Hi there,

We’re arriving in Singapore for 3 days before heading to Malaysia. We wanted to start with the south of the east coast and make our way north, but transfers from Singapore are complicated. Has anyone been to Tioman Island? How did you get there? I saw a route involving a bus and car. Has anyone taken a Grab for this trip to avoid switching transport modes, especially since we have luggage and kids? 🙂 Thanks—I’m open to all your tips, since we don’t want to rent a car and we’d like to head up to the Perhentians afterward.

Thanks so much!

Boat from Mersing. Around 3-4 hours journey.

Hi, Grab won’t cross the border at Johor Bahru. The easiest way is to take the bus (very comfortable) from Singapore to Mersing, then the ferry to Tioman. Remember to exchange money in Mersing—there’s only one ATM on Tioman. Use Easybook for bookings. Safe travels.

Hi there, Well, I just came across your post because I’ve been researching this non-stop—since if I go, I’ll be heading back down to Singapore afterward. All those hours of travel are such a hassle. Check out https://www.kkkl.com.sg/bus-from-singapore-to-tioman-island-ferry/ Malaysia is amazing—I’ve been twice and I’ll go back. Singapore is a favorite of mine, which is why I’m returning there, actually. Safe travels😉
