Nous voila de retour de 3 semaines en Norvège dont 4 jours dans les sublimes Lofoten.
Le compte-rendu détaillé (peut-être trop 😏) avec photos et commentaires sur les hébergement est ici. Quand j'aurais le temps, j'essayerai d'en faire un autre sur le forum mais là, je vais m'occuper de mon album photo 😄
Merci à Criscus dont le CR m’a beaucoup inspirée pour la partie du voyage dans les Lofoten, à Cricri qui m’a fait rêver en lisant son magnifique compte-rendu et à qui j’ai souvent pensé pendant notre voyage. Merci aussi à Julien pour son site de randonnées.
Quelques réponses aux questions que je m’étais posée avant de partir :
- Les paysages sont-ils vraiment exceptionnels : oh, oui !
Tout est beau mais les Lofoten sont absolument exceptionnelles.
- La Norvège est-elle une destination hors de prix ? : plutôt oui.
Le billet d’avion est raisonnable et pour l’hébergement si on choisit des Hytter, c’est le prix d’un hôtel ailleurs et on est bien logé. Pour se nourrir, là, c’est autre chose. Si on fait ses courses pour pique-niquer ça va encore mais par contre, les restaurants sont très chers.
- Le temps est-il vraiment pourri ? : ah ! ce n’est pas la Côte d’Azur !
On a eu une chance folle aux Lofoten. Ailleurs, nous n’avons eu que trois journées entières avec un beau soleil et deux journées très pluvieuses. Sinon, c’était presque toujours un temps couvert ou pluvieux avec de belles éclaircies en fin de journée. Pour la température, la moyenne était souvent de 14°C, rien en tout cas qui rappelle que l’on est en été.
Il faut partir avec une veste de pluie, des vêtements chauds, des chaussures qui supportent bien l’eau, un parapluie mais aussi ses lunettes de soleil. Bref, Il vaut mieux avoir oublié de prendre son short que sa polaire 😄. Mais il parait que cette année, le mois de juillet a été particulièrement mauvais …
En tout cas, vu comme il faisait chaud en France avant notre départ, aussi étrange que cela puisse paraitre, les températures entre 6 et 21°C m’ont bien convenu.
- Est-ce un pays agréable ? : oui !
On s’y sent bien. Aucun sentiment d’insécurité et on a laissé nos valises dans la voiture partout sans s’inquiéter. Il y a peu de monde et même les coins touristiques sont respirables (exception faite du Preikestolen). Quant à la population, j’ai trouvé les gens plutôt aimables dans l’hôtellerie ou la restauration mais la plupart du temps ce sont des employés non norvégiens. Par contre, le fait que pratiquement personne ne réponde à nos « Hei » quand dans une randonnée on croise quelqu’un, nous a surpris. C’est le genre de pays où visiblement on ne parle que si l’on a quelque chose à dire … pas des Latins, quoi !
En tout cas, on a beaucoup aimé ce pays !

L'an passé, ils avaient eu un été exceptionnel et il semble que cette année ce soit l'inverse 🤪 Comme je vis dans une région où il y a beaucoup de soleil cela ne m'a pas gêné mais je comprends que l'on réfléchisse à deux fois avant d'aller passer son été en Norvège. Et puis effectivement c'est cher ! Mais c'est vrai que les paysages sont extraordinaires !
L'été prochain, nous aimerions bien repartir au Canada mais cette fois pour aller dans l'Ouest.

Je n'ai pas encore tout lu, tout juste les premières pages sur les Lofoten, mais mon petit doigt me dit que tu as sans doute pensé à moi en voyant les orques entre Nesland et Nusfjord 😉 Incroyable, elles étaient là ? 😮
Sinon, les miroirs, la sculpture, la vue de Reine, la plage de Ramberg : quel plaisir de revoir tous ces endroits.
Et quelle magnifique météo aussi ! Vous avez assurément bien profité de vos quatre journées.
Finalement vous n'avez pas tenté la randonnée de Reinebringen ?
Encore une question : tu avais une raison particulière de mettre les Lofoten en début de voyage ? J'aurais eu tendance à faire le contraire. Cela dit, vu la belle météo que tu as eue, tu as sans doute bien fait !🙂

C'est en lisant ton compte-rendu que je me suis dit que Reinebringen n'était pas faite pour nous. Moi, dès que ça glisse pour descendre je suis absolument lamentable et imaginer mes filles ( qui elles heureusement tiennent de leur père et non de moi 😏 ) en danger, ça me donne des frissons rien que d'y penser 🤪. En lisant le commentaire de Rando-Lofoten, je n'ai pas regretté mon choix.
Je crois que j'ai placé les Lofoten au début car c'était ce qui me tenait le plus à cœur du voyage et on a eu drôlement de la chance en tout cas avec le temps. Peut-être le fait que tu aies croisé les doigts pour moi, a aidé 😏
Juste deux remarques : je suis également en Norvège ces deux dernières années en juillet et, effectivement, autant l'été dernier était exceptionnellement beau et chaud, autant celui-ci est froid et pluvieux. Sinon, pour le bonjour en rando, j'ai pu constater que les gens ne répondaient pas forcément lorsque j'étais sur un parcours très fréquenté mais répondaient dans les endroits isolés. Ça dépend aussi de l'habitude de la rando chez certains mais c'est exactement pareil en France.

Ajout : Pour les bagages, même problème que vous, j'allais à Oslo et n'ai pas reçu mon bagage avant le lendemain. On m'a fait rentrer dans la zone des bagages le soir pour vérifier et il y avait plein de bagages amoncelés et perdus partout. Je ne sais pas quelle compagnie vous avez prise mais, pour moi, c'était Hop et ils ont laissé mon bagage à Paris suite à un retard de mes deux avions. Je ne suis d'ailleurs pas satisfaite de cette compagnie car sur mes deux voyages en Norvège, ils étaient toujours en retard et j'ai eu des problèmes pour cette raison à chaque fois. J'espérais que Norwegian serait meilleure, mais on dirait que non.
J'ai pris beaucoup de plaisir à lire ce récit de voyage, retrouvant certaines similitudes avec nos parcours. Le hasard nous ayant fait logé dans la même rorbu à Hamnoy à 12 d'écart 🙂

Je viens de commencer avec les Lotofen, c'est vraiment magnifique, il y a une lumière exceptionnelle, les photos sont splendides.
Je vois que votre séjour a très bien démarré (à part les bagages, finalement assez vite résolu) et la cheville de ton mari (j'espère que ça ne vous a pas trop handicapé pour la suite).

oui, en hiver, beaucoup de lieux touristiques sont fermés ou très peu ouverts. A terre ou sur l'Hurtigruten avec un peu de chance, on a droit aux aurores boréales :)

Ravie que vous ayez apprécié votre voyage en Norvège, c'est vraiment un très beau pays. Nous y sommes allés 3 fois dont une en croisière hivernale, c'était super aussi!

Nous adorons les Lofoten, nous y étions restés plusieurs jours et avions eu aussi un très beau temps.
Pas de chance pour les valises, heureusement que vous avez pu les récupérer le lendemain mais c'est toujours désagréable de ne pas toutes les avoir à l'arrivée.
Avais-tu fait la croisière hivernale avec l'Hurtigruten ?
J'espère avoir l'occasion de retourner moi aussi en Norvège, surtout aux Lofoten. En plus des paysages magnifiques, j'ai ressenti une grande sérénité dans ce pays. C'est certainement lié à la faible densité de population. Autant dire qu'à peine revenue sur la Côte d'Azur, j'ai vu la différence 😄
Pour les valises, nous avons eu effectivement beaucoup de chance. Même si on a l'indispensable dans ses bagages à main, ça peut drôlement gâcher le début des vacances. Nous n'avions jamais eu de valises égarées jusque là, on se disait bien que ça allait forcément arriver 🤪
Ça y est, j'ai tout lu (plusieurs fois déjà), avec beaucoup d'intérêt et beaucoup de plaisir à revoir tous ces paysages norvégiens.
Dommage pour Preikestolen 😕: en juin, l'an dernier il y avait déjà beaucoup de monde, alors plus tard en saison, j'imagine... c'est la rançon du succès d'une randonnée parmi les plus populaires du pays.
En revanche, tu t'es rattrapée avec le point de vue de Molden, une belle découverte (avec sans doute moins de monde)
Côté boeufs musqués, je trouve que tu as eu de la chance d'en voir quand même quelques-uns d'assez près (pour nous, le seul aperçu n'était pas plus grand qu'une tête d'épingle 😎)
En bref, tu as fait un très beau voyage et ton récit sera certainement très utile aux futurs partants.

Ah ! Oui, je recommande cette rando qui, si on se contente du premier point de vue, est très facile. En plus, il y a effectivement peu de monde et il me semble que ce sont surtout des norvégiens. Rien à voir avec l'usine qu'est devenu le Preikestolen !

j'ai éclaté de rire en lisant ça 😄 Mais au moins, tu l'as vu sans faire appel à un guide ! Heureusement qu'après nous avoir fait marcher plus de 4 heures sous la pluie et dans des sols marécageux, il nous en a trouvé un 😏
Ces animaux sont moins impressionnants que ce que j'imaginais et beaucoup plus petits que les bisons en tout cas. Notre guide nous avait dit qu'ils mesurent 1,4 m au garrot. Par contre, il ne faut pas leur chercher des poux car ils sont du genre tenace et ne se contentent pas d'une charge ou deux (dixit le guide) et ils doivent être un peu myopes aussi pour ne pas faire la différence entre un rival ou un train (cette dernière info n'étant par contre que pure spéculation de ma part, je le précise 😏 ).

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?
- Is the road through the narrow valley of the White Lütschine toward Lauterbrunnen and beyond still worth it in terms of views and scenery?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
