Bonjour, ma compagne Catherine et moi nous souhaitons faire le Pérou à moto pendant un mois en août 2008. 2 options: soit nous envoyons notre moto (BMW 1200 GS Adventure) par bateau avant et retour idem; dans ce cas, quelqu'un connait-il 1 ou des transitaires fiables? Quelques conseils sont les bienvenus.
L'aventage est que nous connaissons bien la moto qui est un vrai chameau et ne rechigne pas à transporter 2 personnes sur tout type de route et à n'importe quelle altitude. Les inconvénients sont nombreux (délai de transport, prix, réception et transit une fois au Pérou...)
L'autre solution serait de louer sur place, mais cela est-il possible? Quel type de moto pour 2 personnes et baggages? coût?

pour ma part, je ne sais pas ce qu'est un CPD. Il faut dire que je n'ai voyagé en moto qu'en Europe et Afrique du Nord.
Je vais m'interesser aux locations sur place et au transport maritime pour évaluer les possibilités et les coûts.

oui, désolé, c'est vrai que cpd est assez peu explicite, il s'agit du carnet de passage en douane, document assez contraignant que l'on fait viser à l'entrée et à la sortie du pays. Pour info, il y a deux ans un transport france-argentine par bateau depuis le havre pouvait couter dans les 1100 euros, il faut y ajouter le retour... ce qui commence à faire un sacré budget pour 1 mois, j'ai aussi lancé une paire de demande par mail auprès de transitaires, mais elles sont restées lettre morte pour l'instant, à suivre...
Sinon, je voyais deux solutions : soit partir 6 mois 😏.... ou alors ne pas ramener la moto sous réserve bien sur de ne pas être verrouillé par le fameux cpd et de ne pas envoyer une moto comme la tienne, car je pense que tu souhaites la récupérer !
la loc sur place, je ne sais pas si on peut trouver des bécanes qui permettraient de voyager à deux chargé et de faire de la piste, mais c'est aussi à considérer...

pour le meme prix tu pourras surement t'acheter une moto au Pérou...au pire tu peux louer des motos la bas, c'est une autre option, j'imagine que tu es attaché à t becanes, je vais demander à mon frangin qui vit la bas comment tu pourrai faire, avez vous deja pensé à l'itinéraire? c en enduro j'espere...car il n'y a (en gros) que la panamericana qui est nickel comme route...
j'ai trouver un loueur de moto au perou environ 85 dollars us jour sans assurances ce csont des 650 aparament du bon materiel il organise des raids motos et propose des loc seul

Catherine et moi sommes intéressés par les infos que pourraient nous donner ton frère sur place.
Nous avons déjà prévu un itinéraire qui part de Lima pour descendre vers le Sud avant de remonter sur la Lac Titicaca, puis remonter vers Cusco pour finir par le Machu Pichu avant de redescendre sur Lima, soit environ 3000 kms de route et pistes praticables.
A ce jour nous avons quasiment abandonné l'option d'envoyer notre moto car le délai et les frais ne nous semblent pas compatibles avec une virée limitée à un mois.
Reste donc l'option d'en louer une sur place, ou de l'acheter pour la revendre avant notre départ. Le problème est de savoir si cela est possible avec un enginb capable de nous transporter tous les deux plus les baggages.
Tous renseignements sont les bienvenus.

au perou chez un organisateur de circuit en moto lui demandant si il louais des motos sans aucune prestation et il ma repondu que cela aparament ne posais pas de probleme particulier il m'anonce la loc hors assu a 85 dollar jour je pense que sur place cela est negosiable en bon commercant qui ce respecte ne commencons pas a payer les prix demander😉

pour moi depart le 27 mars pour mada je recupere ma moto et c'est partie pour de nouvels aventures
Nous avons renoncé à envoyer notre moto pour 1 mois de vacances, car après bien des difficultés, nous avons fini par trouver une société qui acceptait d'expédier la moto, à condition qu'elle soit préemballée et par ailleurs il nous fallait trouver nous mêmes un receptionnaire sur place. Le prix tournait autour de 2000/2500 € pour le voyage, plus la caisse qu'il fallait faire par un menuisier, plus les frais du récépiendaire...sans compter les galères pour organiser le voyage de retour!
Bref, trop compliqué et sans garantie de pouvoir réceptionner notre moto en temps et en heure à un coût garanti d'avance.
Alors pour cette fois, ce sera voyage classique avec location de voiture car nos congés sont arrêtés, et nous débuttons notre organisation pour l'année prochaine vers d'autres horizons, mais en moto cette fois, c'est sûr.

Pour cette année, nous avons laissé tombé la moto. En effet, à part un transitaire dont les tarifs étaient prohibitifs (de 14 000 à 17 000 €, acheminement en 6 à 7 jours, donc par avion), nous avons eu beaucoup de mal à trouver une organisation pour envoyer la moto au Pérou. La plupart des adresses contactées s'occupaient exclusivement de prestations pour les sociétés. Finalement nous avions trouvé un transitaire qui pouvait s'occuper de l'expédition, mais il fallait fabriquer la caisse (il nous fournissait une adresse) pour un embarquement à Srassbourg, et ensuite iul fallait trouver sur place quelqu'un pour réceptionner la moto car le transitaire ne s'occupait pas des formalités de douane et d'entrposage en attendant notre arrivée sur place.
Cela ajouté au fait qu'il fallait envoyer la moto 2 mois avant pour être sûr de l'avoir sur place, et qu'il fallait ensuite s'occuper de toutes les formaluités pour le voyage retour, ajouté au coût, a fait que nous avons estimé que pour un voyage d'un mois, l'enjeu n'en valait pas la chandelle.
Nous nous sommes rabbatus sur la location sur place, mais nous n'avons trouvé que des trails 600 cc qui vont bien pour une personne, mais pas pour 2 avec les baggages, surtout dans un pays de montagne avec des routes plus ou moins bien carrossées.
Finalement pour cette année, nous louerons une voiture sur place, mais nous commencons à nous intéresser à un site qui s'occupe d'organiser des raids à l'étranger avec des propriétaires de BMW GS. Justement cette année, la destination est le Pérou, en octobre et novembre, et l'année prochaine c'est l'Australie.
L'usine BMW suit cette équipoe dont c'est la première organisation, car le concspt lui plait. Tout est priis en charge, y compris l'expédition de la moto.
Affaire à suivre.

avons envoyé 5 motos à USHUAI, début 2007;avons remonté l'Argentine en deux voyages de 20 jours;je repars le 5 novembre pour faire JuJUY, Bolivie, Pérou;on laisse les motos à Lima pour la prochaine fois faire Panama et remonter vers l'Alaska;pourrai te donner info sur douanes, cpd(arnaque)... mais au retour;un peu just maintenant.
Si tu aimes moto, fais la 40 avant qu'elle soit bitumée;pas de tout repos mais magique

Alors pour répondre a ta question sur la meilleur époque pour faire de la moto au Pérou ca dépend ou tu veux aller. Comme tu sais, le Pérou se situe dans l’hémisphère sud donc l’été ici commence en décembre alors du soleil sur toute la cote pacifique mais dans les andes et la foret amazonien (la selva) l’inverse parce il peut pleuvoir ce qui n’empêche pas aussi d’avoir du beau temps. Dans la selva et les andes ici au Pérou ils considèrent le temps des pluies comme si c’était l’hiver mais en fait c’est bien l’été.
Alors de la moto tu peux en faire toute l’année au Pérou en sachant que décembre, janvier, février et mars risque de pluie plus importante que le reste de l’année.

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.

Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
