Hello, we’re heading to Mauritius for two weeks at the end of October. We’ll be staying in Trou aux Biches. We’d like to explore the island by bus if possible, so if you have any tips, we’d love to hear them. We’re on half-board, so we’ll also be checking out some nice, typical little restaurants and snack spots. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi there,

There are plenty of buses on the island.

Even though I preferred renting a car, I think it's possible to get to many places using public transport.

That said, don’t rush and don’t try to do too much in a single day.

Since you’ll be in the north of the island, watch out for traffic jams when heading to the area south of the capital! Plan generously for travel time.

Hi there, What I’d recommend is hiring a taxi for the day—the drivers take you wherever you want, and they’ve got great tips. It’s way more convenient than the bus, and it’s not too expensive either.
