Après plusieurs voyages en Europe, France, Italie, Corse, Portugal, etc... où j'au eu à louer des véhicules pour des périodes variant de 3 semaines à 2 mois, je m'apprête à passer une partie de l'hiver en Espagne (3 mois), cependant, il semble, après lecture de multiples commentaires négatifs et très peu de positifs, au sujet de la location de voitures, plus spécifiquement(Pire) en Espagne , que plusieurs personnes se sont fait arnaquer ou tentatives répéter d'arnaques de la part de la majorité des loueurs comme Hertz entre autres et plusieurs autres. Ayant vécus à chacune de mes locations antérieures des expériences stress, antes allant du problème mineur (Délai d'attente exagéré lors la prise de possession) jusqu'à d'autres plutôt cauchemardesques (Pas d'autos, loués à un autre car avion en retard, etc...) en passant par les charges non -autorisées sur ma carte de crédit et les "offres" sous pression d'assurances diverses! Y a t'il quelqu'un quelque part qui a eu une expérience "agréable" de location en Espagne??? Pouvez-vous m'aider à y voir plus clair? J'hésite à réserver mon voyage car je dois faire 2 contrats distincts de location à cause de la période trop longue (85 jours total) Ça remets en question notre voyage!!! Vous vous enregistrez à un programme fidélité comme Gold chez Hertz ou Prefered chez Avis et vous effectuez votre réservation directement sur le site du loueur (Sans intermédiaire). C'est vous qui choisissez le type de véhicule et le type de prestations.
Ensuite il suffit de refuser toute prestation complémentaire...
Pour le véhicule indisponible, cela ne devrait pas arriver vu que Hertz ou Avis vous indique quel véhicule vous est attribué avant il me semble.
Pour ce qui est des retards de prise du véhicule... Je pense que ça arrive partout dans le monde et pas seulement en Europe. 😉
Ayant loué, depuis de nombreuses années des véhicules en Espagne, je me permets d'apporter ma réponse à votre préoccupation par une réponse brève.
La plupart (il y a naturellement des exceptions) des plaintes viennent de personnes qui cherchent à payer le moins cher et avoir le meilleur service. Ces éléments ne sont pas compatibles.
Il vous faut, c'est ce que j'ai toujours fait, louer chez un loueur de qualité, une marque connue en Espagne ou internationalement. Eviter la petite société espagnole qui peut vous voir comme une pompe à fric. Et surtout bien lire les conditions de location avant de souscrire et de partir.
Passer par un broker est un moyen d'avoir moins cher et relativement sûr, une fois encore, à condition de choisir un loueur de qualité. Ce forum est plein de "réclamations" de personnes grugées notamment en Espagne. Prenez le temps de le parcourir, car je ne me sens pas de vous indiquer le nom de ces sociétés, on ne sait jamais...
Voila donc les règles que je respecte depuis des dizaines d'années sans aucun problème pas plus en Espagne qu'en Nouvelle Zélande, Etats Unis, Canada ou ailleurs..
En passant Usafan, toi qui est un habitué, quand est-il des assurances vis-à-vis des tiers (Autrui) si je frappe un piéton ou un cycliste? Comment s'appelle cette assurance complémentaire en Europe? J'ai simulé une réservation chez Hertz avec carte Gold et je ne l'ai pas vue ! aussi, est-ce avec kilométrage illimité...ça non plus...aucune mention? J'en ai peut-être manqué un bout! Pour l'assurance concernant les thiers ce n'est pas comme aux USA par exemple car le service des soins en europe est bien plus efficace, souvent gratuit.
Ce que tu recherche s'appelle la "responsabilité civile" et c'est compris dans les contrats d'assurance des véhicules si tu réserve directement chez le loueur.

Allo Usafan, est-ce que tu connais une compagnie de location à Estepona qui s'appelle Autos Luna, entre Marbella et Estepona? Une dame qui travaille au resort (Appartement ou je dois habiter) me l'a recommandé! J'hésite car c'est une petite entreprise "locale" et je n'ai pas vraiment de référence sauf cette dame...qui me semble des plus honnêtes...mais je suis toujours un peu "suspicieux" et j'aime faire affaires avec des cies internationales? Je suis moi même en pleine recherches et réflexion pour la location d'une voiture en Espagne pour un mois. Sur le forum, on m'avait donné le nom de MALAGA CAR, directement à l'aéroport. Il y a la possibilité de 3 prix, selon le type d'assurance que nous prenons : de base, intermédiaire et full pack. La dernière option mentionne que vous êtes traités comme un client prioritaire, le kilométrage est illimité, option d'un 2ieme chauffeur, entre autres. Perso, comme je n'y connais pas grand chose, j'aurais tendance à choisir le full pack. On peut réserver sans carte de crédit.

Allo Francy 14999, j'ai finalement décidé de choisir Hertz à l'aéroport de Malaga et ce, malgré les mauvais commentaires enregistrés sur le forum et sur trip advisor. Je vais vivre avec les conséquences si conséquences il y a! J'ai réservé avec eux directement sur leur site internet et je n'ai pas leurs d'assurances, donc ne serai pas traité en "priorité" (???), car, avec ma carte de crédit, je suis couvert pour vol, vandalisme et collision et, pour ce qui est de l'assurance personnes, j'ai l'assurance Croix-Bleue. L'assurance responsabilité pour autrui est déjà incluse de base avec la location de véhicule en Europe. On souhaite quand même ne pas avoir à se servir de toutes ses assurances!

Bonsoir Serge! Ma réponse vient un peu tard puisque vous avez déjà loué, mais elle pourra peut-être servir à quelqu'un d'autre! Je suis revenue justement hier d'une "expérience agréable" de location en Espagne! 11jours pour 300 euros, sans aucune franchise, toutes les assurances incluses, dont bris de glace et chassis, kilométrage illimité chez Europcar MAIS pas directement (le même contrat valait plus du double), par l'intermédiaire du comparateur Carigami, qui lui-même renvoie à l'intermédiaire Sunnycar, qui est en fait celui qui prend en charge les assurances. J'ai pris la voiture à Valencia, je l'ai rendue à Madrid. J'ai attendu 15minutes à Valence, rien du tout à Madrid. La voiture était bien celle que j'avais réservée. Avant de louer, j'ai eu besoin d'une information, j'ai téléphoné à carigami, et j'ai reçu l'information de façon claire et aimable.
J'ai même eu une bonne surprise . la taxe "one way" prévue à 60euros, m'a ètè facturée 24!
Je recommande Carigami, et parmi leurs offres, celles de Sunnycar (après, selon les endroits Sunnycar travaille avec différents loueurs, pas forcément Europcar).

Avec Eurocar TT. Le coût sera un peu plus cher qu'en France parce que les autos viennent de la France. Et tu devras débourser un montant pour remettre l'auto à un autre endroit autre que la ville où tu as pris possesion de l'auto. En Espagne , j'ai utiliser achat/rachat à Barcelone.
Bonjour à toutes et à tous. Je tombe sur ce thread car à la base je cherchais à louer une voiture au Portugal pour la rendre en Espagne, mais cela parait trop compliqué et je peux me débrouiller autrement pour la partie portugaise. Et surtout beaucoup trop cher.
Par contre je vais donc louer une voiture depuis Séville pour 9 jours et la rendre à Valence.
Je vois beaucoup Hertz cité dans ces deux pages mais personne ne semble parler de Europcar, Sixt ou encore Avis ... ?
Car je vois chez eux que les 3 prix sont quasi alignés, à savoir entre 400€ et 440€ pour une location de 9 jours (VW POLO) avec prise et retour dans deux villes différentes.
Or je ne trouve pas cela hors de prix, pour avoir loué cette année une voiture 5 jours avec retour différent aux USA et 7 jours avec retour différent en Jordanie (Europcar), les deux prix étaient à chaque fois plus cher.
Est-ce qu'un loueur national espagnol (mettons le plus connu là-bas) proposerait un prix plus bas ou est-ce que ces trois agences internationales font l'affaire ?
Mon expérience pour Mai 2016, d'où l'intérêt de réserver bien à l'avance (6/7 mois), avec annulation gratuite:
- location voiture sur Internet/Carigami (ex locationdevoiture.fr ) départ/retour Malaga à 288€/16 jours (achetés début novembre 2015- loueur Budget/Avis). Modèle SEAT ibiza break TDI105. Consommation 5,3.L/100km, soit 80.L/85€ pour 1500km.

- location voiture sur Internet/Carigami (ex locationdevoiture.fr ) départ Palerme aéroport/retour Trapani aéroport à 366€/12 jours- One Way à 79€ en sus (achetés mi-septembre 2016- loueur Hertz/Car del Mar *pour info 470€ en mi-février). Modèle Captur DCI.90 de Renault (presque neuf- 4000km- suspension un peu sèche à l’arrière). Consommation 5,4.L/100km, soit 74.L/106€ de gasoil pour 1360km.
Pour comparer les prix, mieux vaut chercher un comparateur proposant des loueurs offrant le même produit. Voyez un "broker" genre Carigami ou un autre.
Chez Carigami, cochez la case "loueurs les mieux notés" (qui n'est pas, selon moi, toujours objective...) et vous aurez un choix de loueurs parmi lesquels, les plus grandes signatures du milieu, noms que vous connaissez bien sûr. A vous de choisir ensuite.
Notez que les drop off fees peuvent être importants en Espagne.
Il n'y a guère de loueurs espagnols, le marché étant dans les mains des plus grandes signatures "mondiales".
Concernant Hertz, j'ai loué il y a quelques semaines à Valence (Espagne) et c'est eux qui, via un broker, étaient les moins disants. Service parfait. C'est la première fois depuis fort longtemps que je loue chez eux et c'était vraiment bien sur tous les plans. Comme quoi...

Je tombe sur pas mal d'autres sociétés que celles que j'ai cité hier : Rhodium, Cars & Camper, Drive FTI, Gold Car.
On m'a fortement déconseillé Gold Car, alors que Drive FTI offre en effet une proposition très similaire à ce que j'ai trouvé sur les autres : VW Polo avec zéro franchise, pas de frais d'aller simple, pour 283€ (même devis = Séville / Valence 9 jours).
Du coup c'est en effet moins cher que ce que j'ai pu voir sur Avis et Europcar par exemple. Je vais affiner.
Au passage, je vois beaucoup de personnes se plaindre du problème lié au carburant : par expérience chez Europcar il se trouve qu'en Jordanie (mais comme c'est Europcar j’imagine que c'est partout) l'employé avait une fiche avec la maquette de la voiture pour noter les points amochés ou non, mais surtout une jauge et il barre le trait auquel est la voiture quand on la prends. L'autre solution est aussi de prendre une photo avec son téléphone au moment où vous démarrez à la location.
Il y a des années que je loue, en moyenne une auto par mois sur un an par exemple. Selon les tarifs, je loue chez le comparateur (Carigami) ou chez les brokers (Drive FTI, CardelMar, Sunny Cars et autres AutoEurope). Je n'ai jamais eu quelque problème que ce soit avec aucun de ces brokers.
J'ajoute à Goldcar, la société AutoEscape qui ne semble pas avoir bonne presse ainsi que Firefly.
Comme je loue via broker mais chez les signatures de premier ordre, je ne suis pas qualifié pour donner crédit à ce qui est écrit dans les forums par les autres.
Voyez les commentaires sur le VF onglet Espagne, vous serez édifié.
A part l'exception Hertz Valence où j'ai peut être eu de la chance, je loue habituellement chez Enterprise que je connais depuis vingt ans (USA) qui offre de bonnes prestations pour des prix compétitifs.
Enfin, il ne faut pas chercher les prix les plus bas car généralement le loup n'est pas loin. Ou bien c'est une histoire de carte de crédit qui s'avère être de débit, ou bien c'est la rayure au retour, etc..
Habituellement, une bonne signature de réputation mondiale évite les tracas sinon les tarifs du "petit loueur sympa" pas cher et à la fin s'avèrera bien coûteux.

Comme écrit plus haut dans ce post, j'ai loué 11 jours de Valence à Madrid pour 288euros, sans franchise, et finalement sans frais pour avoir rendu la voiture à Madrid (on m'avait annoncé 60 euros...). C'était une polo 4 portes, louée à travers de Carigami et Sunnycar à Europcar. Aucune attente, ni pour retirer la voiture, ni pour la rendre, les deux fois à l'aéroport.
Les prix en direct étaient beaucoup plus chers si on tient compte de l'assurance tous risques. Et avantage : annulation gratuite jusqu'à 6 heures avant la date.

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
We’re a group of 4 heading out at the end of June for 11 days.
I’m just starting my research.
We’ll be renting a regular car, not a 4x4.
