Hello, We’re traveling as a family with two boys aged 10 and 12 to Cairo in February. During our trip, we’re planning to take an overnight train (with or without a sleeper) for the Cairo-Aswan route. Do you know how I can book this remotely?

Also, I’m looking for: - A local contact to sail the Nile by felucca for 3 days from Aswan - A contact to guide us in Cairo

Looking forward to your tips, and thanks in advance! Marie

Hello everyone, Here’s the link to book your tickets: https://enr.gov.eg/o-city/obs/enr/railway/en/booktickets but for now, it’s only for Egyptians ??? You can also check out this site—it’s packed with info on trains in Egypt: https://www.seat61.com/Egypt.htm#Talgo_trains or this one: https://www.ask-aladdin.com/ And on the official site, you’ll often run into bugs. For the rest, I’ll send you the details in private—they can definitely help with your tickets, because you need to know that you should book them at least 24 to 48 hours in advance, depending on your option. Hi everyone, Before I share more details in private, just so you know—depending on the number of days for your felucca or dahabiya cruise, don’t expect to go all the way to Luxor. It’s impossible, plus cruises usually start in Esna or Aswan, so there’s always a portion where you’ll need a car transfer, unless you book a cruise for at least 5 days *and* the wind is favorable. Be careful, at this time of year it can get really cold, not to mention the humidity at night and the risk of frost. You’ll still be well protected, but it’s pretty spartan. And it can still be expensive—I never share prices, though. Thoutmosis

Hi there, No worries for February—nights can be chilly but it’s manageable. The felucca cruise will likely depart from southern Aswan and stop just before Edfu. Usually, you can get a transfer included to Edfu for the temple visit and then on to Luxor. I can give you a contact for a reliable agency for the felucca trip. The overnight train is a fun option, though it can be a bit spartan depending on the carriage’s condition. Expect a probable delay of a few hours. Bookings are made at https://abelatrains.com. The site’s a bit clunky, but you’ll get there in the end.
