J'aimerais être en contact avec des personnes connaissant cette ville, j'ai pas mal de questions à vous poser... sur beaucoup de thèmes...où trouver un logement? quel quartier choisir?quel est le coût de la vie pour une personne seule et pas vraiment dépensière?St Louis est elle une ville sympa? ce n'est pas trop difficile de rencontrer des gens?à quel climat s'attendre de janvier à aout?quelles précautions prendre niveau santé/vaccins/mode de vie/ douane police etc?question primordiale: y a t-il des vagues???? je suis surfeuse, dois je emmener mes planches ou est - ce facile de trouver là bas??pouvez vous me donner des adresses de sites/assos vers qui me tourner pour mieux gérer mon arrivée?

Janvier, c'est encore loin. Je te rassure quand même la période idéale c'est de Novembre à fin Mai, donc tu vas beaucoup en profiter, surtout si tu aimes les oiseaux. Saint Louis est une belle ville, calme surtout quand si tu habites à l'ile. Il y a une foromeuse : milbaraka, en vacances actuellement, qui vit là bas, et je suis sûr qu'à son retour à Saint Louis, elle t'aidera.

J'ai passé moi aussi 6 mois en stage à St Louis il y a trois ans, et j'en ai un excellent souvenir !!!!
Je vais essayer de répondre à quelques unes de tes questions... mais n'hésite pas à en poser d'autres !!
* Tout d'abord le logement : depuis la France, c'est un peu compliqué de chercher... mais une fois à St Louis, tes collègues te donneront des plans sans problème. Moi j'étais hébergée chez un Sénégalais qui louait des chambres, et je mangeais dans sa famille... plusieurs familles font ça sur l'île, car il ya pas mal de passage (stagiaires, touristes...). Sinon, en cas de difficulté, le temps de trouver mieux, l'auberge de jeunesse dans le nord de l'île est pas mal, et c'est un des hébergements les moins chers...
* Le coût de la vie : en moyenne, par mois, avec 1000 / 1500 francs français, je m'en sortais largement (loyer de 300 FF, nourriture, sorties, visites, souvenirs, voyages sur dakar et alentours...). Mais tout dépendra de ton hébergement...
* Le climat : je pense que tu pars dans la meilleure période !!! Pas trop froid, pas trop chaud, et pas trop de pluie en principe... !!!
* Par contre : pour la baignade : l'eau est vraiment froide jusqu'en mai je pense... difficile de se baigner ! Et oui... il y a des vagues à St Louis !!! C'est pas vraiment le meilleur lieu pour surfer au Sénégal, c'est pas vraiment des "belles vagues", les plus belles vagues sont plutot vers N'Gor, Yoff près de Dakar... Y a pas mal de surfers d'un peu partout qui vont là-bas.. Par contre, je n'ai aucune idée d'où on peut trouver des planches... et je ne sais pas si c'est facile d'emmener la tienne...
* Sinon, la ville de St Louis est sympa, très touristique. Les St Louisiens sont très ouverts, et l'île étant très petite, les infos vont vite !!! Ils sauront très vite qu'une nouvelle stagiaire est arrivée !!! Il y a pas mal de lieux pour sortir, pour rencontrer des gens... Le centre culturel français est aussi un lieu pas mal, où aussi bien Sénégalais que Français vont régulièrement...
* Dernier point, la santé : je pense que tu as déjà prévu tes vaccins (fièvre jaune notamment - il y a eu un grave épidémie il y a quelques années - hépatite A et B, Tiphoïde). Je te conseille vivement les anti-palu.. certes ils ont des effets secondaires, mais je me suis fait régulièrement "bouffée" pendant mon séjour (surtout à Dakar en fait), donc "mieux vaut prévenir que guérir". N'oublie pas la trousse de secours "anti-turista"... et comme l'indiquent tous les guides, méfiance, surtout au début (eau du robinet, glaçons, fruits et légumes à éviter...).

Toi tu me conseille de cherche un logement sur l'Ile ? c'est mieux que sur les quartiers "continentaux"? Est ce qu'il y a des bus, des taxis pas chers ou il vaut mieux trouver une vieille mobylette sur place?

Pour les déplacements à St Louis, pas de problème... il y a beaucoup de taxis et on peut se déplacer pas mal à pied de toute façon...
Et pour le logement, l'île a des avantages... et des inconvénients !!! C'est pas loin des activités touristiques et commerçantes... et donc, il y a beaucoup de touristes et de vendeurs parfois "insistants"... C'est là aussi où il y a pas mal de restau, de bars... C'est pas très loin de la plage non plus...
Je connais pas aussi bien Sor et les quartiers alentours, mais je pense que ce sont des quartiers plus "sénégalais", moins occidentalisés quoi... Donc ça peut être pas mal non plus... Pas mal de volontaires étrangers qui travaillaient à St Louis quand j'y étais habitaient dans les quartiers "continentaux" et ils y étaient bien... dans des maisons plutot sympa !!!

pour ma part j'ai cherché une ONG travaillant sur les thèmes qui m'intéressent, mais en fait je suis tombée sur une asso par coup de chance (le pote d'un pote qui bosse là bas)
l'asso en question s'appelle "le partenariat", coopération entre la ville de Lille et st Louis du Sénégal ils ont un site internet), mais ils me mettent en relation avec l'agence de développement montée la bas pour travailler sur un programme agenda 21 (développement durable). Pas de convention signée pour l'instant.
je ne sais pas trop quoi te dire de plus, mes profs de master m'ont conseillé pas mal de choses (beaucoup de profs font leurs thèses à l'étranger, donc piste les tiens...)
farfouilles aussi sur le net, au niveau des assox d'étudiants en environnement.
le hic c'est que les stage en pays en voie de dvt ne sont généralement pas rémunérés (surtout dans notre branche), a voir avec le crous et le conseil régional pour choper la bourse de mobilité, ou des bourses spéciales stage à l'étranger qui couvrent généralement les billets d'avion...

Je viens de me rendre compte (2 mns après avoir posté mon message précédent) que tu indiques indirectement quand tu viens: janvier à août.
D'ici à janvier j'espère avoir liquidé la villa que je loue (et me coûte trop cher) et avoir fait construire les quelques petites cases sommaires que je voudrais avoir sur un bout de terrain acheté à Bango (village au nord de St-Louis).
Donc, sauf si tu es prête à faire du trajet en taxi matin et soir, je ne serai pas ta solution "logement" à St-louis.
