Hi everyone, I often travel solo, and even though I love it, I also like the idea of traveling with someone and not just "meeting people on the spot"... I’ve already tried Facebook groups or forums, but people rarely follow through with travel plans... and I find some really lack seriousness! Do you know any other alternatives for finding travel companions? Little detail: I’m definitely not into group tours or organized trips... ^^ Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Hi Charlotte, Personally, I’ve found travel companions on this site and also on compagnondevoyage.net several times. Best regards

Hi Patricia, thanks so much for your reply!

Did it take you a while to find people who were serious and more or less shared the same expectations as you?

Hi there! I totally agree that it’s not always easy to find serious people... I tried this site once: https://compagnon-de-voyage.net/. It was a bit tough to find someone—it was mostly men, so it was a bit of a hassle—but once I found the right person, we hit it off, and it went well. It was just a short trip in France, so not too risky 😛 In addition to that one, I can also suggest this site: https://www.kajja.fr/. I don’t have any feedback for you yet, though, because it’s not open yet—I just pre-registered. The system seems different from the first one; there’s no profile to create—it’s based on a personality questionnaire. Hope this helps!

Not at all. On VF, I met several people who are now friends. Since VF was closed for several years, I signed up on Compagnons de Voyage. Last year (in April), I immediately found someone to go on a safari with in December. And in September, I found another person to travel to Uzbekistan in April. I forgot to mention Le Routard, which is also great. I think you just need to post a clear ad: destination, approximate dates, age, what kind of trip... Good luck! Patricia

Hi Charlotte, For my part, I’ve occasionally found someone to travel with, but if I were to do it again, I’d spend a short weekend with them first and be clearer about the vibe I’m looking for—my way of traveling, connecting, and enjoying downtime or transitions... There’s also a great site from the "carnet d'aventure" store: expemag.com How’s your search going? Karl

Hi! Thanks so much for your message. I just took a look at Expémag and their "compagnons d'aventures" forum! The profiles seem mostly focused on hiking/backpacking, which isn’t really my thing... ^^ but I’ll keep browsing anyway!

So far, I’ve checked out several travel forums and groups as suggested, but I haven’t found any travel companions yet! I’m also thinking of signing up on the Kajja platform that was mentioned. It just launched! We’ll see how it goes, but I’m not in a rush :)

Thanks anyway!

I just checked out Kajja. First thing—paying! !

Hi, Yes, it is paid! I had pre-registered before the launch and wanted to see what it was like by signing up for real last Tuesday. Well, I'm very happy—I was connected with a fellow traveler on Friday. It was quick, and they really understood what I was looking for. I got follow-ups: when they received my questionnaire, during the search, and as soon as they found someone for me. So personally, based on my experience, even though the service is paid, I recommend it! :-)
