Bonjour, pour aller a Khanom il y a l'avion environ 1500 bht mais je trouve que l'on perd beaucoup de temps : taxi bkk aéroport 1h +2h avant décollage + 1h30 pour rejoindre aéroport surat thani a la ville
et aprés 2heures entre chercher le minivan et faire le trajet .
Je préfere le train de nuit BKK Surat thani même prix que l'avion qui arrive ale matin et a la gare il y a le passage des minis van pour Khanom
Le pris pour le trajet est de 150 bht ( seul un Thai m'a eu le billet a ce prix )
Attention il y a 2 Khanom distants de 2 ou 3 km . Pour aller de surat thani a krabi : le bus

Ce qui m'ennuie dans le voyage par train est que nous arrivons de France à 07h00 le matin, rejoindre la gare et attendre jusqu’à 20h00 pour prendre le train.

Arrivée à Surat Thani, le trajet coûte dis-tu 150 baths pour aller à Khanom, qui est distante de 90 kms, ce qui me semble peu cher.
Question subsidiaire:
Sais-tu si il est possible de Khanom de rejoindre Samui facilement?

Voici quelques informations.
Prendre le train Bangkok-Nakhon Sri Thammarat ( = NST).
Ou celui de nuit pour Trang qui offre des couchettes.
Ensuite songthaew pour la gare routiere pour prendre un minibus vers NST ou vers Krabi.
En sortant de la gare de NST , environ 200 m coté gauche dans une petite rue masquée se trouvaient des minibus desservant Khanom.
Chumphon -Ranong : trajet desservi par quelques bus longue distance ou par des minibus partant pas tres loin de la gare de Chumphon .
A 7 kms de Ranong centre , se trouve le port desservi par des lignes regulieres de songthaew publics.
Port sur un estuaire avec grosse activité de pirogues à moteur avec ville birmane .
Chumphon -Bang Krut : desservi par le train ( bus également ).
Ci-dessous quelques infos que j'ai posté autrefois lors d'un séjour à NST et des informations
certaine en anglais que j'avais touvé sur le NET .

Deplacement aux plages de Sichon sur la cote est :
Il faut prendre un minibus stationné sur un petit parking anonyme , en empruntant la deuxieme rue à gauche en sortant de la gare.
Une modeste cabane vend les billets . Distance environ 200 m de la gare mais pas bien visible . Cout : 60 baths
Juste a coté se trouve une grande gargotte delivrant un delicieux Chicken/Rice /bouillon pour 30 baths avec serveuses et cuisinieres
souriantes.
Arrivé à Sichon , terminus devant la Siam Bank (qui fait le change ) , j ai demandé aux locaux ou se trouvait la mer .
Me voilà parti à pied tout guilleret quand on a fini par m'avertir qu' en fait celle-ci était eloignée et qu'il fallait s'y rendre en mototaxi .
En effet il faut compter au moins 3 kms pour atteindre la premiere plage apres avoir longé l'estuaire de la riviere .
Au débouché de ce dernier se trouve une charmante petite plage ombragée et aux eaux cristallines , dénommée Hin Ngam beach
Agréable surprise :ses fonds ne sont pas vaseux comme pourraient le laisser supposer la presence de l'estuaire voisin .
possibilité de loger à Prasarnsook Villa Resort en bungalows dans une cocoteraie pour 1000 baths juste devant cette plage.
Un promontoire sépare cette petite plage de la grande plage de Sichon, Piti Beach , bordée de quelques resorts .
Celle-ci ne m'a pas vraiment plus , le soleil tapait dur , il n y avait pas d'ombre et puis a proximité
de quelques barques de peche , le sable n était pas des plus propre .
Deplacement aux plages de Khanom sur la cote est :
Depart du minibus au meme endroit que pour Sichon .Cout :80 baths
Attention : La bourgade de Khanom s'etend en longueur et est eclatée en deux .
le minivan vous laisse à celle la plus au Nord mais repart de celle la plus au sud .
Idem , pour gagner les plages il faut recourir à des taxismotos , je n ai pas aperçu
de songthaew les desservant .
De nombreux resorts ou hotels sont installés à la sortie sud de la ville et se succèdent le long d'une grande plage Hat Nai Prao , Hai TongYA plus
belle qu'à Sichon .Ex: Golden Beach Hotel chambres à 1800-4800 baths mais vu la faible frequentation hors saison et en semaine
possibilité de negocier .
Et puis une chouette decouverte !! une dizaine de kms au Nord de Khanom = Thong Ching Beach .
La route aboutit à une grande anse sableuse ou stationnent quelques barques de pecheurs
et vendeuses . Sur la droite monte une piste qui à son sommet devoile une vue
magnifique : montagnes couvertes de jungle plongeant dans une mer couleur emeraude .
A l' horizon on distingue les hauteurs de Ko Samui et quelques ilots plus rapprochés du continent .
Koh wang Nok, Koh Wang Yai , Koh Rap
La piste plonge vers une anse de sable blanc nichée au pied des hauteurs
et là caché parmi les cocotiers se trouve un petit resort à 1000 baths la nuit avec petit dej .
Un petit paradis tropical ! mais il faut etre motorisé pour y acceder ou alors s'arranger avec un taximoto
pour se deplacer .

There is no local bus service in Khanom, and very few song-taws, no tuk-tuks, but quite a few motorcyle taxis. You could rent a pickup if you like, or hire someone to drive you around. Mini-vans are also available on a half day or daily basis.
You can fly from Bangkok to Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, or Koh Samui. I can arrange pickup from Nakhon si Thammarat or Surat Thani, the price is around 2000 baht.
There are two or more buses leaving from the Southern Bus Terminal around 7.30. They arrive in Khanom; which is the end of the line; around 6 a.m. .
You can take the train to Surat Thani or Nakhon Si Thammarat, and then take a mini-bus to Khanom.
You can take the 7.30 or 10.30 buses to Koh Samui from Hat Yai and tell the driver you want to stop in Amphoe Khanom. The bus to Hat Yai passes through Khanom around 10.00 and 12.00.

There is infrequent sang-thaew service to or from Don Sak pier. Motorcycle taxis are available, or I can arrange for you to be picked
pour kanom, faut aller jusqu'a surat tani, et de la gare des bus, prendre un songtaew jusqu' a khanom, puis nai plao beach et pour vous reperer, il y a le supar royal hotel, un peu grand mais prix négociables environ 1000bhats la chambre avec ptit dej, je n'y ai pas dormi mais j'ai profité de leur piscine et du resto qui est très bon , voir excellent selon les plats, compter 250 à 500 bhat le repas.
50 metres avant le supar royal hotel, sur le cote plage, il y a une maison de plein pied, séparée en 2, ce sont 2 appartements, avec terrasse qui donne sur la mer directement, un grand salon, une grande chambre, une enorme salle de bain, un coin cuisine a l'exterieur, tout ça pour 900 bahts negociés pour 7 jours sur place. c'est tenu par un suisse que j'ai vu que le jour de mon départ... mais la femme de ménage est adorable.
juste en face, un petit resto prépare quelques bons plats thaIs, et ils proposent aussi des bungalows a louer pour pas cher, personnel super gentil et vrai sourire, + desserts offerts de temps a autre.
aussi a une 10ene de km au nord de nai plao beach il y a le bourg qui s'appelle khanom, avec les banques et des magasins, prendre la route qui longe la plage depuis at nai plao qui finit sur un croisement, a gauche c'est khanom a droite c'est la plage assez sale de khanom, et a cet endroit on trouve des tas de restos paillotes pur Thaïs, et nous avons adoré le namtok mu, salade d'émincés de porc avec sésame et je sais plus quoi, mais vraiment trop bon...
aussi la quelques très beaux spots (plages) en remontant au nord vers surat tani en suivant la côte, tres tres bons restos dans le coin.
je viens de verifier le trajet Khanom surat thani est a 200bht
je pense que l'embarcadère pour samui n'est pas trés loin de Khanom a vérifier ....
A khanom nous avons été au Palme Hills resort
Il est a3minutes de la ville mais il faut avoir un moto . Ils en louent a l'hotel et ils viennent vous chercher a l'arret du mini van
C'est un hotel tout simple et très propre avec tout le confort. Pas de petit dejeuner mais du café et du thé a disposition ainsi que des fruits et des gateaux de riz sont offert tous les jours
Nous n'avons pratiquement pas vu de touristes a Khanom et les plages étaient désertes on a adoré cette ville purement Thai
Génial toutes ces infos, je passe à Khanom en janvier pour voir après Ko Sukorn, et je remonte ensuite vers Prachuap Kiri Kan, à la recherche d'un coin sympa où revenir l'hiver suivant pour ne rien faire ...
Attention , les prix que j'indique datent de quelques années.
Parmi les photos qu' un autre VFiste nous a envoyées , apparait une plage avec une colline
couverte de jungle . Celle-ci ressemble beaucoup au joli coin que j'avais découvert pres de Khanom . De cette plage on pouvait apercevoir les iles au loin .
Prachuap Khiri Khan : Petite ville qui m'a beaucoup plu mais qu'en est-il aujourd' hui ?
Disons que j'ai vu le développement immobilier de Hua Hin , Prachuap a peut-être connu le meme sort . Mais ce qu'il faut savoir c'est que la cote est plate et qu' il faut s'eloigner du bord
pour trouver de la profondeur et pouvoir nager . A Prachuap , les chalutiers accostent au bout d'une longue jetée et ne peuvent s'approcher du rivage.
J'ai dormi plusieurs fois au HadThong .
L'hotel se trouve en ville , en bord de mer .
Il dispose d'une piscine .
Rien à redire sur cet hotel , tres bon accueil du personnel .
Marché , Poste , banques tout pres .
Mais... hotel tres fréquenté le weekend par les familles thaies , tranquille en semaine .
Et s'assurer qu' il vieillit bien .

Notre séjour dans ces 2 hôtels date de février 2015, hôtels corrects, propres et de bon rapport.
Celui de Bang Krut est particulièrement apprécié par nos amis Germaniques, Norvégiens, très peu de Français.Une piscine magnifique (25X15) sans personne dedans, mais en réfléchissant bien je me demande si ce n'est pas vous qui m'aviez donné l'adresse.

Vous avez Bangsaphan qui est un endroit vraiment agréable avec ses bungalow près de la plage. Deux endroits que nous aimons bien.
Je retiens pour février un coin que je ne connais pas encore Khanom et ses environs.

Bonjour les exagération dans les temps de transport indiqués et pour un vol domestique il ne sert à rien d'être deux heures avant à l'aéroport, car l'enregistrement des bagages est clos 45 minutes avant le décollage.
Quelques infos de mars 2017 sur les transports pour se rendre à Khanom
CHUMPHON-SURAT THANI
Train
L'Express part de la Gare de Chumphon à 5h59 AM, et arrive à 8h15 à la gare de Surat Thani (100Baht), gare qui se trouve à 13km du centre de Surat Thani. Le « Special express » de l'après midi est beaucoup plus cher, et l' « Ordinary » une heure après le Spécial express arrive assez tard à Surat Thani, d'où le choix de l'Express de 5,59 AM.
Minibus Chumphon-Surat Thanis : 170B et 2h30, nombreux départ de la gare routière des minibus du centre ville, qui est dans le pâté de maison en face de Salsa Hotel, après la station service PT et à 200m de Ocean Departement store. (Coordonnées GPS : 10.500222, 99.179923) Elle est clairement indiquée sur les cartes du logiciel de repérage gratuit « Mapsme », contrairement aux cartes touristiques papiers.
Selon l'office de touriste officiel TAT, il n'existe pas de gros bus qui font la liaison Chumphon-Surat Thani. Cependant près du Café Amazon, 100m à droite en sortant de la gare ferroviaire, des gros bus VIP font la liaison entre Chumphon et HatYai (7h30, 355baht, 4 fois par jour, 8h30 9h30 11h30 21h00, même horaires pour le retour de Hat Yai à Chumphon) et ces gros bus peuvent éventuellement nous déposer à l'aéroport de Surat Thani (2h30, 170B) mais ensuite, ce n'est pas pratique/économique du tout pour se rendre au centre de Surat Thani.(le Drop Off de ces bus VIP est à l'aéroport, même pas à la nouvelle gare routière longue distance de Surat Thani, car l'aéroport est plus proche de l'autoroute)
SURAT THANI-KHANOM
De la gare ferroviaire de Surat Thani, un vieux bus orange part peu après l'arrivé du train pour le centre ville et a pour terminus Talad Kaset 1, (15 ou 20B, 30 minutes) Talad Kaset1 qui l'une des 2 gares routières des minibus du centre ville. (Ce bus orange passe aussi par la gare routière des bus longue distance de Surat Thani, le « ST Bus terminal », qui est à 8km à l'extérieur de la ville)
De Talak Kaset 1 traverser Talak Main Road et juste en face, il y a la seconde gare routière Talak Kaset2. Au fond de la gare routière Talak Kaset 2, il y a le départ des minibus Surat Thani-Khanom toutes les 45minutes environ pour exactement 100baht, 1h15. Le départ des minibus pour Khanom est vraiment au fond et au centre de la gare routière Talak Kaset2, . Pour acheter ses billets à 100baht, le comptoir de la compagnie est au fond de l'allée centrale de la gare Talak Kaset 2, près des petits restos, juste à coté des toilettes à 5B, et pas très loin du minibus marqué Khanom en anglais qui attends. (GPS : 9.143083, 99.331143)
Ce minibus nous déposa sympathiquement en face du café « Khanom Expresso » soit l'endroit le plus proche du milieu de la plage de Khanom sur son trajet, et soit environ à 1,5km de la plage. Mais les hébergements de Khanom sont si dispersés que l'on risque d’être à au moins 4 ou 5 km de celui que l'on désire comme par exemple Baansommanee gh. A Khanom les distances sont grandes et il faut impérativement des roues (vélo, moto) pour se déplacer !

« Surat Thani has three bus stations. Located off the north side of Talad Mai Road between Soi 8 and Soi 10, the local bus station is known as Talad Kaset 1, with an English sign that says “Downtown Transportation Hub 1”. It services local orange buses that run frequently to/from the train station (15 baht) and long-distance bus terminal (10 baht) from 07:00 to 18:00. Chaiya: Minibuses depart every 20 minutes from 07:00 to 17:00 for 50 baht and take about an hour.
Chumphon: Minibuses depart hourly from 07:00 to 17:00 for 170 baht and take 2.5 hours.
Khanom: Minibuses depart every 45 minutes from 07:00 to 18:00 for 100 baht and take a little over an hour.

Surat Thani's train station is actually located in the town of Phun Phin, some 13 kilometres west of downtown Surat. Orange local buses depart frequently from Talad Kaset 1 Station and can take you straight to the train station for 15 baht; you can also flag them down as they head west along Talad Mai Road. The same local buses pick up in front of the train station, or you can give in to taxi drivers who will ask for at least 300 baht to downtown Surat.

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:

Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

If you’ve had the experience—and since I’ve read (though it’s not very clear) that these two islands get quite crowded during this period—would you recommend booking accommodation well in advance, or is it easy to find something on the spot?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. After Angkor, I’ve booked a stay on Ko Chang island. Does anyone know if there are direct transport options from Cambodia to Ko Chang without having to go back through Bangkok? That would be amazing!!

No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??

From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄).
Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM.
