Nous terminons actuellement la 1ère semaine de notre Road trip dans l ouest USA et je souhaitais partager la fantastique journée que nous avons passé au Lac powell.
Je n avais jamais conduit un bateau de ma vie (tout juste un pédalo 1 ou 2 fois 😉) et j étais donc un peu anxieux par cette journée. Au final ca a été fantastique. Nous sommes passés par la société B&T marine. Ils sont dans Page et non à la Marina mais ça vaut vraiment le coup. Toni a été exceptionnelle avec moi, elle a pris le temps de m expliquer plusieurs fois (je ne pense pas que ce soir le cas à la Marina) de me rassurer et ma même proposé de me rembourser la location le jour même si au final je ne me sentais pas. Ca restera probablement une des rencontres qui restera dans nos tête. Nous avions pris le Valet service qui emmène votre bateau à la Marina et vient le chercher en fin de journee. L avantage c'est qu au lieu de faire le plein à la Marina ou vous risquez de lâcher plus de 100 dollars, on vous emmène le bateau à une station en ville. Résultat 35 dollars de carburant pour notre journee. La location était en plus moins cher que celle des agences de la Marina.
Nous avions loué une bouée à accrocher au bateau et les enfants se sont éclatés !
Le site est magnifique et ca permet de s accorder une journée à la cool. Je ne peux que vous le recommander si vous pouvez vous le permettre car ç est vrai que c'est un budget conséquent.

Je trouve trop peu d'infos sur internet.
On va passer 2 nuits au Lake Powell resort en Juin 2018, et eux meme ne repondent pas a mes mails pour connaitre les modalités et tarifs.
Peut on louer a la demi journée ? parce qu'une journée de 8h a 17h on ne pourra pas helas....par contre de 12h a 17h par exemple ca serait parfait !
j'ai regardé sur leur site c'est 300$ la journée pour le 18"
Pour le valet service c'est 125$, mais mis a part le service de remorquage à l'aller et au retour, et nous emener faire le plein en ville, comment ca se passe pour nous, on les suit avec notre voiture ?

Je ne sais pas s ils proposent de location à la 1/2 journee malheureusement mais vous pouvez essayer d' envoyer un mail ou un message sur le compte FB de BT Marine pour voir.
La journee passe tres vite et 1/2 journee ç est quand même chaud le temps de faire le briefing et de mettre le bateau à la Marina tu perds vite une heure le matin. On a pas vu la journee passer.
On avait 2 nuits également à Page et on a pu le caser sans souci en faisant Antelope, horseshoe bend (la veille en arrivant) le barrage et en partant pas trop tard de Page mais vous avez peut être un plus gros programme que nous dans le coin.
Pour le valet service, après avoir fait le briefing et rempli les papiers à l agence on suit en voiture et on se gare à la Marina (l entrée à la Marina est compris dans le Pass beautifull). On a du mettre 1/4 d heure pour arriver à la Marina. Pour le retour ç est pareil. Il est apparement possible de passer la veille pour faire toutes ces formalités et gagner du temps le jour J.
Ca me revenait de mémoire moins cher avec le valet que les loc directement à la Marina et je ne pense pas que j aurai eu le même contact et les mêmes explications. Pour une 1/2 journee je pense que ç est mieux pour optimiser de prendre le bateau directement à la Marina mais je ne sais pas s'ils le font.
À la demie journée il y a un truc qui a l air top (notamment car j avais un peu la trouille de conduire pour la 1ère fois un bateau qui en France nécessite un permis...) mais qui est hors de prix .... j ai vu ca sur TripAdvisor (Randy) et ç est une personne qui nous emmène sur son bateau et apprend aux enfants le ski nautique et propose des formules à la 1/2 j ou la journee. Mais la 1/2 journee revient plus cher que la journée complète d une location de bateau.
Cette journee permet de souffler un peu même si nous ç est arrivé un peu tôt (j5) et on était encore bien en forme !
Pour revenir sur le lac Powell. Ç est Super beau mais j ai trouvé que ça ne vaut pas les paysages qu'on a pu voir dans les différents parcs. Ç est surtout le fait de louer le bateau qui a rendu la journee magique. Les enfants n'avaient jamais fait de bouées et la on peut y aller à fond autant qu'on le souhaite ! Les enfants se sont éclatés ça fait partie d un de leurs meilleurs souvenirs.
N hésites pas si tu as besoin d autre infos.

On hesite entre la location d'un petit bateau comme on a l'habitude de louer quand on va faire les Gorges du Verdon (on est a 2h de route), donc un peu familiarisés, ou bien decouvrir le kayak ou le jet ski...
le jet ski revient a peu pret a 500$ la demi journée pour 2 jets, et on en en jamais fait.
le kayak connait pas non plus, mais c'est tres peu cher ! 25$ les 2 heures pour 1 kayak 2 places !
la bouée c'est geniales les enfants adores, moi beaucoup moins mdr! on en a deja fait quand on est sortis en bateaux chez nous (region PACA), vive les sensations fortes!!!!!
sur Page on a prevu Horseshoe bend, Antelope canyon (le lower), la promenade et detente sur le lake powell, et voila c'est tout ! on sera a notre 9eme jour de voyage sur 31, mais la detente est importante en road trip avec des enfants lol !

Nous envisageons nous aussi de louer un bateau pour une journée complète sur le lake Powell, l'été prochain, mais je recherche plus d'infos : coût total (location du bateau, valet service, carburant, éventuelle bouée à tracter ou autre de ce genre), déroulement (horaire, adresse de l'agence, circuit à faire sur le lac ?...)...
Je m'interroge aussi sur la journée ou la demi-journée : une journée n'est-ce pas trop ? Une demi-journée, n'est-ce pas trop peu ?
Nous avons prévu cette étape à la 9ème journée de notre road-trip de 27 jours : deux jours sur place dont un sur le lac et, le lendemain, antelope et horseshoe bend pour ensuite prendre la route en milieu d'après-midi pour Monument valley.

La location a la journée nous avait coûté 550$ avec le valet service. Cependant Emmanuelle qui y est allée cet été m a dit qu apparemment ils n ont plus le droit d emmener les bateaux à la Marina.
Je conseille plutôt la journée pour en profiter. Ça fait du bien d avoir le temps pendant une journée. Une demi journée je trouve que ça fait trop court. Le temps d arriver on doit déjà penser à repartir.
Sinon nous n’avons pas eu besoin de faire le plein sur la Marina. On est allées dans une station en ville en ramenant le bateau et ça nous a coûté le prix d un plein de voiture.

Sur les conseils de Michael nous avons loué un petit bateau chez B&T Marine a Page en Juin.
Quelle fabuleuse journée, non sans stress mais merveileusse quand meme lol.
Tony est d'une patience extraordinaire et nous a traduit chacune de ses explications avec siri pour etre sûre qu'on ait bien TOUT compris !
Son mari et ses 3 petites tetes blondes sont adorables aussi.
Ils n'ont plus le droit de faire le valet service ce que nous a fait economiser de l'argent mais depenser du stress au debut !
En fait ils nous ont loué un gros pick up (noir avec des flammes sur les cotés mdr) + la remorque avec le bateau deja installé dessus pour 50$.
On a donc payé exatement 300$+ 50$
Avec le cours du dollars de l'hiver dernier ma journee location m'avait donc couté 280€.
Le gros stress fut le moment de mettre en mer le bateau et encore pire au moment de le remettre seuls sur la remorque. C'etait la toute premiere fois pour nous, ça a eté un oeu chaud.
Mais en dehors de ça tout c'est bien deroulé on a passé une super journée.
Au retour on a fait le plein du bateau a la pompe a Page et on s'en est sorti pour 36$ (sur la marin le plein frole les 100$)
Je ne peux que vous conseiller B&T Marine.

Merci pour ces infos. En effet en terme de prix ca peut valoir le coup. Nous aurons en guise de voiture de location un chevrolet suburban. Je ne sais pas s'il aura un crochet d'attelage mais si c'est le cas peut-être pourrions nous ne prendre que leur remorque sans le gros 4x4 à flammes... par contre le fait de mettre le bateau à l'eau j'avoue que ça m'effraie un peu. J'aurais peur d'abimer le bateau. Et sinon vous conseilleriez quoi en durée : la journée ou seulement l'apm ?

Oui j'avoue je suis flemarde pour le carnet mais je vais me booster et creer un post, ca pourra servir a d'autres personnes.
J'ai a peine eu la force de faire 2 enormes livres photos et 2 toiles de nos photos, mais encore eu le courage de me mettre au montage du film....je croule sous les videos et photos, a chaque fois que j'essais de m'y mettre je panique lol !

plus de jours a los angeles qu'on a surkiffé, encore 3 nuits a Vegas, nouveau passage par le grand canyon , puis cette fois decouverte de Tucscon, Phoenix, Sedona...
ce fut un voyage de reve, comme je l'avait immaginé pendant ces longs mois de preparation! on en parle tous les jours, on est hyper nostalgiques.
Nous avions un gros Ford Expedition, mais si mes souvenirs sont bons ils ne louent pas seulement la remorque, il faut prendre la pick up + la remorque.
d'ailleurs il a une banquette arriere ce pick up (je mettrait la photo ce soir)
On etait de grand novice, mais mon mari est assez debrouillard, il a gerer au mieux, mais le moment le plus stressant et le plus dur a été le retour, pour remettre le bateau sur la remorque, il s'agissait de revenir vers la mise a l'eau et de viser juste pour que le bateau glisse juste sur la remorque sans frotter le sol ! quel moment d'euphorie quand le 3eme essais fut le bon , les gens autour qui nous regardaient été soulagés aussi lol !
J'avais la boule au ventre, et j'etais un peu impuissante aussi, je suis resté avec les enfants, on ne pouvait que rester a la regarder galerer.
Je ne crois pas qu'on puisse reserver a l'avance une demi journée avec b&t marine, mais peut etre qu'en y allant sur les coup de 11h, vous pourrait negocier la demi journée de loc, mais si je peux vous conseiller un truc, prenez la journée.
c'est 8h - 17h mais le temps de trajet (15min) + le temps de mettre le bateau a l'eau (des fois il y a un peu d'attente) 30 min + le retour, la remise sur remorque (30 min) + trajet retour (15min) + le temps de refaire le plein (15min) pour etre a 17h a B&T, vous aurez juste assez de temps de profiter pleinement du lac, qui est immense (d'ailleurs on a jamais compris le schema des cartes qui ne correspondait pas a ce qu'on voyait....mystere!) du coup on a un peu galerer pour se promener loin de la mise a l'eau, on a perdu une grosse heure...

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

Nowadays, all rental cars come with GPS, but do you know if you can use it without paying for the GPS rental? I have no idea since I always use my own!
We went as a family to Mount Rushmore in 2023, where my son bought a multi-function pocket knife like the one below with his name engraved—'NOAH'.
Unfortunately, he just lost it, and he was really attached to it. So, if there’s a kind soul passing by Mount Rushmore who could bring one back for me (I’d obviously cover all costs), that would be amazing for my son.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

**Parking:**
We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. For those who’ve done both Lower and Upper, can you tell me if the price difference is really justified? Thanks

As you can see, we're heading back from September 6th to the 27th.

Cinder Cone and Painted Dunes (Day 4)
Devil’s Kitchen and Boiling Spring Lake (Day 5)
I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
Thanks for advising me on the booking—should I reserve a room in the hotel or go for a cabin for the best view?

I’m planning a week-long family trip to NYC in October 2026. The focus is on museums and soaking up the New York vibe. I’ve been checking Airbnb, but the prices in Manhattan are through the roof. Since I don’t know NYC well, is it "wise" to look outside Manhattan? Any neighborhoods you’d recommend?
After our first trip to the West, we’d love to go back to see other must-see spots!

What do you think? Could we add one more night somewhere? We’re not big hikers, so we’ll mostly explore the parks using shuttles.
Also, we’re all set—passports are good. Do you think one classic Visa card and one premium Visa card will be enough for coverage?

Just a little post that might interest some of you:
Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

I’m planning a week in S.F. in April 2026 and I can’t figure out how to tell the cable cars—of which I understand there are three lines—apart from the trams, which I think number seven. I can’t find their individual numbers or routes anywhere.
Could someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks in advance.
