Nous partons en juillet 2010 pour 20 jours de voyage en motos, nos motos sont des "gros" trails et une harley denomée "mamie blue"... depart bergerac, et Italie, Slovenie , Croatie, Hongrie , Roumanie, Bulgarie, Turquie, Grece , Macedoine, Albanie, Montenegros, Croatie, Italie.
C'est avec grand interêt que j'ai suivi l'échange sur les pistes de turquie, merci pour tous les conseils qui ont égrénés les differents couriels..;
Bon au fait: cet été nous nous sommes fixé Istanbul comme objectif , cette ville sera capitale des arts ..;et nous redoutons qu'il y ait beaucoup de monde, enfin...
Questions: pourriez vous nous indiquer un camping pres d'Istanbul ou nous pourrions laisser les motos afin de visiter cette tres belle ville;
A part les deux tres beau édifices, et le souc pourriez vous nous indiquer des quartiers "vrai" (vie , marché, restau vraiment turque, enfin pas tourd operator)
Normalement nous avons prevu pour le retourd de passer en Grece par la E55 (frontiere Krimoi je crois)et go to thessaloniki et apres les Balkands.
Mais si nous avons un peu d'avance sur le road book , pouriez vous nous indiquer un "itineraire bis" qui nous permettrait de faire le tourd de la Marara Denizi et prendre un bateau pres des Dardanelles par exemple.
Cette idée est telle viable en deux jours maxi hélas nous avons un timing assez précis.
L'idée de rouler un peu en Turquie me tente et a vous lire cela me donne envie de le proposer au autre compères. Je crois que la turquie est pleine de merveille, lieu, rencontre et d'aventure on the road.je suis sur que ce sera une prochaine destination.

Je dois vous dire tout d'abord que vous avez choisi un itinéraire très beau..Je pense que vous allez traverser toute l'Italie puis passer en Grece en bateau et aller vers la Turquie.
Traversée de l'Italie en moto est une ligne droite, au bout de moment est un peu fatiguante et ennuyante. Essayez de trouver un bateau à Brindisi ( sur la pointe) qui part le soir vers Igoumenitsa, ça va vous permettre de dormir dans le bateau.
La Grèce est un pays regal pour les motards. Arrivé à Igoumenitsa, vous pouvez soit prendre l'autoroute qui vient d'être construite ou la route national qui traverse les belles montagnes grecques ( un bel itineraire pour les motos). Tout au long de la route il y a des villages où on mange très bien avec des prix raisonables. Nord de la Grece vers la Turquie, ne ratez pas les villes de Kavala et Alexandrapolis.
Passez la frontière par Ipsala ou Pazarkapi. ( Evitez Kapikule, �� cette époque il risque d'avoir beacoup de monde)
Entré en Turquie, ça vaux le coup de voir Edirne, la première ville turque et ensuite vers Istanbul, vous aurrez 3 itinéraires:
1- Rapide: De Edirne prendre directement l'autoroute et en deux heures vous étez à Istanbul
2- Court: vous pouvez longer la mer noir ( voir le village de Kiyiköy) jusqu'à Saray et puis Catalca. Ici vous prenez l'autoroute qui vous mène à Istanbul.
3- Long: De Edirne à Kesan puis Eceabat puis Kilitbahir. (une tres belle route qui longe les Dardanelles). Ici vous prenez le ferry pour aller à Canakkale. Vers le sud, le village de Assos à voir.
De Assos vous suivez Ayvalik - Balıkesir - Bursa. ( ce dernier à visiter!)
De Bursa à Mudanya ( Guzelyali) où vous prenez le ferry pour aller directement au centre d'Istanbul pour éviter toutes les zones industrielles.
Les campings sont trop loin d'Istanbul. Ici, les gens mettent leurs motos en générale dans des parking fermés.
En Turquie, faitez très attention à la route! Vous n'avez plus la priorité de passage! Les conducteurs turcs n'ont pas encore l'habitude des motos comme en France et les routes ne sont toujours pas en bon états. Il peut y avoir toujours des surprises comme une bosse, un trou ou le rétrecissement des voies... non signalés. C'est pour ça evitez de roulez dans la nuit.

Il convient de préciser que les routes grecques - les turques aussi d'ailleurs, mais on s'y attend plus - sont extrêmement dangereuses sous la pluie, et que le mieux est de s'arrêter, de ne pas chercher à poursuivre, d'attendre que ça sèche.

Nous partons le 24 juillet de bergerac nous traverserons les alpes et la deuxieme étape se fera pres de venise , ensuite nous envigeons de traverser la slovenie , pour dormir en Hongrie sur les bord du lac Balaton. Ces trois premieres étapes seront tres importantes en kilometres.
Nous souhaitons ensuite faires des étapes de 500Kms/jours a modeler suivant les visites et l'etat des routes.
Nous traverserons la Roumanie et un correspondant de ce site a voir, nous repartirons pour la bulgarie et enfin Istanbul.
à istanbul j'aimerait faire des photos de soir sur les toits afin de voir les mosquées et ste sophie sur un soleil tombant et l'agitaion de la ville c'est possible , facile?
Nous aimerions faire un carnet de route sur internet de notre voyage avec de belles photos.
Ensuite nous partirons soit sur un bout de route en Turquie jusqu'au detroit des dardanelles , soit nous irosn en grece , je regarde ton itineraire "moyen" et le presente au autres compére.

Pour un jour une nuit sur Istanbul;Nous pensons dormir à l'hotel pres du centre "touristique " est ce le mieux? (rapport qualité prix?) Nous sommes des "routards", nous recherchons pas des 3 étoiles "norme francaise"...mais douche et bon lit (lol)

Le seul parking fermé que je connais et je crois bien qu'il est le seul dans le quartier de Sultanahmet ( quartier ancien où sont groupés la plupart des monuments historiques ) se trouve dans l'endroit qui s'appelle Agirkapi. C'est, quand vous descendez de la St. Sophie vers la mer par une petite ruelle en pavé qui longe les murs du palais de Topkapi. Il est grand, propre et y a des gardiens de sécurité. Le tarif, j'en ai aucune idée mais je sais que le tarif générale d'un abonement mensuel pour une moto dans un parking fermé varie entre 25 et 30 €.
Il existe beacoup de pensions et d'auberges ou de petits hotels dans ce quartier.
Sinon pour faire des photos, vous n'etez pas forcement obligés de monter sur des toits. Il ya plein de bars / restos à Istanbul disposés de terrasses hautes qui permettent de bien contempler la ville.

Tout d'abord merci! Notre voyage c'est bien passé nous avons atteint Istanbul qui restera dans ma mémoire.
Mais voici notre perible, bergerac, briancon, Slovenie, le lac balaton , Budapest, oradea puis un bivouac dans la campagne roumaine, non dracula n'existe pas .. c'etait la pleine lune ce soir là.
Chemin off road, boue et gué...
Sebes, la route 7c impressionante.Bucarest , un bivouac en compagnie d'hirondelle et de guepiers, la Bulgarie et ses plages et ses routes.. La Turquie : istanbul.la grece et notre route barrée par les militaires, domage nous ne verrons pas les rhodopes.
es météores, l'albanie sauvage (le grenel de l'environnement est encore loin...)le
Montenegro et ses contrastes, , la Croatie... la belle.
Les motos ont étaient batisée , nis de Grosse poule , piste et autre piege routier (lol(( a istanbul elle sont resté dehors, ras. partout du bonheur, nous avons revé eveillés. l'années prochaine.... le mont Ararat. mais la prépa c'est pour cette hivers enfin patience.. je vous prépare un vrai conte rendu sur mon site.

je profite de ce message où vous parliez du détroit de Dardanelles.
Pouvez vous m'aider car j'aimerais après Ephèse visiter Pergame (peut on visiter seule ce lieu avec l'acropole compris sans avoir besoin de tour opérateur)?
Après la visite du site de Pergame me diriger sur Istanbul.
Quelle ligne de bus emprunter pour aller à Cannakkale, prendre le ferry du détroit de Dardanelles, puis un bus de Eceabat à Istanbul si j'ai bien compris il faut deux bus un avant et un après le ferry (j'ai consulté Cannakale Truva ou Métri turzim mais je n'ai pas le détail des stations je n'arrive pas à me réperer).
Par la même occasion savez vous le trajet pour faire Bodrum/Selcuk souvent il faut faire des changements et sur les sites des bus turques pour demander les horaires il faut connaitre la ligne et rechercher avec les arrêts intermédiaires.
Je ne sais pas si tu reçois toujours les mails de voyageforum. Ton voyage en Turquie date de trois ans et je me demande si tu fais toujours partie du groupe des motards en vadrouille.
Je vais rentrer du Liban en France en moto en juillet 2014. Je cherche des hôtels sur la route et je me demandais si tu avais un bon plan pour Istambul ou ailleurs sur ta route ( Slovenie, le lac balaton , Budapest...)

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

I’m Paul, 37, and I’ve already done a bit of riding in Morocco.
For now, I’m solo, riding a 1998 SUZUKI DR 650 with some basic gear to keep things smooth. I’ll have a tent so we can do a few nights under the stars.

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Next October we’re planning to ride the Ruta de la Plata by motorcycle—a historic Spanish route that runs from Gijón to Seville, also known as the N630.
Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
