Bonjour, je pars 5 semaines au laos et cambodge ( 10 juillet-19 aout), je sais que le palu sévit énormément au Laos, est-il obligatoire de prendre un traitement et, si oui, lequel ? Merci d'avance

Pour moi, pas de souci...Existe certes, mais dans des zones qui ne voient pas un touriste! 250 morts au Cambodge l'annee dernière...et bien sur des personnes prealablement affaiblies par de trés difficiles conditions de vie...Laissez les anti paludeens aux populations pour qui ils peuvent sauver la vie plutot que de creer des resistances par des absorbtions inutiles . Bon voyage.

Bonjour,
Pour savoir s'il est préférable de prendre un traitement contre le paludisme je vous conseille de consulter soit un généraliste soit un centre de vaccination qui vous dira d'après les zones que vous fréquenterez dans ces 2 pays s'il est souhaîtable ou non de vous traiter. En ce qui concerne le Cambodge, si vous restez à Phnom Penh, il n'est pas indispensable de suivre un traitement. Mais si vous allez voyager à l'intérieur du pays (notamment vers Angkor qui est très impaludé), il serait plus prudent de prendre ses précautions.
En ce qui concerne les traitements, il y en a 3 différents (le médecin vous détaillera les avantages et les inconvénients de chacun). Pour ma part, je pars pour 3 mois au Cambodge, et le médecin m'a prescrit le "Lariam". Attention, si vous n'avez pas de bonne mutuelle, vous ne serez pas remboursée et la boite coûte 45 euros!

Merci de ta réponse johanna mais le problème des généraliste c'est qu'a les écouter faudrait faire tout les vaccins, qui ne sont pas toujours utilent alors je préfère demander au voyageurs expérimenté avant de prendre une décision. Salutations!
LAOS/Cambodge kifkif...La rage elle est endemique...les vaccins ne sont pas obligatoires...eloigne toi des chiens quand ils se bastonnent et ne caresse pas les plus sympa, un coup de smurf est vite arrivé...Bon, les medecins en France suivent des instructions sans rien y connaitre...Si tu veux etre completement rassurée, prends une boite de Lariam et si tu as une crise de palu (tu prends 4 cachets :traitement de choc, tu seras nazes plusieurs jours mais guerrie)...LES RISQUES sont +, les accidents de vehicule, le sexuellement transmissible, les amibes et la Dengue...Bon courage...en 20ans d'asie, je n'ai rien attrappé alors qu'en FRance....(bouhhhhh!!!) KEEP COOL!🙂 En cas de merde, tu files en thailande, c'est le vrai conseil!

Merci beaucoup pour ta réponse Roger, ça me conforte sue ce que je pensais : ras-le-bal de prendre des cachetons pour rien !! Je suivrais ton conseil de prendre une boite de lariam ( au cas ou!!) . Par contre est-ce qu'il faut que je prennes une moustiquaire ? Merci encore de tes conseil pratique . Salutations.

je suis sûr que tu as autant de moustiques à Anduze ! Si tu achètes une boite de lariam essaie d'avoir une date de peremption eloignée comme ca tu l'auras sur plusieurs voyages...et ne la donne pas à un local (sauf medecin). A moins que tu voyages hyper cheap, tu auras des moustiquaires partout...par ailleurs tu peux en acheter sur place! Mets tes reves dans ta valise et laisse les te porter...je serai sur phnom penh de mi juillet à fin aout, si tu as des soucis, fais signe...BY

Juillet-Août au Laos et Cambodge c'est la pleine saison des pluies. Vu la taille et l'emplacement des villes, les moustiques ne sont pas que dans la campagne et le risque est, de mon point de vue, très élevé de jour comme de nuit. Personnellement, je ne prends pas ce risque. Malaronne et Off (ou 5/5) pour limiter les piqures. Même avec ça, le risque n'est pas nul mais le paludisme n'est pas le genre de souvenir que j'ai envie de rapporter de ces pays. Après chacun fait ce qu'il veut il n'y a jamais rien d'obligatoire.
J'ai toujours aimé le désert. On s'assoit sur une dune de sable. On ne voit rien. On n'entend rien. Et cependant quelque chose rayonne en silence... --> Mon Portfolio Photo <--
Le Lariam est un anti paludeen bien pratique - 1 prise par semaine - mais qui peut avoir des effets secondaires assez forts (deprime, hallucinations, etc..) ! Il est plutot deconseille pour les voyageurs qui partent seuls...
Oui beaucoup ont des effets secondaire avec le Lariam., à ceux dont tu parles on peut rajouter nausées, fatigue ...On ne prends pas des molecules sans risques d'effets secondaires (ils ne sont pas systematique! Bidulette, cela rassure de prendre des medocs avec soi mais ne prends cela QUE SI TU NE PEUX RIEN FAIRE D'AUTRE!...

Je n'ai pas le reflexe médocs, et je n'aime pas du tout les effets des traitaments anti-palu ( l'année dernière : 8 semaines à la Savarine 😕). Donc je vais suivre ton conseils Roger, faire le minimum, pareille pour les vaccins . Je me protegerais avec des répulsifs, vetements manches longues ....Et je veut surtout pas partir evec une parano😉 Bises à bientôt.
Bon ben nous on n'est pas encore vaccinés non plus.On se tartine pas mal de produits locaux pour éloigner les moustiques, chacun son roller ou son tube, plus un de dépannage en cas de perte.De 17h45 à 18h30 environ, on reste à l'abri tant qu'on peut le faire.Voilà.Et on voyage avec nos enfants, et tout le monde se protège comme ça.On porte aussi de préférence des manches et des jambières, amples ça protège du soleil aussi.En fait c'est ici qu'on panique un peu, mais avec de la vigilence, ça doit bien se passer.

Je suis bel et bien décidé a partir sans traitement . Par contre je vais prendre pas mal de répulsifs. Prenez-vous des répulsifs de bases ou ce proposez dans les guides à base de DEET 50 etc...qui sont assez chers.

Nous nous achalandons de préférence en Thailande, car le Laos est assez pauvre et ne dispose pas forcément de tels produits dans chaque région.Ca peut donc se faire à l'aéroport de Bkk si vous y passez.L'avantage, pour nous en tous cas, c'est que les produits sont peu chers et que nous voyageons à 5.De plus je les crois mieux adaptés que ceux de nos pharmacies.On a testé les roller(comme les déo) il y a 3 ans ou plus, et c'est ce qui est le mieux à notre avis(le plus cher aussi mais 400 tbh le maxi flacon).Ca ne coule pas, ça ne colle pas, ... et pourtant, c'est efficace.

je pars au laos pour 3 semaines du 24/01 au 17/02, trajet Paksé pour rejoindre le Nord du pays via vientiane (itinéraire exact encore en consctruction) j'ai lu et relu tous les posts sur le palu et nos amis les moustiques, cette période est elle particulièrement "infestée" ou relativement calme?
D'autre part qui a testé un appareil à ultrasons qui s'achète chez nature et découvertes et qui est censé éloigner les femelles moustiques les non fécondées étant parait il celles qui piquent...???

Bonsoir, non nous n'avons jamais rien utilisé, sauf des préparations à base de plantes faites chez un herboriste à nice.Cela n'engage que nous de ne rien prendre contre le palud, mais honnetement je pense que en suivant les précautions de type rester à l'abri entre 18h et 18h30 environ, porter des vetements qui couvre tout le corps dès 18 heures, et se tartiner toute la journée avec un roller contre les moustiques, la nuit prise anti moustique ds la chambre, et s'il n'y a pas de courant la nuit, alors se protéger la peau.
Je ne connais pas le niveau d'infestation à cette période, n'hésitez pas à demander l'avis d'autres forumistes.

Bonsoir, effectivement l'arrivée des moustiques n'est pas minutée, mais elle correspond au moment même où l'on passe du jour à la nuit.Rester prudent avant et après tout de même.
Pour la préparation, je ne suis malheureusement ni druide ni herboriste.Cherchez un herboriste ds votre ville, certaines pharmacies ont la possibilité de vous faire préparer des gelules à base de plantes ( en ce qui me concerne, je demande toujours un désinfectant intestinal additionné d'un répulsif moustique).Cela n'a rien de médical, seulement médicinal.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?

I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.
After all that, and even though I’ll obviously contact the relevant authorities in each country (fingers crossed for a response 😛), here’s my question: Has anyone here had any experience with this? (Even if it’s a different medication or different countries, any input would be helpful!)

We’d like to know if there’s a real risk of Zika contamination on those islands, because from what we’ve found online, the recorded cases are old and come from the Sotavento Islands.
We’re thinking about canceling our trip.
If you’ve recently traveled to Cape Verde or live there, do you have any thoughts on this?

Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...
Have any of you been in this situation before? How does it work at customs—do I need to declare everything that exceeds the 3-month limit? Do I need a letter from my doctors?

I’m planning a trip to Thailand in October or November, and I wanted to check about health precautions: malaria treatment, vaccinations (hepatitis A or others...). I’ll mostly be in the northern region, around Chiang Mai, where I’ll spend a lot of time in nature and the mountains. Then I’ll head south to Phuket or Krabi and visit Khao Sok National Park. I’ll finish up in Bangkok, with a likely detour to Kanchanaburi.
From what I understand, for a stay of less than 60 days, I don’t need a visa (I’m a French national)? I just need to fill out the TDAC form 3 to 5 days before arrival?

Hi there! So, I'm hesitating about taking a long trip. I'd like to go away for 2 to 3 months and travel across several continents. I’d love some advice. I often have unexplained allergies and need to follow a daily treatment for my diabetes (insulin). I think I can get authorization from my doctor to travel for 6 months with the treatment—is that correct? After those 6 months, is it possible (instead of bothering a relative to send the medication) to see a foreign doctor to get another 6-month travel authorization? How does it work at the airport? Do I need just one medication transport authorization, or do I have to request a new one in each country (once the treatment runs out) for both the flight and a DCI? Also, travel insurance doesn’t cover chronic illnesses, so will I have to pay for foreign consultations out of pocket? I’m not sure if I explained myself clearly. I’ve read the discussions on this topic, but the most recent one is from last year, and I’d love your take on the current situation. I’m familiar with the usual options like Europ Assistance and AXA, but I’ve just discovered Chapka and Heymondo (the latter seems interesting in terms of both price and coverage).
What do you think of these last two? How do they compare in terms of value for money against the bigger companies?

We’ve planned a 3-week trip to Bali this summer with our 7-year-old daughter. The itinerary includes Sanur, Nusa Lembongan, Sidemen, Amed, and Ubud. The more time passes, the more we read about people getting sick—some with mild to severe traveler’s diarrhea, and many ending up in the hospital. We, as parents, have been through it in Egypt with pretty bad cases, but we’d really like to avoid that for our daughter. Even though there’s no zero risk, and we’ll be careful, can any of you reassure me? Not everyone got sick, right? I’d love to hear positive feedback from parents, but not just them 😊.
