Hello and Happy New Year to everyone!!

We have a little week of vacation from February 1st to 8th and we’d like to return to Morocco. In March 2024, we spent 4 days in Marrakech, 2 nights in the Atlas Mountains, and 1 night in Essaouira. This time, we’re hesitating between spending 3 days in Rabat and 3 days in Fez and the surrounding area (Meknes), or landing in Marrakech again but taking the road to Mergouza via Ouarzazate, the Dadès Gorges, etc. What do you recommend for this time of year? We enjoy both monuments (for the first option) and nature (for the second).

Best regards, Christophe

Hi there,

If the climate is important to you, you'll find it warmer in the south, especially in Merzouga. But the choice is still tough—these are two great travel options that are very different: culture or nature! Just so you know, there’s a flight from Marrakech to Ouarzazate that could save you time if you go for the desert option.

Hi there, and thanks for your reply!! Given the cold in France, we’re not too picky about the weather ... Gotta make a decision soon!!!

Just a heads-up, at this time of year, places like Ouarzazate, Dadès, Merzouga, etc. are at the edge of the desert or nearly so, but they're also around 1,000 meters in altitude. From about 10 AM, the sun really warms things up, but the nights can be pretty "chilly." Don't forget to pack a light sweater!!

Hi and thanks for your reply, but Morocco will have to wait until October! For now, it’s Madeira instead 😉

1 post just to advertise a hotel! It’s not even subtle...

Rabat and Fez are two very interesting cities, each in its own way, with lots to discover.

It could be these two cities or Merzouga. Only you can decide.

Maybe after a city like Marrakech, the mountains and the desert would be a good idea.

Hello Catherine, Isn’t it a bit much? 🤐 Maybe it’s because I didn’t want to advertise. 📢 I’m just talking about what I know and what I’ve experienced. 🌍✈️ I’m not a travel agency promoting hotels I don’t know and have never stayed in. 🏨❌ But why always see the negative and look for the bad everywhere, the French way? 😤😄 Anyway, for my part, I don’t care—I’ve got nothing to gain. 🤷‍♂️ Especially since I live in Indonesia 🌴, so promoting a hotel in Morocco... LOL! 😂 It’s just a shame, because honestly, it was good info, and everyone’s free to do things differently. 😊 Best regards,
