Pour ton information, nous sommes ici sur un forum et non pas un site d'informations touristiques "anonymes"... le moindre des choses serait quand même de saluer avant de poser ta question d'une façon un peu plus développée ! Par respect aux membres de ce forum !
Je n'ai pas l'info à jour, mais c'est cher (un peu moins qu'au départ de Marseille) sans oublier que tu as toute l'Espagne à traverser, avec le carburant plus cher qu'en France et l'autoroute, très cher aussi !

Le prix n'est pas le même en Rhône-Alpes, à Paris ou dans le Var.
Dans le Var, où je suis souvent, il y a 20 à 25 ct d'euro de différence pour le super 95 entre la station service de ma ville et le centre commercial... Je crois me souvenir qu'en Espagne il y avait moins d'amplitude entre le moins cher et le plus cher dans le même secteur (de mémoire, j'aurais dit 10 ct d'écart), mais je peux me tromper.
Donc, il faut bien, à l'échelle de 2 pays entiers, regarder un prix moyen pour avoir une idée globale, même si l'on n'aime pas les statistiques 😎 😛😛😛

Quand on doit traverser l'Espagne, venant de France, on ne se demande pas si l'Espagne c'est plus cher ou moins cher qu'à Vesoul ou à Lille (ou la moyenne Nationale), on se demande, à l'approche de la frontière, si on fait le plein avant ou après la frontière (grosse concurrence profitable au consomateur), pour rejoindre le port voulu avec un plein sans recharger (avec éventuellement une nourrice de 10 ou 20 litres, je l'ai fait avec de nombreux véhicules, de Bayonne à Ageciras pour aller au Maroc).
Il ne faut donc PAS regarder le prix moyen national, mais la concurrence autour des frontières. Je confirme que du coté Basque (je ne connais pas la situation du coté Catalan ni en Andorre), le gazole et l'essence à Al-Campo ("Auchan, coté Espagnol) et chez Carrouf coté Français, c'est kif-kif à 2 ou 3 centimes près, dans un sens ou dans l'autre (ça dépend des jours et du Bonus-achats).
Maintenant, si tu fais le plein aux stations d'autoroutes, ou au hasard, sans aucune réflexion, autant foutre le pognon par les fenêtres, et je te suivrai avec un filet à papillons !!!
L'an dernier j'ai fait plus de 20 000 km vers le Tadjikistan, et on a passé 13 frontières. Je peux te dire que ce qui contait, c'était le prix aux frontières (grosses concurrence) et pas au cœur des pays traversés ( et le Kazakhstan, c'est très grand et très disparate comme prix). Du coup, j'avais un réservoir de 80 litres et 3 jerrycans pour traverser certains pays "en apnée" si possible. En Europe, je n’achète pas un litre en Italie, quand je vais en Croatie.
Reste que traverser l'Espagne peut être un choix touristique en soi, mais surement pas une économie décisive, dans ce cas précis.
Qui donc a des plans sympas pour l'Algérie d'aujourd'hui ??? Le Sud a l'air assez compromis. La Kabylie ??? Les Aurès ??? Dites-moi tout. Merci.

Pour ce qui est de l'Europe, parce que je n'ai pas l'intention d'aller au Tadjikistan !, en général, je ne prends pas les autoroutes et je fais le plein dès que le réservoir est à moitié vide en visant un supermarché. J'évite les pleins en Italie, sauf si je vais en Grèce en face avec le bateau peut-être; en Croatie, j'essaie de faire le plein à Neum en passant en Bosnie, etc.
Je ne traverse jamais l'Espagne pour aller au Maroc, Tunisie ou Algérie, je fais une boucle en Espagne et je reviens, donc faut bien que je prenne de l'essence en route.
Je n'ai aucun jerrycan dans la voiture.

C'est à cela que Patxi1 a répondu, et Tassili a reconnu s'être trompé, et là dessus tout le monde est d'accord : l'essence n'est PAS plus chère en Espagne qu'en France. Dans le passé (récent), elle fut moins chère pendant longtemps. elle ne l'est PLUS, si on compare des points comparables (c'est-à dire les moins chers, que chacun recherche). Si tu fais une boucle, ton cas ne concerne pas cette discussion. Personnellement, j'ai mes habitudes en Espagne, dans le Sud ou vers Madrid quand je maraude dans le pays. Avec un plein (+ bidons) je fais 1800 bornes en 4x4 et bien plus en Citroën. Dans ces cas, avoir un, ou des, bidons (voir + bas) permet de faire un gros plein au meilleur prix et de rentrer vers le Nord à pas cher et sans plus s'occuper du plein. Visiter les Bardenas sans avoir l’œil sur la jauge et sans guetter la pompe en promo (!). Les jauges d'essence, comme toute chose, ça marche ... jusqu'au moment où ça ne marche plus (l'an dernier, une amie en rade avec sa Golf en Auvergne, jauge électronique indiquant 1/2 plein, réservoir vide). Personnellement, et depuis longtemps (habitude d'ancien motard aussi) je me fie au kilométrage, et je remets le partiel à zéro à chaque plein (maintenant il y a 2 ou 3 totalisateurs partiels, c'est courant et c'est pratique pour ça). Avoir un "jerrycan" ne coûte pas un rond (en fait, j'utilise des bidons de 20-22 litres qui ont contenu du Kerdane de chauffage, fournis gratos par des amis utilisateurs), et ça ne sent rien si on prend la peine de les décompresser, à l'extérieur de la voiture, le premier jour du plein, au moment le plus chaud. Après, ça vit tout seul ("joues creuses" la nuit). Et c'est utile quand on se retrouve (même en Europe) face à des pompes à sec (grêves, ou autres raisons). Pendant une grève en France, j'ai pu "m'évader" de Paris et rejoindre Bayonne puis faire le plein en Espagne (qui n'était pas en grève). Je vais parfois en Bosnie où je "parraine" une école (à Sanski-Most) et un étudiant opéré à cœur ouvert (vers Banja-Luka). Ça vaut le coup de faire de "gros pleins" dans certaines villes de l'Ex-Yogouslavie. Et puis le bidon évite de chercher les pompes ! Il y a mieux à voir ! Il est vrai que, de nos jours, il n'y a même plus de roue de secours dans les bagnoles (moi, si : une ou deux dans ma Citroën, et même 4 si je pars loin en 4x4). J'ai dépanné pas mal de gens en gazole et autres choses "utiles" qu'ils n'avaient pas emportées (et pourtant mon 4x4 était moins chargé que ceux dépannés, mais sans bazar superflu). Chacun voit Midi à sa porte. Bonne route, Mguibentif, en Helvétie ou ailleurs (mais tu n'es pas une aventurière et je n'ai pas de craintes pour toi).

Merci pour l'info LILI, mais actuellement, à part d'aller voir de la famille ou des potes dans le Nord de l'Algérie comme ça semble être le cas sur ce topo, y a-t-il des possibilités d'aller (re)voir des coins assez éloignés des grandes villes du Nord (Kabylie, Aurès, le M'zab, El Goléa, Timimoun ...) ? Les zones "touristiques classiques" du coté de Djanet (Tassili des Ajers) et du coté de Tam (Assekrem) sont-elles accessibles (et éventuellement protégées ?). Les années passent, et j'aimerais bien revoir ce qui est accessible, sans attendre le déluge !

La Kabylie est accessible pour les étrangers sauf certains endroits... sachant qu'il y a encore du terrorisme dans certaines zones...
Les Aurès, je n'en sais pas plus....
La vallée du M'Zab (Ghardaia, Beni Isguen, El Ateuf, etc...) sont libres d'accès et on peut y circuler librement (sauf pour Beni Isguen, El Ateuf, ...., avec guide mozabite)
El Golea, besoin d'un guide à partir de Ghardaia tout comme Timimoun...
Djanet et Tamanrasset, plus possible sauf avec escorte militaire ! =(

Ghardaia aussi est ouverte. Quant au sahara au dessous de Ghardaia ce n'est même pas la peine d'y penser actuellement en tant que voyageur indépendant. Je vous conseille les Aurès et le djebel Amour, etes vous déja allé dans ces endroits les années passées ? quel circuits exactement y avez vous fait ? Trek, circuit 4*4 ? On peut discuter des sites d’intérêts si vous le voulez.

Désolée mais les touristes viennent à El Golea, Timimoun, Taghit, accompagnés par un guide... les "délégations" sont parfois accompagnées par une escorte mais il y a 10 jours par ex. l'escorte a remis les personnes "entre les mains" du guide officiel local (il n'y en a qu'un...) et ils sont repartis avec le chauffeur en 4x4 vers Ghardaia sans escorte !
Donc à ne pas confondre avec l'extrême sud !

Mais, dois-je comprendre qu'au Sud de Ghardaïa il faut être en convoi, et escorté ?
On suit un guide (en 4x4) dans sa caisse (4x4 ou autre) ou bien on doit prendre des 4x4 avec guide au volant ?
Je ne saisis pas bien ce qu'on est autorisé à faire avec son propre véhicule ?
Mon but est de retourner me balader en solo ou à 2 caisses, le plus au Sud possible.
Évidemment, par les temps qui courent, je laisse tomber la piste d'Amguid vers Tam (via la Garet-el-Djenoun) comme vers Djanet (via Gardel), et je laisse tomber aussi Tam-Djanet par Hirafok - Idelès (option Nord) aussi bien que par Tazrouk (option Sud), et c'est bien dommage car j'y aurais bien amené des jeunes qui ne connaissent pas ce pays. Tant pis, ils le feront peut-être sans moi dans 10-15 ans. 🏴☠️

Ça fait un bail que je ne suis pas retourné dans le grand Sud Algérien. Il y a deux ans j'étais au Mali (Bandiagara, Tombouctou), mais direct en zinc sur Bamako (je voulais passer par la Mauritanie avec mon 4x4, mais les autres n'étaient pas d'accord).
Dans le passé (de 1968 à 1980) j'ai fait plusieurs virées ou traversées du Sahara, et fait pas mal d'escalade là-bas (Garet-El-Djenoun, et plusieurs sommets du Hoggar, Ilamane, Tezoulaigs ...), et dans le Nord, des balades dans les Aurès, en Kabylie et des escalades dans le Djurjura (Tikjda, Les Aiguilles de Taltat, "la main du juif" ... au sommet, par beau temps on voit la Méditerranée ...).
Vivement que les Touaregs (et d'autres) obtiennent un statut régional (comme les Catalans et les Basques en Espagne) et pacifient leurs territoires respectifs, pour pouvoir y retourner peinards en faisant marcher le commerce local dans le respect de ces Sites magnifiques (et de ces gens remarquables). Rêvons un peu !!! C'est comme ça que les choses arrivent !

Quels sites as tu fais exactement dans les Aurès ?

Here’s a first draft for a 14-night itinerary during the Christmas break with two teens. We’re especially fond of hiking (nothing too extreme, though), which is why we’re drawn to the south.

Our trip to Morocco will be from November 3 to 17, in the High Atlas.
Basically, our route would be:
Marrakech - Aït Benhaddou
Skoura - Tinghir - Merzouga
Merzouga via the N12 to Zagora
Zagora - Draa Valley - Marrakech
It seems to be the low season, so I’d love to travel without having to book accommodations in advance. In other countries, pre-booking has restricted us and kept us from visiting unplanned sites. Freedom is important to us, but I’d also like to avoid arriving somewhere and finding nothing available. What do you recommend? Book ahead or not? Your advice is always helpful, and thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this for me. Roberto

First of all: a big thank you to everyone whose insightful, funny, lively, and exotic posts we’ve enjoyed. It’s a joy to find such lovely writers on this forum, who’ve given me tons of ideas and addresses to prepare our trip.
Our plan: to explore Morocco from November 2nd to December 4th. We’ll have our own vehicle (a 2011 Renault Grand Scenic, in great condition), shipped with us from Sète to Tanger Med. Returning from Nador.
Our profile: 75 and 62 years young, so old but happy to be, in very good health. Seasoned travelers—it’s practically our whole life. Lovers of beautiful landscapes, historic sites, fine craftsmanship, and road trips. This will be my 3rd trip to Morocco, but the first two were 20 and 17 years ago. I’ve never been north of the Essaouira-Marrakech line (though I’ve gone further south). As for my husband, a lifelong expat including in Muslim countries, it’s his first time in Morocco.
He’s the one driving. He’s very experienced, cautious, not necessarily fast, but used to driving in all conditions (and countries, including the most creative on the road). But I don’t want to tire him out, and he no longer drives at night (and we’ll be there in November).
I’ve decided to show him a bit of everything by taking a road trip along beautiful backroads, with daily distances averaging 180-200 km (except on highways, which will be rare), regularly broken up by rest days. I’m counting on a speed of 40-50 km/h, plus stops/visits along the way.
Since I’ve read so many posts, I’ve narrowed it down to some very specific questions.
1) Coming directly from Rabat via the highway, we’d prefer to skip Marrakech*. Still, we’ll need to sleep somewhere nearby. We’ll head toward Skoura the next day. Does anyone have a well-located address for this route, possibly east of Marrakech? Ideally, we’re looking for a small town, easy parking, clean accommodation (minimum) with average comfort (or better if available), a bit heated, and if possible, pretty and/or nice—but above all, a place to sleep well, wash with lukewarm (ideally hot) water, and have a decent dinner.
(*Explanation for the "no-go" in Marrakech: it’s a shame, because there are truly beautiful things in this city, but I think the vibe won’t suit us—it’s an understatement for "it’ll put us off" / "make us flee" / "traumatize us." Not because it’s too crowded and we want to stand out from tourists (we’re part of them), but because of forced henna on your hand, or spending 10 minutes every quarter-hour saying "no thank you" to a "guide" who’s as much a guide as I am a trapeze artist. Knowing us, it’ll wear us down. The country is vast and beautiful, and our time too short to waste our memories just days after arriving. And I don’t want to ruin things for my peaceful husband, or he’ll demand we turn back—and Sète in November isn’t exactly thrilling either.)
2) Which route to Skoura (in 2 days)? I see two options: either via the Tichka Pass, with a night in Telouet before reaching Skoura, or via the R307/N23 from Demnate, with a night near Megdaz before descending to Skoura. He quoted us a price of 380 € for April. What do you think of this rate? This might sound like a silly question, but is it common to negotiate the price for this kind of thing (we're booking from France)? It’s still a big part of our travel budget.

Given the overwhelming amount of info, I’m feeling a bit swamped with the prep this trip requires, and I’ll admit I’m a little lost when it comes to figuring out what’s realistic to visit in two weeks 😕 So, all your tips, personal experiences, and suggestions are more than welcome!

I’ve read through the various discussions about the country, but I’m still a bit unsure🤪: for currency exchange, I saw on the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that withdrawing currency with a bank card from ATMs is limited to 200 TND per week. There are four of us traveling by car, so that might be a bit tight! And it’s a hassle to carry a lot of cash, even if I’m not being paranoid! What do you all recommend?

So I’m looking for tips on little backroads, secluded beaches, half-day hikes, and offbeat places.

After many trips to the south of Fès, I’m giving the north a try.

I’m planning to go back myself soon to reconnect with my roots... before I pass away...
I’ve started making a few pre-bookings for hotels and apartments to rent in Algiers. At first, I received friendly and welcoming responses. Then, when I mentioned I wanted to stay for two or three weeks—maybe even a month—explaining that my trip wouldn’t be strictly touristy but more of a pilgrimage to the places of my childhood, and that it would likely be a very emotional journey, I expected a positive and warm reaction to my approach. Instead, I suddenly stopped getting replies from the three or four people I’d contacted. So now I’m wondering about the reception former Pieds-Noirs can expect...
Anyone here who can share their experience of returning? I specified “recently” because it seems that right now, diplomatic relations between the two governments are extremely tense, not to say hostile... even if Macron claims otherwise...

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been through the process about the accommodation attestation required for the visa application:
- Does it need to cover the entire duration of the trip?
- Is this document mandatory for a hotel to rent a room?
- Is it checked during inspections?
- Is a hotel booking (e.g., via Booking.com) sufficient for the visa?
- If so, does it need to be paid in advance?
I plan to visit several cities and do one or more treks with a guide or agency. If you have any contacts you’d recommend, I’d be grateful!
Also, I’d love to share this trip with a companion who’s already done some traveling. We’d organize the journey together, of course.

I’m leaving for Tunisia in five weeks for a full 15-day trip. I’ll be arriving in Monastir and departing from there as well.
I’d like to do a route that’s a bit different from my first stay, which was more focused on cities and culture (Tunis, Sousse, Kairouan, El Jem).
I’ll be getting around by public transport.
I’d like to head south toward Tozeur, and I saw that you can take a *louage* from Monastir to Sbeitla (2h30). I imagine it’s not too complicated to get to Tozeur from there afterward? The issue is the return trip to Monastir and safety in Sbeitla.
If this route seems too complicated, I might opt for Djerba instead, which looks simpler.

Even though I come to Morocco four times a year, it’s been a long time since I’ve made the trip by car. I need to refresh my knowledge! I’ll be traveling in early October. I have a car that’s about 20 years old. The plan is to cross via Algeciras/Ceuta.
A few questions:
1) Does this crossing still exist? If so, do I need to buy the ticket in advance or on the spot? From whom? Any advice is welcome!
2) What documents are required for the car?
3) If anyone is making the trip around the same time, it could be fun to drive together 😊
