Hi there, a group of girlfriends and I are heading to Tunisia. We’d love to know how much cash we should bring for 6 days, considering everything’s already paid for at the hotel. Thanks for your tips!

Hi there,

It depends on what you’ve got planned—whether there are excursions or guided tours (I imagine you can pay for those by card too).

Otherwise, ATMs are everywhere, and Tunisia is really budget-friendly for us French tourists (just remember to haggle in the souks!).

Hi Angélique, as Marie said, it obviously depends on your budget and what you plan to do. If you're thinking of buying a rug, going on a desert excursion, etc., you'll need more than if you don't leave the hotel! But if you're on all-inclusive, with no accommodation costs and few restaurants, it’ll be different. It also depends on where you are and what activities you find. You’ll spend more in Hammamet, Tunis, or Djerba than in Monastir, Mahdia, or Tabarka. There are ATMs everywhere. Have a great trip!

Hi there,

Just so you know, agencies that offer excursions or drivers only accept cash payments. Some say their card machine isn’t working, but others are upfront that card payments come with too many fees for them.

That was my experience in Tozeur, Douz, Tamerza, and Matmata.
