I see you're a group of 3 for this project.
I spent a month in southern China back in 2019. I traveled solo with my backpack and met two French women along the way, and we journeyed together for a bit. So I explored part of Yunnan, from Kunming up to Lijiang in the north and the Yuanyang rice terraces in the south near the Vietnam border. It’s stunning!
China is a country 20 times the size of France, with 20 times the population, where an average city has 1 million people.
First thing—renting a car in China seems like an impossible mission, even if it’s allowed. Personally, I wouldn’t feel comfortable driving there. A metro ticket from the airport to downtown Kunming costs 1 €! For getting around the city, tickets range from 20 to 40 cents. Public transport is super developed and easy to use.
As for the weather, November is a great month—dry season. In a month, I only had one afternoon of light rain. Kunming is at 24° north latitude, which is like southern Morocco, so the weather’s pleasant. When you head toward Lijiang or Yuanyang, it gets a bit chilly at night, but it’s fine during the day.
That said, I think two weeks in China is a shame. The flight ticket costs the same for four weeks, and life there isn’t expensive.
Bonus this year: no visas needed!

I went in November (Xishuangbanna and Yunnan) a while back. In Xishuangbanna, the weather was really nice, but I remember it being quite chilly and overcast in Kunming.
Hi there, it was an amazing trip, but renting a car is something to think about.
We traveled there for 7 months and driving was impossible. My husband tried to get the permit—total nightmare—and after 2 weeks of tests, the big boss told him... "If you were Belgian, you’d have the permit, but since you’re Swiss, no way."
I was relieved because they drove like crazy. But that was 12 years ago.
Things have certainly changed, but the trains are great and the buses work really well.

We spent 7 fabulous months there without a car. My husband wanted to get his license, wasted several days, took the test in French—100 questions, failed. It was old-fashioned French.
The next day, he was able to retake it in German, same thing, and that’s his native language—questions were incomprehensible.
The big boss told him: "If you were Belgian, you would’ve passed, but not as a Swiss." The translator didn’t understand anything either.
Buses and trains were great though.

Hi! I was in Yunnan between November 5th and 20th—the temperatures were great. I also went to Jianshui, Yuanyang, Yangshuo, and Guilin, but not Sangri-La. It was all amazing by bus and train. Have a great trip!

I was there for 6 weeks in October–November 2025. It’s a shame to only go for 2 weeks if you can do otherwise. There’s no need to rent a car—trains and buses are comfortable and affordable, not to mention Didi, the local ride-hailing service.
The Lonely Planet guide is really well done—everything is easy. A VPN like LetVPN costs 6 € a month, and a SIM from China Mobile is 12 € a month. Happy planning, and wishing you a wonderful trip! This was my third trip to China, and it won’t be my last.

My best memory: a restaurant that was also a cooking school. There was a small group of us from different nationalities, and we’d go there to eat in the evenings. We’d each order two dishes (different ones) because we never knew what we’d get on our plates, then we’d share everything with a local beer.
It was so good! And dirt cheap! 😄
We didn’t pay with a phone or card but in Renminbi (RMB), and the owner would tally up the bill with an abacus!

It’s spitting distance, but that’s about it since it’s officially banned. I went there for the first time 15 years ago and last time in 2025—really surprised by all the electric vehicles.
I just love how easy it is to feel like you’re somewhere completely different.
It was frowned upon, but nothing more since it’s officially forbidden.
On TV, you could follow driving instructions like not spitting, not getting drunk, not littering... No need to know Chinese to understand.
After spending a day in a police station and paying a fine for unknowingly entering a "forbidden district," China didn’t leave me with only good memories...
Back then, the Chinese didn’t travel much; I can only imagine how things must have changed now, with crowds of tourists (generally not very respectful) rushing to the "attractions"... It doesn’t really tempt me, but I get why some people might like it.

L’idée : jeudi → lundi, 4 nuits, soleil, plage, apéros et surtout grosses soirées.
Les dates ne sont pas encore fixées, donc on pourra choisir ensemble une période qui arrange tout le monde. Chacun vient de sa ville et on se retrouve directement à Lloret.
Le but : profiter à fond, plage l’après-midi, apéro, bien manger et sortir le soir dans les pubs, bars et boîtes.

Pas besoin d’être déjà un groupe : l’idée est justement de faire connaissance tranquillement avant de réserver et de voir si on a la même vision des vacances.
Je prépare mon 6e voyage à vélo. Après avoir traversé la France, l’Espagne et le Portugal, ma dernière étape m’a amené à Fès.
En novembre je repars pour environ 1000 km à travers Forêt Atlas et Désert.

I’ll be arriving in Indonesia in early December in Jakarta, and I’ve planned a loop to Yogyakarta (Borobudur and Prambanan), then the Bromo and Kawah Ijen volcanoes, before returning to Jakarta—all over about ten days (at a relaxed pace).
The start date isn’t set in stone, but I absolutely must be back in Jakarta by the 15th at the latest (flight to Sorong on the 16th at 00:30).
Here’s the idea: to share this trip or part of it with one or more easygoing, friendly people, to split the transport costs to the volcanoes and share the treks.
I’m 58, used to traveling solo and sharing parts of trips with people I meet along the way. I’m cheerful and open, enjoy conversations but not unnecessary drama! 😎

I’m heading to China for the first time on October 10th (after Golden Week, so it should be quieter). I’ll be coming from Hanoi (Vietnam), where I’ll be from September 3rd, and I’ll fly to Kunming on October 10th.
I’ve planned a route starting in Kunming (4 nights), then Guilin (4 nights), Chongqing (3 nights), Zhangjiajie (4 nights), Chengdu (3 nights), Xi’An (3 nights), Beijing (3 nights), and finally Shanghai (3 nights), with my departure set for November 6th to the Philippines (flight not booked yet).
The durations are flexible and should give me enough time to enjoy each place. The schedule is adjustable if needed, and I’ve left a 2-day buffer for the 30-day visa exemption.
All connections are planned by high-speed train (not booked yet), with travel times maxing out at 5 hours on the fastest trains.
I usually travel solo, but I’m open to some company—someone easygoing and cheerful—and for practical reasons, to split costs on a few excursions, like Dongchuan (the Red Lands), which is easier with a private car.
So, if this itinerary or part of it interests you, I’d love to hear from you!
PS: I’m new to China and its cashless world, so there might be a few lonely moments while I get Alipay, WeChat, and Didi fully set up… 😉

No big treks or long hikes, though we could arrange a day or two if we feel like it.
The itinerary will be planned together without setting anything in stone, so we can stay flexible and follow our moods without wondering every morning what we’ll do that day.
Looking for clean accommodations like guesthouses, with private bathrooms, and fans rather than AC.
Shared rooms are an option.

I’m planning a trip to Brazil at the end of the year. I’ll arrive in São Paulo, but I don’t have a precise itinerary yet. I’ve already visited Iguazu from the Paraguayan side.

We’re currently three retirees (one man and a couple) looking for one or two people to join us on a road trip through Patagonia by car.
Starting from Concepción in Chile, we’ll head to San Carlos de Bariloche (a possible meet-up point) in Argentina to reach Cabo Vírgenes. Then we’ll return via Route 40, with detours on the Chilean side (Torres del Paine, Lake General Carrera, Coyhaique).
We’ll pass by the Perito Moreno Glacier, Laguna del Desierto, Perito Moreno Park at the foot of San Lorenzo, Jeinemeni Park, Los Alerces Park, and more. A few hikes are planned.
Dates: November 6 to December 15, from Concepción back to Concepción.
I’ve already visited Southern India. Next up is Northern India for 2 months, from Gujarat all the way to Delhi, passing through Madhya Pradesh, Kolkata, Bengal, Bihar, Punjab, and Rajasthan. My itinerary is still in the works.
