Hi everyone, I’m planning a trip from mid-January to the end of February but I just can’t make up my mind 😕 I’ve looked into a few different options: Brazil, Cambodia, and Ecuador. The last one really appeals to me, but what’s making me hesitate is the risk of our trip being a bit too rainy (literally ), We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!! Can anyone help me make up my mind or decide to postpone it for later? But for this year, I don’t have any other time slot to travel. Thanks for reading this far! !

Hi there, We went in November, which is also in the rainy season, but honestly, we didn’t get much rain—just a few heavy showers! It’s a really nice country. As for transportation, you should know that the bus network is super extensive. There are tons of buses, and they stop outside of bus stations too. So it’s not a problem to hop off whenever you feel like it! But renting a car in certain places seems like a good idea to me.

Good evening, thanks for your reply! I’ve been reading some travel journals that also reassure me, so I’m planning my itinerary for about a month... Now I just need to find flight tickets, but prices are pretty high right now 😵 I don’t have fixed dates, so that gives me a little flexibility. Did any region particularly stand out to you?

Hi there, I really enjoyed the Volcano Route, from Loja to Otavalo. Cuenca and its surroundings are worth spending several days in. I didn’t want to dive into the Amazon, but we spent 2 days on the edge of it from Baños, and it was an amazing experience. Mindo is nice, but I wouldn’t make the detour again... I don’t have time to write a travel journal for VF, but you can check out my blog

Thanks so much for your reply! I’ll keep it in mind, but after lots of discussions, a friend convinced us to go to Peru instead!!! (What a change of heart!!!) So, same weather question 😕, but nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? Maybe we’ll get lucky with Machu Picchu?? .

Good evening, We went to Peru from January 9th to 24th, 2014, and overall had great weather. For Machu Picchu, there had been a landslide on the road from Aguas Calientes to the site, so we had to walk the last part on foot, but we got a good view of it and there were no clouds... However, we got caught in a hailstorm on the bus back to Cusco—it was pretty impressive!
