UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Haiti has one site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list:

Parc national historique, Haïti
Historic National Park (1982)
About twelve kilometres from Cap-Haïtien, the town of Milot is home to the historic national park, which comprises the impressive ruins of the Sans Souci Palace and the Citadelle La Ferrière, both UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Cities and Cultural Heritage

Cap-Haïtien, Haïti
Cap-Haïtien
On the Atlantic coast and not far from the Dominican border, the country's second-largest city is worth visiting for its old French architecture, but above all for the beautiful nearby beaches and the historic national park just a few kilometres away.
Fort-Liberté
A small town near Santo Domingo, Fort-Liberté still has remnants of its past, including several 18th-century forts in varying states of preservation.
Gonaïves
It is the third-largest urban area in Haiti and the birthplace of Independence. A beautiful cathedral and several Vodou sites and sanctuaries can be found in the surrounding area.
Île à vache, Haïti
Cow Island
This pretty little island off the southern coast is becoming a tourist and beach destination.
Île de la Tortue, Haïti
Tortuga Island
This former pirate haven boasts magnificent beaches and beautiful landscapes.
Jacmel
A quiet town on the Caribbean coast with a charming old centre that suffered in the 2010 earthquake. It's considered the country's artistic and cultural capital and also hosts a lively carnival.
Jérémie
A small town at the tip of the southern peninsula, quite isolated from the rest of the country, which gives it a certain "charm".
La Gonâve
Located in the Gulf of Gonâve, this large island with a population of around 100,000 has long been neglected by the authorities. It is the poorest and most deprived part of the country, with no tourist attractions.
Labadie
The beautiful beach near Cap-Haïtien has been privatized by several cruise companies. Beaches, swimming, diving, and more for cruise passengers in a secure environment for the occasion.
Les Cayes
This is the main port on the southern coast and the departure point for Île-à-Vache. Several beaches and water activities are available in the surrounding area.

Pétionville
This is the upscale (and safe) suburb of the capital (Port-au-Prince), located on its heights. It’s packed with bars, restaurants, hotels, and the nightlife hub of the metropolitan area.
Port-au-Prince
Despite its few museums and galleries, the Haitian capital, which suffered greatly from the 2010 earthquake, is primarily a transit point for many visitors.
Port-Salut, Haïti
Port-Salut
A quiet small town on the southern peninsula, known for its beaches. This is where former president Aristide was born.

Natural Heritage

Macaya National Park
This is one of Haiti’s two national parks. It is a forested and mountainous area in the southern tip, known for its birds and plants.
