Other practical information for the Galápagos
Precautions
There are no risks in the archipelago, including health-related ones, except for basic precautions if you venture alone into nature in the few (rare) permitted areas.
Luggage and equipment to bring
Pack light clothing for all seasons, plus something warmer for evenings, as well as rain and sun protection. Bring binoculars for wildlife observation. Since prices are higher in the Galápagos than on the mainland, you might also consider buying some items before arriving.

Time difference
Local time: for the Galápagos.
In terms of "local time," the archipelago is separate from the mainland part of the country. The Galápagos are on GMT-6, meaning 7 hours behind France in winter and 8 hours behind in summer. The rest of Ecuador is on GMT-5, which is one hour ahead of the Galápagos.
Electricity
120 V (60 Hz), like the rest of the country, with "American" plugs (officially types A and B), so you’ll need an adapter for French plugs.
Opening hours

French language use
When it comes to foreign languages spoken in the archipelago, English dominates as usual, while French is almost unheard of. In short, it’s best to have at least a basic grasp of Spanish, or English as a backup.
