je souhaiterai entreprendre un petit voyage à moto en italie, de quelques jours seulement, et ce avec un tout petit budget. Je pars d'Evian les bains, et j'aimerai me rendre à Venise, puis Florence, Sienne, éventuellement pise sur le chemin du retour.
Le but étant surtout d'avoir un aperçu de ce pays et me balader dans les couleurs de la toscane :)
J'avais en effet prévu de visiter plus en profondeur le pays, mais je part à l'étranger pour le travail très prochainement, alors.. si je veux voir l'italie, c'est maintenant ou "jamais" ! et je n'ai du coup plus autant de temps que prévu :)
Mes questions portent principalement sur la sécurité et sur le logement :
- qu'en est-il des vols concernant les deux roues ? Ma moto est une vielle 125 pas forcement attirante. Y a t-il des précautions particulières à prendre ? Je voyage leger, je n'aurai dans mon top case que des outils pour la moto, mon sac de couchage et de quoi manger, le reste de mes affaires (appareil photo, objet de valeur, identité, etc..) sera toujours dans mon sac à dos.
- concernant le logement, comme j'aimerai loger à moindre frais, j'envisage les auberges de jeunesses, avez-vous une idée de budget ? Pour les adresses, une solution serait d'acheter un guide du routard.. sauf s'il éxiste des sites bien fait pour cela (sachant que je ne parle pas un mot d'italien) ? A propos de la langue justement.. l'anglais est-il compris en Italie ? Notamment dans les auberges de jeunesse (pour le reste j'arriverai à me débrouiller) ?
- à Venise, il me semble avoir lu qu'il y a un parking à proximité où l'on peut laisser un véhicule puis rejoindre la ville en bateau, est-ce exact ? Quid des vols sur le parking ? Je compte passer un demi voire une journée à Venise si possible. Je suppose qu'il vaut mieux arriver tôt, pour également repartir pas trop tard et chercher un logement en dehors de la ville (moins cher je suppose). Qu'en pensez-vous ?
Je pars à Venise ce week end et je ne connais pas du tout la ville, donc mon message ne te sera pas d'une grande utilité, mais je voulais juste préciser que le guide du routard sur Venise est très bien fait (comme tous les autres guides je suppose), alors si tu as l'occasion d'y jeter un coup d'oeil n'hésite pas!
Pour la sécurité de ta moto, je ne peux pas te dire, mais en ce qui concerne les auberges de jeunesse, il y en a beaucoup dans toute l'Italie, tu peux voir ce site : hostels.com, qui comporte le plus d'auberges avec des avis.
Dans un ordre de prix, à Venise même l'auberge la moins chère c'est 22 € environ, mais à l'extérieur (genre il y a des auberges sous forme de camping avec tente déjà installée, à 20 min de là) on peut s'en sortir pour 8-10 € de moins (mon expérience en sept 2009 : 12 €)
A Florence, tu peux trouver des auberges des 14€ environ selon la saison, à Sienne je ne sais pas, mais je ne te conseille pas d'y rester fort longtemps car c'est quand même petit.
Pareil pour Pise, je te conseillerais plutot d'aller dans une autre ville a la place, car malgré la célébrité de sa tour, la ville en elle-même n'est pas si géniale que ça. Donc plutôt Lucca, San Gimignano;..
Pour ce qui est de la compréhension de l'anglais, dans les hostels et tout ce qu'il y a de sérieux, pas de problèmes. Après si tu t'aventures dans une petite boutique à Lucca ou Sienne, tenue par une personne d'environ 50 ans, pas sûre qu'elle parle anglais (nous on allait souvent chez des petits commerçants et on devait parler italien). Mais je pense que c'est sensiblement comme en France : un petit commerçant de village aura plus de chances de ne pas parler anglais qu'un jeune.

En effet, on arrive à Venise par le pont qui vient de Mestre et puis on se gare à la Piazalle Roma. De là, on peut partir en vaporetto. Attention, Venise est cher. Le parking est payant. Voir le très bon site : http://www.e-venise.com/transports-voiture-venise.htm
Un trajet en vaporetto coûte 6,5€. Donc il reste, soit de faire tout à pied, soit acheter un pass d'une journée 12H00 (ou plus ) qui coûte 16€ (soit 2,5 trajets) si on l'achète via internet :http://www.veniceconnected.com/ecommerce/carrello.php?idcategoria=1. Comme tu penses ne pas trop rester à Venise, la vaporetto sera quand même bien apprécié pour ne pas trop perdre de temps, bien que Venise s'apprécie surtout à pied !
Le logement sera certainement moins cher à Mestre. Et oui, il est préférable d'arriver tôt, avant les hordes de touristes.
Une autre possibilité est de loger à Mestre et d'y laisser ta moto en sécurité et prendre le train jusqu'à Venise. Ce sera même peut-être moins coûteux que le parking et plus sécurisé...

Que me conseilleriez-vous entre Evians et Venise ? Il y a 600km et je pense qu'il serait plus agréable de faire le trajet en deux jours, idéalement un bel endroit à proximité (moins de 200km) de Venise ou passer un peu de temps avant de prendre la route le matin tôt pour venise :)
Il y a bien Milan, mais c'est à environ 300 km de Venise, donc ça ne correspond peut-être pas à ce que tu recherches ?
Ou bien, en plus proche, justement à env. 200 km, il y a le Lac de Garde et Vérone juste à côté ! Je ne suis pas allée précisément dans ce coin, mais j'en ai entendu du bien.
je ne peux pas t'en dire plus concernant les parkings à Venise car je n'y suis jamais allée en voiture. Mais, tu peux envoyer un mail à Luca et Daniela (e.venise.com). Ils te répondront gentiment.
Concernant la sécurité en Italie, je n'ai jamais eu de problème mais j'ai un copain qui m'a dit avoir lu qu'à Florence une voiture qui n'a pas le vide-poche ouvert et vide tient en moyenne 7 mn avant d'être fracturée. Cela me paraît exagéré donc j'espère que d'autres vforumeurs pourront réagir et apporter leur expérience.

petite question concernant les guides (papier) d'italie du nord : j'aime bien le routard d'habitude car il indique souvent de bons plans pour ce qui est auberge de jeunesse/camping. Seulement pour l'italie du nord, il a l'air d'être séparé en plein de tome différente : italie du nord (sans toscane, venise et lacs), les lacs, venise, florence et toscane..
Connaissez-vous un guide qui regroupe tout ça (et qui indique bien les auberges de jeunesse) ? Ca m'embete d'acheter 2 ou 3 guide pour un voyage de .. 6 jours !

vous devriez pouvoir vous garer facilement à Mira, je pense. Il y a une gare de train qui va sur venise.
Pour info, depuis padou, j'avais payé 3€ de train (20 min) ! Si jamais vous ne trouviez pas de place à mira, pensez à vous garer quelque part sur la lisaison entre padoue et venise !

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?
- Is the road through the narrow valley of the White Lütschine toward Lauterbrunnen and beyond still worth it in terms of views and scenery?
On the way back, if we have a little time to explore Bern’s historic old town, what’s the best parking plan for a 1- or 2-hour stop?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...
