon en bus ou en taxi ? j'avoue que le ferry de nuit ne m'emballe pas trop jai peur de pas dormir de la nuit.
Sur koh tao, je pense que je vais essayé comme vous de louer un long tail a la journée avec d'autres gens car on est que deux ou de prendre un bateau taxi .

on til prévu un bus qui enchaine bien avec le ferry ?
je pense que de Kao sok à Chaumphon il y a au moins 200 km . En taxi cela me semble difficile par contre il y a surement des bus.

Il faut aller un peu plus loin que la ruelle ou il y a les boutique et notamment vers la mosquée pour apprécier un coté moins "touristique" mais c'est un vrai village de pêcheurs, gipsies et musulmans.
Sinon il y a aussi un tour en kayak dans la mangrove et en visitant des grottes qui est sympa a faire et généralement compris dans les tours en speed boat pour visiter la baie 🙂

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??

From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄).
Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM.
Where do I board, and where does it drop me off?

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

July 30: Makassar – sightseeing
July 31: Makassar – sightseeing + overnight bus to Rantepao
August 1–7: Tana Toraja with a guide
August 7: Tana Toraja to Tentena + visit Tentena
August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands
August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts)
August 15: Depart Togian Islands for Luwuk
August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar
August 17: Rammang Rammang
August 18: Stroll in Makassar, then return home

I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
