Hi there,
We're a family with two kids aged 7 and 2, planning a trip to Morocco from December 21 to 28, 2026.
We're thinking of spending 2 days and 2 nights in Marrakech, then heading out on the third morning to the Erg Chebbi dunes (Merzouga or Khamlia, still deciding), and returning to catch our flight.
The plan is to go via Skoura, the Valley of Roses, the Dadès Gorges, Tinghir, to reach the Merzouga dunes. On the way back, we'd stop at Tamnougalt before returning to Marrakech.
A few notes, since traveling with young kids slows everything down:
- Ideally, we'd like to travel by shared taxi or bus
- I don’t want to stop and sleep in Ouarzazate, as I’ve already visited.
Questions:
- Does this seem doable in December (especially the Marrakech-Ouarzazate stretch)?
- Which overnight stops would you recommend between Marrakech and Merzouga? We’ll spend 2 nights in two different places, then 2 nights in Merzouga, and 1 night in Tamnougalt.
- I’d prefer shared taxis, but can they drop us off a bit farther than city centers (e.g., if our hostel is a few kilometers from Boulmane Dadès, or not in central Merzouga but in Khamlia)? Basically, is it possible to travel a little off the beaten path with shared taxis?
- We love family-friendly hostels—if you have any recommendations, we’re all ears!
Thanks, fellow travelers, for your tips!
Mélanie

Hi there,
We’re heading out at the end of February for a road trip with our two kids, ages 3 and 7. Our itinerary includes Ait Ben Haddou, Tizi-n-Tichka, Sourate, Tinghir, Zagora, Ouarzazate, Ouzoud, and Essaouira. I’d love recommendations for accommodations, restaurants, and typical/spectacular spots to visit. We’d like to spend a night in the Zagora desert. We’re looking for authenticity and a friendly vibe—not tourist traps—for our trip. We’ll be there during Ramadan—any tips? Thanks in advance!
Your fellow globetrotter’s perspective is invaluable.

Hello,
I’d like to go to Morocco with my 10-year-old daughter for three weeks in February.
Do you think, as women traveling alone, we’ll feel comfortable? Sorry if my question seems odd, but when I mentioned my plans, I got some hesitant reactions.
I’ve never been to North Africa. I’ve traveled several times to the Sultanate of Oman, where I felt very at ease as long as we respected the basic cultural norms. For those who know Morocco, do you think it’s different? Would it be appropriate for me to cover my head?
I was thinking of arriving in Agadir and spending a few days in Taghazout and the surrounding area. After that, if you have any tips, I’m all ears. We’re looking to discover Moroccan cultures, see artisans at work, or even try our hand at a local craft—we’d love that. Simply meeting families, seeing landscapes, animals, and soaking in the culture gently, opening ourselves to something new—that’s what motivates us. And if there are opportunities to listen to local music, even better.
We’ll be traveling by public transport. Thanks in advance for your ideas. Happy travels to everyone.

Hi everyone,
I'm making good progress on planning my trip thanks to all your tips.
I have my return flight from Hurghada on the 18th in the very late evening.
I was thinking of spending 2 days by the Red Sea so the boys can enjoy the water:
-Can you swim in the Red Sea in mid-February? Is the water temperature okay? -People are recommending I go to Safaga rather than Hurghada—do you agree? -How do I make the trip from Luxor to Safaga or Hurghada, by bus or taxi? Do you have any idea of the taxi price? A contact?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Marie

Hi there,
We’re a group of 14 (adults and kids), and we’re planning the following itinerary for next October:
- Day 0: Arrival and visit Fès - Day 1: Depart Fès for Midelt - Overnight in Midelt - Day 2: From Midelt to Merzouga - Overnight in Merzouga (camp in the dunes) - Day 3: From Merzouga to the Dadès Gorges - Overnight in the Dadès Gorges - Day 4: Excursion and hike in the Dadès Gorges - Overnight in the Dadès Gorges - Day 5: From Dadès to Marrakech (visiting Ouarzazate studios and Aït Ben Haddou) - Day 6: Explore Marrakech - Day 7: Return
Any tips or suggestions for this plan? Is quad biking or buggy riding in the dunes (for adults, obviously) worth it? Which spots are really worth stopping at—and which ones aren’t?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hi everyone,
We’re a family of 5—2 adults and 3 kids aged 8, 10, and 16.
We arrive on 20/04/2026 at noon at Ouarzazate Airport and return on 29/04/2026 at noon from Marrakech Airport.
We plan to rent a car in Ouarzazate and drop it off in Marrakech.
What we’d love: discovering the landscapes of southern Morocco, meeting locals, and experiencing the desert. We’d prefer to stay in comfortable, clean places with nature views—not too noisy. We’re aiming for half-board (except in Marrakech). We don’t want to feel rushed, but I’m not sure what to skip.
This is our first time doing a somewhat itinerant trip, and it’s our first family trip abroad. We don’t want the kids to get tired of daily hotel changes, which is why I’m questioning the options in my draft itinerary. I’d be so grateful for your thoughts on it, and if you have any great recommendations—especially some with pools!
As for prices, I’m struggling to gauge what’s reasonable. For 5 people, we quickly need 2 rooms, and for nicer places with pools, I’m seeing rates around 160 € to 190 € per night. That seems expensive to me.

hi,
we’re heading to the Coralia Venus hotel near Yasmine Hammamet this summer. can you suggest some family-friendly activities? I’d love to take my kids on a quad bike tour. How long does it last and how much does it cost, please?

Hi fellow travelers,
We’d love to explore Djerba with our kids (ages 6 to 14) during the Carnival holidays. I read this amazing travel journal --> https://voyageforum.com/forum/djerba-loin-plages-d8207655/ and it really got us excited.
We’re wondering what’s kid-friendly there? We’d like to stay at a hotel in Djerba and plan a few day trips.
Thanks in advance for your tips!

Hi everyone,
We’re two families planning a trip to Egypt with our kids during the autumn 2025 holidays. Our youngest will be 5 1/2 at the time. Do you think this is a good idea? Is a guide absolutely necessary? We were hoping to travel independently (4 adults and 4 kids).
Here’s what I had in mind—let me know if this seems doable or if I’m way off 😉 - Day 1: Cairo (Khan el Khalili souk, Saladin Citadel, and maybe a museum if possible) - Day 2: Saqqara necropolis - Day 3: Giza Plateau - Day 5: Fly to Luxor and visit Luxor Temple in the evening - Day 6: Visit Karnak Temple early in the morning, relax in the afternoon, and a felucca ride in the evening - Day 7: Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple - Day 8: Hot-air balloon ride and Medinet Habu Temple - Day 9: Bus to the Red Sea for diving and chilling until our return flight.
I tried to leave some downtime for the kids, but I’m not sure how realistic the visiting times are. Thanks so much for your thoughts!!

Hello
We’ll be in Sharm el-Sheikh starting next Thursday for a week. It’s me, my partner, and our 8-year-old. We’d love to do a Bedouin dinner-show under the stars (no quads, camels, etc.). Can you recommend a local agency?
Thanks

Hello, I’m flying with a 1-year-old baby.
Hi there, and thanks for accepting my post. Can I check a lightweight stroller and a hiking baby carrier for free with Ryanair?
Best regards, Franck

Hello,
We’re heading to Hurghada for the end-of-year holidays—could you recommend some excursions for us (we’re a couple with our 14-year-old son)? Any trustworthy agencies you’d suggest? Do we need a visa?
Looking forward to your tips. Best regards

Hi everyone, due to my partner’s work training abroad, he can’t join us for our week-long trip to Morocco in early November. So I’ll be alone with my 3-year-old daughter. My in-laws live in Marrakech, where we’ll be staying with my little one, but I’ve never actually met them. I’m feeling a bit stressed—should I cancel (and lose my flight tickets) or go ahead and travel alone? We’ll be in Marrakech, but I still don’t have a car either. Are there others in the same situation—traveling with kids? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
