Kayaking in the Lofoten Islands, Norway

Thirty-seven years ago, I crossed Lapland on skis in winter... Four years later, I returned by bike to the Lofoten Islands. Now, I’d like to go back to this stunning country by sea kayak—a sport I’ve been practicing for the past 10 years. If it’s possible to meet up with one or more people for this little trip this year, it’s pretty quick to organize. Otherwise, in 2026, I’d love to kayak around Norway as well. If you’d like to join me for part of the route, that’d be awesome. Some sections require solid kayaking skills and excellent physical condition. I’m 58 and retired this year—in September—due to disability. Looking forward to your questions and/or interest in joining! Improvisation is often part of the plan!!

Thirty-seven years ago, I crossed Lapland on skis in winter... Four years later, I returned by bike in the Lofoten Islands. Now, I’d like to go back to this beautiful country by sea kayak—a sport I haven’t practiced in a while, about 10 years. If it’s possible to meet one or more people for this little trip this year, it’s pretty quick to organize. Otherwise, in 2026, I’d love to kayak around Norway. If you’d like/can join me for part of the route, that’d be cool. Some sections require solid kayaking skills and excellent physical condition. Hi, it’s Patricia from Nice. I’m sporty—I’m 62 and still active as a firefighter. I also travel by bike around the world. Last year, with two friends, we organized a self-sufficient kayak expedition in Greenland, from Ilulissat to the Eqi Glacier. Incredible! I’d be very interested in kayaking in Norway. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Patricia, Finally, I didn’t make it to the Lofoten Islands. Now that I’m retired, I’m planning to get out and about a bit more. I’m still drawn to kayaking in the north. I’d love to do a tour of the Baltic Sea, Lake Baikal, or even Lake Ladoga. Russia isn’t the best destination right now... Still, there’s plenty left to explore. I’m also thinking about kayaking around Norway, from north to south... Do you have any plans for this year? Gaëdic. PS: Sorry I didn’t see your message sooner. I don’t come on this site often, and notifications are turned off!!

Hi Gaédic,

I just read your reply too... I don’t visit the site often either.

I’ve just returned from a 20-day bike trip in ALBANIA with two friends. A great adventure, both sporty and human.

The Nordic countries appeal to me as well, like everything I haven’t experienced yet. I don’t have many vacation days left this year, but I haven’t planned anything specific for 2027. I love bike touring, diving, kayaking, hiking... basically anything active, far from crowds, and self-sufficient if possible.

Here’s my email: patricia.signroi06@gmail.com

I live in NICE. I’m 63 and still working (with the fire department).

Looking forward to exchanging emails.

Have a great day!
