Je pars avec ma compagne du 9 au 28 juillet pour un petit tour de la Floride.
Ceci est mon premier post sur ce forum et surtout mon premier "grand voyage"!
J'ai étudié des centaines d'itinéraires pour pouvoir mettre sur place quelque chose de raisonnable.
Pour commencé j'avais loué un cabriolet mais j'ai vite changé, car le toit ouvrant c'est cool pendant 2 jours mais après le soleil risque de nous taper un peu sur la tete et surtout la capacité du coffre va mettre mes nerfs à rudes épreuve! J'ai donc échangé contre un SUV Jeep Grand Cherokee ou similaire pour le meme prix! (résérvations rentalcars)
Nous sommes un couples qui adorons les plages désertes et la vie sous-marines, mais on aime aussi les "attrapes-touristes" (mais pas trop!)
Pour les hotels j'ai reservé dans les grandes villes uniquement pour pouvoir profiter entre 2 destinations, si on aime on reste, sinon on continue! 😎
Alors voici mon petit programme:
J1 arrivée fin d'aprem à Miami, recup auto et prise de la chambre à l'hotel dans le quartier de north beach. Ballades en voiture si pas trop fatigués. (Beach Place Hotel)
J2 Plage en matinée et après-midi outlets Saw Grass ou autre! (on pense partir les valises "vides" :-) et soirée au resto Burger Beer Joint (tout se que j'aime!)
J3 Promenade pedestre (bus n°120) dans le quariter de SoBe: Art Deco et baignade eventuellement si trop de monde prendre la voiture jusqu'a Key Biscayne. Soirée Resto Texas da Brazil (viande à GOGO!)
J4 Matinée: Venitian Pool. Aprem: Visites du downtown MetroMover, American Airlines Arena, et finir sur Bayside Market Place pour l'apero. soirée selon envies
J5 journée plage et fin d'aprem petite visite de Litlle Havana, Design District. Soirée dans les bars de South Beach.
J6 6H départ Key Largo pour snorkeling tour au john Pennekemp (rdv à 8H). ensuite si on a le temps petite session plage à Bahia Honda (Sandspur Beach) et finir sur Key West. ( Hotel Duval Gardens)
J7 Journée Key West et soirée à Mallory Square
J8 Départ pour Naples avec arret sur la Tamiami Road (Anihnga Road, Loop Road ou similaire) Nuit à Naples.
J9 Journée plages à Naples. Nuit à Naples.
J10 Départ Sanibel Island (coquillages en matinée) et direction Siesta Key (anna Maria Beach) en début d'aprem. Nuit dans les environs.
J11 Départ pour Fort de Soto Beach ou rester sur place pour relaxer (selon l'humeur). journée plage. Nuit à St-Petersburg ou environ.
J12 Clearwater Beach eventuellement St-Pete Beach. Soirée match des Tampa Bay Storm de Foot US.
J13 Départ pour Orlando. Reparages des parcs et achat des billets pour les trois prochains jours. Fin de journée au Premium Outlet International Drive. (hotel Super 8 International Drive pour 4 nuits.)
J14 Disney Animal Kingdom et Epcot ou Studio Universal Disney
J15 Island Of Adventure/Universal Studio
J16 Island Of Adventure/Universal Studio
J17 Départ Daytona Beach pour "rouler sur la plage"! aprem direction Cocoa Beach nuit sur place
J18 Départ Fort Lauderdale pour le grand marché et le Drive In au Swap Shop. Nuit sur place
J19 Retour sur Miami pour les dernières envie. Nuit proche de l'aeroport.

l'annee derniere à Paques , nous avons fait un peu le meme periple mais dans l'autre sens.
Tu peux presque te passer de la voiture pendant ton sejour à Miami.( parkings chers, et difficultes pour se garer). Le bus est pratique.
Ta journee 4: l'american airline arena risque d'etre fermee car la saison de NBA est terminee. Le tour en metro gratuit est sympa . Le Bayside Market est sympa en soiree; animations musicales, shooping, restaurants et le Hard Rock cafe.
Ta journee 8: Il me semble que vous allez faire beaucoup de kilometres entre Key west et Naple. Il veut mieux prevoir une excursion en fin de parcours en fonction de votre temps de route ( faire un tour en air boat à everglade city par exemple).
Il y a de tres belles plages à Miami, à Cocao Beach, et sur toute la cote du golf du Mexique.

Il n'y a jamais de problemes , il n'y a que des solutions et quand il n'y a pas de solutions c'est qu'il n'y pas de problemes !
En effet je redoute aussi un peu cette journée 8... Surtout que je suis seul à conduire!
On ne souhaite pas particulièrement faire une activité dans les Everglades, voir 2-3 crocos quelques vautours et beaux oiseaux nous suiffit amplement! Donc je pense faire le trajet Key West - Naples et si le temps est avec nous, on s'arretera! Et si vraiment on a rien vu sur la route (sa m'etonnerai fortement! 😛). Il y a la journée 19 qui peut nous servir de "tampon" pour caler une visite vite fait bien fait! 😉
Je me posais quelques petites questions:
As-tu reservé les hotels en avance ou tu cherchais au jour le jour?
Car je me pose la question des valises dans le coffre pendant que je suis sur la plages ou ailleurs... S'a m'inspire pas trop confiance...
Et as-tu prit le sunpass pour les peages ou on arrive a se débrouiller sans? (Ceci est un fameux sujet qui revient souvent sur le forum, mais vu que tu y es allé recemment je profite un peu de ton experience! 😏😏)
Je pars à peu près aux mêmes dates. Si je peux me permettre, je trouve dommage de e rester 1 seule journée à DisenyWorld et donc de devoir choisir 1 seul des parcs. Etant donné votre programme, à votre place, je remplacerais carrément Disney pour Seaworld ou un parc aquatique (aquatica, wet'n wild...) ou si vous avez les moyens Discovery Cove.
En Mai 2012, j'ai fait l'étape Key west - Naples très facilement dans la journée. En partant vers 9h30 et sans rouler vite , j'ai rejoint Naples vers 17 h en visitant les Everglages, les élevages de crocodiles, fait de l'airboat et déjeuné au Micossukee Indian Village. A Naples, hôtel très chouette : Le Trianon.
Au debut je pensais comme toi, mais apres reflexion, je me suis rendu compte que les spectactles de dauphins et d'orques on a deja vu et revu... et pour discovery cove, on a deja eut la chance de visiter un parc similaire au Mexique et d'y nager avec dauphins et lamentins.
On a donc prevu Animal Kingdom en matinee pour son originalité (safari et kilimanjaro) et faire un deuxième parc Disney l'apres midi genre Epcot ou Disney Studio, en achetant un billet Park hoper. D'apres ce que j'ai compris Magic Kingdom et Studio Disney sont une copie ancienne de celui de Paris, (je me trompe peut-être!!)
Penses-tu que c'est faisable 2 parcs Disney en 1 jour? Bien sur on ne ferai pas toutes les attractions principales...
Et pour le Wet'n'wild, j'aurai bien aimé mais madame n'est pas trop fan... elle préfère profiter d'une plage, (chose qu'on a pas en Suisse... LOL)

Pour Disney, tu peux évidemment faire 2 parcs en 1 jour si ton billets le permet mais ça n'en vaut franchement pas la peine. Personnellement j'adore les animaux mais maintenant que j'ai eu la chance d'avoir fait un safari au Kenya je suis "blasée" et les plus beaux zoo / parcs du monde me semble "fades" donc, à ta place, je passerai la journée à Epcot. Avec le showcase, tu as largement de quoi t'occuper 1 journée surtout que Juillet est une période de forte affluence.
Je pense que nous n'avons pas les mêmes envies / centres d'intêrets (la plage c'est pas notre truc :)), mais voici mon programme (intense et milimétré) :

Je pense que tu as raison, et j'ai peur d'etre un peu deçu de Animal Kingdom. Je vais surement me rabattre entièrement sur Epcot et son showcase.
Et surtout je crois que c'est la-bas aussi qu'il y a un superbe feux d'artifices à la fermeture!
Tu as un bien joli programme! Mais je confirme que les centres d'interets ne sont pas les meme! 😛

Oui. Tous mes hôtels sont réservés. Ma façon de voyager / mes préférences font qu'il est hors de question pour moi de perdre du temps sur place pour des questions de logistique. Et je n'aime pas l'imprévu. Mes plans de secours ont des plans de secours si tu vois ce que je veux dire. Pour Orlando j'ai effectivement choisi 10 nuits dans un hôtel Disney. Probablement pas le choix le plus économique mais ce n'est pratiquement jamais le prix qui guide mes choix d'hébergement. On change tous les jours d'hôtels avant Orlando donc je voulais me poser un peu et éviter d'avoir a refaire des Check-in/out alors qu'on serait dans la même ville et qu'on garde notre voiture de loc. Et j'avais envie de m'immerger dans le monde Disney tout en ayant peur de la saturation en faisant 6 jours pleins de parcs Disney d'affilée. En restant dans le même hôtel j'alterne les univers en fonction des jours...
salut pour moi je part le 8/07/2013 sur la région d’Orlando t'on planning est bien, moi je ne prévoit rien à l'avance de peur de me stresser du planning, donc je me donne les grandes lignes, et voilà je suis parti 5 fois en Floride et j'adore, pour ce qui est des parcs, il faut prévoir 1 jours complet pour chaque parc disney/universal/sea world deux parc dans la journée très fatiguent surtout qu'en cette saisons il fait très chaud et il y a souvent de gros orages très violent court mais violent. moi j'ai fait tous les parc Disney (4) Universal studio (2) sea World en environ 10 jrs pour à peut près tous voir.
ci tu a le temps visite churl street station ( je croix que cela a changer depuis 1981 regarde sur internet) dans le centre d’Orlando, tu a aussi winter park qui est sympa.
pour les prix c'est envions 95 dollars taxes comprise par parc, voie à prendre des forfaits, 57 dollars pour les parcs aquatiques, renseigne toi dans les offices touristiques souvent des reducs sur les parcs tu en a un sur international drive près de mercado (il me semble que c'est fermé). Floride mail est sympas aussi sur sand lak road.
je te souhaite un très bon voyage et tu vas voir la Floride est merveilleuse, et tu aura pleins de souvenirs à vie, attention à la police, très sympas mais très s'évere , mais il t'aideront ci tu a un souci

After that, we’re heading to Sherbrooke to visit our daughter, who’s studying at the university there. We’ll spend 3 days with her, and then, since she has a break that week, we’re taking her along for 3 days in Quebec City.
We’ve planned to visit Montmorency Falls and Île d'Orléans.
I’d love to hear what route you’d recommend for the drive from Sherbrooke to Quebec City—we’ll have the whole day to take it easy.

Classic itinerary: arrival in Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Clearwater, Whistler, Vancouver Island, departure from Vancouver.
I know you can’t see into the future any better than I can, so I’m obviously not asking what the wildfire situation will be like in a month...
But if any of you could let me know if, CURRENTLY, there are major difficulties—not just for locals, of course, but for tourists as well?
We’re hesitating between taking the chance or canceling what we still can.
We’re not young anymore and don’t have the flexibility we once did...

A friend is renting a car for an upcoming trip during the All Saints' holiday.
Nowadays, all rental cars come with GPS, but do you know if you can use it without paying for the GPS rental? I have no idea since I always use my own!
After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?
We went as a family to Mount Rushmore in 2023, where my son bought a multi-function pocket knife like the one below with his name engraved—'NOAH'.
Unfortunately, he just lost it, and he was really attached to it. So, if there’s a kind soul passing by Mount Rushmore who could bring one back for me (I’d obviously cover all costs), that would be amazing for my son.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

My 16-year-old son is flying to Grand Rapids with other kids his age. There’s a layover in Detroit. There’s no unaccompanied minor service available. Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

**Parking:**
We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. For those who’ve done both Lower and Upper, can you tell me if the price difference is really justified? Thanks

Everything’s booked for September—flights, accommodations, and the car. As I plan, I’ll be asking the experts for help. This is our second trip to California, but most of the stops are new to us.
We’ll start directly from San Francisco to our first overnight stop, Davis, before heading to Lassen Volcanic Park for 4 nights. Our flight lands at 12:50 PM.

For hikes in Lassen Volcanic Park, I’ve planned:
Bumpass Hell, Cold Boiling Lake (Day 2)
Paradise Meadow (maybe not going all the way), Devastated Area, and the loop around Reflection and Manzanita Lakes (Day 3)
Cinder Cone and Painted Dunes (Day 4)
Devil’s Kitchen and Boiling Spring Lake (Day 5)
I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I’m planning a week-long family trip to NYC in October 2026. The focus is on museums and soaking up the New York vibe. I’ve been checking Airbnb, but the prices in Manhattan are through the roof. Since I don’t know NYC well, is it "wise" to look outside Manhattan? Any neighborhoods you’d recommend?

Also, we’re all set—passports are good. Do you think one classic Visa card and one premium Visa card will be enough for coverage?

Just a little post that might interest some of you:

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!
