Nous partons en famille pendant 1 an en australie (deux enfants et deux adultes, congés sabbatiques). Je recherche plein d'info surtout concernant les possibilités de visa et de scolarisation de nos enfants (6 et 9 ans).

Pour le visa, l'Australie est un pays treeeeesss sensible a ce sujet 😉 c'est a dire que les aller-venus pour renouveller les visas tous les 3 mois passent rarement inappercus et que les douanes peuvent etre assez desagreables 🤪 Pour faire simple, quand vous prendrez votre billet pour l'Australie vous aurez automatiquement un visa touriste electronique valable pour une periode de 3 mois. Ensuite il faudra sortir du pays pour renouveller votre visa et ainsi de suite. La encore c'est pas comme en Asie ou Amerique Centrale ou il suffit de passer la douane en bus. Il vous faudra aller soit en NZ soit dans une ile du pacifique sud et ca rajoute un sacre budget pour 4 personnes a chaque fois!
Pour la scolarite je ne sais pas trop. Je vous conseille de contacter le consulat de france a sydney par telephone a ce sujet. Ils sont ouverts du lundi au vendredi de 9h a 13h heure locale. Mais si vous comptez voyager dans le pays, je vous conseille plutot de prendre l'option CNED pour que vos enfants restent dans le systeme francais. Il y a un lycee francais a Sydney mais l'annee scolaire est differente de la France. Les enfants rentrent a l'ecole en fevrier je crois et finissent en decembre.

L'Australie est un pays tres agreable a visiter et pour y vivre du moment qu'on peut y travailler. Or obtenir un visa de travail est loin d'etre aise surtout en periode de crise. Le cout de la vie ici est eleve pour une famille de 4 donc mieux vaut savoir a l;avance ou on met les pieds 🙂
L'idée est simple: apprendre l'anglais (les parents parlent déjà un peu) et découvrir une autre culture. Pour cela l'idée était de partir pour une longue période en Australie. Mais avec les enfants, soit nous partons pendant les vacances scolaires (trop court) soit nous partons sur toute une année scolaire pour qu'ils ne perdent rien (année acceptée par mon employeur juste maintenant!).
Le problème du CNED est que les enfants n'auront pas assez (je crains) de contact et vont continuer à parler en français et nous allons rester dans notre petit monde sans assez d'échange. Nous risquons donc de passer une année sans vraiment s'impliquer dans la vie australienne, en "touriste".
Donc en premier temps trouver une école ou un moyen pour que nos enfants. J'ai trouvés trois lycées acceptant et donnant des cours de même niveau qu'en France, en bilingue:
- lycée Condorcet à Sydney (pas de réponse encore à mes messages)
- Telopea à Canberra (où il semble que l'éducation est justement pousser vers une intégration et pour l'anglais)
- EFM à Melbourne (où le directeur me répond que sans visa 457 je ne peux prétendre inscrire mes enfants). Il invite à voir avec des écoles privées (je dois les chercher) mais m'avertis que c'est très cher (et sans salaire à 4 pendant 1 an...)
L'autre solution est de trouver une école locale suffisamment "ouverte" pour accepter nos chers petits qui ne parlent pas anglais.
J'ai vu aussi qu'en Nouvelle Zélande (Aukland) il y a une association qui permet de suivre les enfants dans leur scolarité par correspondance. Les enfants suivent les cours du CNED et sont regroupés à des heures précises pendant la semaine avec de vrais prof anglophones (mais connaissant le système français) qui regardent où ils en sont et "remplacent" les parents. Peut-être qu'ils existent la même chose à Sydney?
Bien sûr le décalage entre les deux périodes scolaires pose problème et je me dis que les personnes qui voyagent (les expatriés par exemple) ne choisissent pas leur date de départ et même si cela est le cas, ils seront toujours décalés dans un sens ou un autre. Il doit bien y avoir des solutions!
Suivant où nos enfants pourraient aller (nous ne connaissons rien de l'Australie, Perth, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne... etc?), nous projetons de regarder pour nous. Donc dans un deuxième temps, les parents. Idéalement, nous souhaiterions nous former en anglais et donc trouver une école de langue pour adulte, du style 10/15 ou 20 heures par semaine. Revenir (si on aura envie de revenir) ici avec cet atout. Il semble d'ailleurs que nous pourrions avoir un visa étudiant (vrai?)
Et comme nous devrions avoir un peu de temps (hors cours ou si nous ne trouvons pas de formation pour nous), et qu'il faut vivre, c'est de proposer nos compétences pour de petits jobs.
Je vais déjà contacter le consulat de France comme proposé.
Pour tes enfants, effectivement il faudra jongler entre les differentes annees scolaires le but etant d'arriver en Australie pour la rentree des classes qui a lieu fin janvier / debut fevrier je crois. Je vous conseille d'arriver un peu, debut janvier, pour vous installer et profiter de la belle periode d'ete pour vous acclimater. Avec la plage, les bbq, le camping, les animaux etc...je suis sure que tes enfants seront vite conquis et confiants pour la rentree des classes 🙂 d'ailleurs quel age ont tes enfants?
L'ecole, le lycee Condorcet c'est le lycee francais de Sydney. J'hesite moi meme a y mettre mon fils pour la maternelle ou bien le mettre dans une ecole australienne. A mon avis aucun soucis d'integration dans une ecole australienne. Je suis sure que tes enfants seront tres bien accueillis par les profs et les eleves. Il y a aussi la Grammar School de Sydney qui est une ecole australienne mais donne des cours de francais. Par contre c'est effectivement possible que les ecoles vous demandent un visa de travail pour inscrire vos enfants - pour ca il faudrait telephoner au consulat.
Pour les parents, il existe des tonnes d'ecoles de langue a Sydney. Vous pourrez voir une fois sur place. Pour ce qui est de trouver du travail, comme je le disais les autorites sont DRACONIENNES je vous conseille donc de bien vous renseigner avant. Un visa de touriste ne donne pas le droit de travailler. Les options de visas de travail sont les suivantes:
- un visa 457 - un sponsorship en fait. Le mieux est d'etre sur place ou bien de trouver une entreprise francaise qui accepte de vous envoyer en Australie et de vous sponsoriser pour le visa sous reserve d'acceptation par l'immigration (comme en France l'employeur doit justifier le fait qu'il ne trouve pas qqn localement pour le poste). En tant de crise c'est plus difficile a obtenir bien que les entreprises francaises ont bcp d'expat...
- un skilled visa - un systeme de points. C'est tres long a obtenir 2 ans parfois plus.
La meilleure option est donc le 457. Il suffit que l'und es parents est un 457 et l'autre se rattache au visa et beneficie egalement du droit de travailler en Australie.
Dans tous les cas je vous deconseille fortement les petits jobs non declares sans visa de travail.
Pour le choix de la ville, venant de France je vous conseillerais plutot Sydney ou Perth, au bord de la mer, pour avoir un bon appercu du lifestyle australien. Melbourne c'est la vie citadine "comme en Europe" sauf que ce n'est pas l'Europe (a mon avis en moins bien). Brisbane c'est sympa mais peut etre plus difficile de s'integrer. Sydney et perth sont des villes qui brassent enormement d'etrangers.

Nous habitons la martinique depuis 5ans et envisageons de faire le tour du monde avec nos 4enfants de 6 à 11ans à partir de fin 2010.
Nous constatons que la zone australie nous intéresse le plus...car nous vousdrions visiter les pays suivants : Chine, Japon, Austalie, Nouv Caled, Nouvelle Zélande puis Argentine (pour parler aussi un peu espagnol !) et eventuellement l' Amérique que nous connaissons.

Bonjour Maeva, je vous conseille d'envoyer votre cv (en anglais) au lycee francais directement. Vous pouvez egalement leur telephoner et leur poser la question pour la salaire, ca se fait lorsqu'on souhaite postuler a un poste precis. Je ne connais pas le salaire des enseignants en Australie.
Pour un logement pour une famille de 6 il faut compter environ 700 dollars australiens par semaine pour une petite maison a avec 3 chambres pres du lycee francais voire plus, je vous laisse faire la conversion en euros 🙂 ensuite tout depend de la ou vous souhaitez habiter. A Sydney, les banlieues Est sont assez cheres. Les banlieues Ouest sont bcp moins cheres mais loin de la mer et du centre. Vous pouvez regarder sur www.domain.com.au dans la section "Rent". Le lycee francais se trouve dans la banlieue de Maroubra (NSW). Vous pouvez aussi regarder du cote de Coogee (2034), Randwick (2032), Malabar, et autres banlieues avoisinnantes.
la nourriture coute 2 fois moins chere qu'en France. L'essence aussi. Mais globalement la vie ici coute cher, les vetements, les transports, les sorties etc...c'est comme en France. L'Australie est un pays super pour les enfants, ils vivent au grand air toute l'annee. Parfois je me dis que mon fils de 18 mois aura du mal a se reintegrer a une vie citadine et moi aussi! D'ailleurs qu'en est il de la vie en Martinique? Ca vous plait?
Bref si vous etes motives, envoyez votre cv au lycee ou mieux encore telephonez leur pour parler du poste, ca se fait beaucoup ici, n'ayez pas peur de toutes facons ca ne vous engage a rien 🙂

Après de nombreuses recherches d'informations sur mon projet d'installation à Brisbane, j'ai décidé d'orienter mon installation à Melbourne au vu du coût de la scolarité en Australie.
En choisissant Melbourne, notre fils aura la possibilité d'aller dans une école française, ce qui n'existe pas à Brisbane.
Bien que cette école coûte 3400$, il y a la possibilité d'obtenir une bourse d'étude étant français.

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
