There are rumors going around about the ETA: it must absolutely be on your smartphone in the "ETA" app.

Paper documents might not be accepted. Is this real or just a hoax? Thanks, I’m leaving in 3 weeks. My passport is good to go and my ETA is still valid for a year, but I only printed the email I received. Thanks everyone.

I applied for a visa to go to Great Britain soon (May, Manchester) via the official app on February 22.

I haven’t received any response yet... normally the processing time is 3 days... and there’s no way to contact them (unless you pay).

Has anyone already applied through this app? If so, how long did it take to get a response?

Hi everyone! We’re planning a trip to Belgium, but I’m a bit confused about the LEZs! My car is new (purchased July 2025), hybrid petrol, and the registration certificate says Euro 6. Normally, I shouldn’t need to register for the LEZs in Ghent, Antwerp, or Brussels, right? But do I still need to register as a vehicle coming from France? Thanks for clarifying!

Hi everyone. I might sound silly to some, but I don’t care. I live in the Paris region and I’m driving to Switzerland this summer. The thing is, I’m really struggling to understand what I need to do. I’ve read that I have to declare what I’m bringing (GPS, tablet, watch, phone, etc.). Is that true, and what’s the point? How does crossing the border by car work? Is it normally hassle-free, like passing through a toll in France? I have an expired ID card that’s been extended by the state, and I’ve printed the official government document explaining that Switzerland accepts it (just in case).

On the way back to France, we’d like to bring back some chocolate, maybe a little alcohol, some local biscuit boxes, and nothing more. Maybe one or two T-shirts from there, but no cigarettes, no devices, etc. Are there quantity limits? Since it’s just my wife and me, do we need to stop at the border when entering France?

Again, sorry for the basic questions, but we’re really confused, and when I ask customs, they just send me pages to read. So thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer each of my questions.

I’m planning to apply for my UK ETA soon and I’d like to know if I need to have a digital ID photo ready already or if the British government’s app takes a photo of us.

I read that the app will ask us to scan our face and take a photo, but on the official site, they just say to have a digital photo available.

So to avoid paying a photographer for nothing, has anyone already applied for their ETA using the app?

I have the transfer documents, insurance in my name, and all the supporting paperwork, but not the registration document. I read on another forum that there might be an issue with insurance for our vehicles in the Faroe Islands.

Apparently, we wouldn’t be covered once we disembark from the ferry. From what I understand, the DK on our green card no longer applies to the Faroe Islands.

Could anyone confirm this?

Hi there. I’m reaching out to ask for your advice about travel insurance for my trip.

I bought Eurostar tickets back in January, but I forgot to take out travel insurance right away.

I’d like to get multi-risk travel insurance now, but most insurers say you have to sign up within 48 to 72 hours after buying your transport tickets.

Do you know of any insurance that doesn’t have this deadline and lets you sign up even months after buying your tickets?

The Netherlands is one of the countries that hasn’t officially taken a position on accepting French ID cards with extended validity (+5 years). However, it seems to be tolerated, and it’s recommended to carry the explanatory notice about the law that extended the validity of ID cards—especially in case of a police check during your stay in the Netherlands. The main concern seems to be about legal status in the country. Air France (apparently) indicates that boarding is possible. Has anyone had experience traveling by plane under these conditions, and can someone confirm whether it’s possible to visit the Netherlands (by plane with Air France) with an expired French ID card (based on the date printed on it) but with validity extended by 5 years? It’s hard to get a definitive answer, which is why I’m asking fellow travelers for their experiences :) Thanks in advance for your feedback! Audrey

Hi, We're heading to Germany in August. Finally, after all this time I wanted to go back to Germany :) I think I need an eco sticker for my car, but I'm not sure. I found this info: "Since June 1, 2022, it’s no longer necessary to buy the German eco sticker to drive in Freiburg-im-Breisgau’s Umweltzonen (low-emission zones). The Crit'Air sticker, rated from 0 to 3, is recognized by the authorities." Could you tell me the name of the website where I can find this info, please? We’ll be staying in Brigachtal (Baden-Württemberg). We’ll visit Friedrichshafen, Triberg, and Hohenzollern Castle.

Back in the good old days when the UK was part of the European Union, a European ID card was all you needed to visit. After Brexit, a passport became required. Now, on top of that, you’ll also have to pay (£10) for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation):

Eligible Europeans can start applying for this ETA from March 5, 2025, and it will be mandatory for travel from April 2, 2025.

N'ayant pas pu voyager cette année comme beaucoup, nous envisageons de repartir en Ecosse. Depuis notre dernier road-trip, le Brexit est passé et je suis un peu paumée concernant les papiers d'identité. Je dois refaire les CNI de toute la famille, mais j'ai lu qu'à partir du 1er janvier 2021, les Français auront besoin de passeports pour voyager au RU, est-ce que cette information est officielle? Je trouve de sons de cloche...

De plus, qu'en est-il des cartes européennes de sécurité sociale? Je suppose que nous ne sommes plus couvert vu que le RU est sorti de l'Europe?

Bonjour, mon conjoint a perdu sa carte de résident au mois de mai 2020(se périme le 5 septembre 2020) il a donc fait une déclaration de perte. L'administration nous a proposé de faire un duplicata mais sachant que il ne reste que quelques semaines et que le coût est onéreux 278e nous l'avons pas fait. Nous avons donc pris rdv à la sous préfecture qui nous donne seulement rdv le 16 septembre donc aprés péremption de sa carte. Il n'y a pas de rdv avant dû à la crise sanitaire. Il a donc la copie de sa carte de résident ainsi que la déclaration de perte et un passeport algérien périmé. Nous devons voyager dans quelques jours en espagne avec nos enfants nés en France et ayant leurs passeports valides. Moi je suis française et ma CI est valable.

Mes questions sont comment faire pour prendre l'avion? Peut il être considéré comme accompagnateur vu que nos enfants sont mineurs? Quelles sont les démarches à faire pour prendre l'avion A-R? Aurait il besoin d'un récipissé?

J'ai effectué un voyage en voiture de location de 9 jours en Italie (Milan - Verone - Florence - Rome) en septembre dernier et aujourd'hui, à ma grande surprise, je reçois un courrier d'AVIS contenant : une facure de 11€ pour frais administratifs une copie d'une contravention de 79€ envoyé par le commissariat de Veronne à AVIS concernant le véhicule que j'ai loué. Elle a eu lieu le 05 septembre à Verone car j'ai circulé (ou stationné) dans une zone "interdite" (je me suis fait traduire le courrier par un collègue). Il est indiqué en italien et en anglais que je ne dois rien payer, que la police m'enverra l'amende.

Donc pour résumer (c'est pas forcément clair), je pense que j'ai eu une amende (apparemment en Italie ils ne mettent pas de PVs), qu'ils l'ont envoyé chez AVIS, ces derniers leur ont communiqués mes coordonnées et m'ont facturés les fameux 11€ de frais.

Mes questions sont les suivantes : vais-je recevoir une amende ? comment devrai-je la payer ? vais-je avoir une majoration (car il y est indiqué que j'ai 60 jours pour payer) ? et si je la paye pas ? les 79€ sont-ils démesurés ?

Bref, je suis un peu largué ... donc merci par avance si vous pouvez me renseigner (et me donner d'autres infos si vous avez eu le même cas) !

Bonjour, Nous partons en famille en Sardaigne dans 10 jours, et nous nous apercevons ce jour qu'une de nos filles venant d'avoir 18 ans a sa carte périmée depuis le 31 mai 2020. Nous partons avec AIR FRANCE de Roissy. Pouvez-vous nous dire si en ayant une attestation de demande de renouvellement et la CNI périmée, cela est possible de partir en vacances. La seule carte avec photo qu'elle a est sa carte vitale. On aura sur nous le livret de famille, s'il le faut. Nous vous remercions vivement de votre aide.

Je pars cette été en Tunisie avec ma voiture de fonction. Pour préciser la carte grise contient le nom du loueur professionnel donc est propriété de ce dernier.

Ce loueur m'a déjà donné une autorisation de sortie de territoire : Italie (je pars de Gênes le 03/08 / Tunisie)

Est ce qu'il me faut autre chose que ce document ? Au consultât personne ne sait rien... j'ai même appelé la douane tunisienne en Tunisie...nada...je vous assure...

Bonjour tout le monde, je viens poser ma question sur ce forum car j'ai vraiment du mal à trouver une réponse et le temps passant la situation m'inquiète. Voici ma question :

Je suis citoyen Français, j'ai longtemps travaillé aux État-Unis. Depuis l'épisode du COVID j'ai du rentrer en France. Ma conjointe est citoyenne Américaine, nous ne sommes ni pacsé ni marié. Nous souhaiterions qu'elle me rejoigne en France fin juillet.

Notre plan est : qu'elle rejoigne l'Espagne en avion, car l'Espagne sera ouvert pour le monde entier d'ici le 1er juillet, je partirai alors de France avec mon véhicule pour aller en Espagne la chercher (jusque là tout va bien étant donné que les frontières pour les citoyens EU seront ouvertes). La question est donc : Pensez-vous qu'il sera possible de la faire venir en France en traversant via l'Espagne ? Risque t'elle d'être refoulée à la frontière ? Quelle autre solution pour qu'elle puisse me rejoindre serait possible ?

J’ai un doute. Je sais qu’on peut voyager en Europe avec notre CNI française et qu’on peut rentrer en France de l’extérieur avec sa CNI française; mais j’ai un doute : si l’on vient de l’extérieur de l’Europe (Maroc par exemple), peut-on rentrer en Espagne par voie terrestre juste en présentant sa CNI française ou bien il faut un passeport?

La question n’est pas de savoir comment sortir du Maroc (même si c’est lié), mais comment entrer en Europe.

Bonsoir, mes parents doivent nous rejoindre a Tenerife du 25 juillet au 4 août pour des vacances, le problème est .. que leurs cartes d'identités sont périmés (depuis 2016 et 2018).

ils étaient évidemment majeures quand ils ont fait leur cartes d'idientés en 2006 et 2008.

ils vont voyager avec easyjet, je les ai contacté par téléphone, et ils me disent clairement qu’il ne pourront pas embarquer malgré ce document :

J'ai réservé pour la sardaigne cet été récemment. Il se trouve que pour entrer sur le territoire sarde il faut s'identifier sur l'application "sardegna sicura". Ils demandent le numéro de taxe fiscale. Savez-vous pourquoi ? De plus, étant encore étudiante, je suis encore rattachée à mes parenrs je n'ai donc aps de numéro à moi... Que faire?
