The most beautiful mountain hikes in France?

Thanks in advance for your help.

A few less crowded routes: * The Vallon de Réfréi to the east of Tende (06) to climb up to the Col de Tende and reach the Italian Marguareis Natural Park

* The Lignin lakes (04), accessible from Méailles or Thorame station via Peyresq, then descending toward Allos. The last time I went that way, I wondered if I’d make it out alive because of the violent storms. * The Cheval-Blanc mountain, Haute-Bléone (04) * The Monges massif starting from Barles (04) Or starting from Sisteron via the Vanson Valley

😎 Now that’s a real flash!!! ....Beaufortain isn’t in Haute-Savoie ...😉😏

Beaufortain is in Savoie, and the Beaufortain massif straddles the two departments, if I’m to believe the various dedicated sites 🤪

Jerome, you started this discussion—have you done any hikes yet, or are you still planning them?

It's true that the Queyras is stunning!

A fantastic hike starting from Ceillac: the Miroir and Saint Anne lakes, then push on to the Girardin Pass for an amazing view!

From the "Roche Écrouée" parking lot, head to Lake Lestio for another incredible hike at the foot of Mont Viso: https://www.visorando.com/randonnee-le-lac-lestio-par-le-belvedere-du-viso/

Hi, In their last post, they mentioned a "trip" in September, and I see they haven’t logged in since the 3rd. Maybe they’re hiking right now 😛. We’ll find out where soon—maybe in the Queyras 😏

You're right, but a post titled "The most beautiful mountain hikes in France?" can't just end like that! It's a goldmine for everyone ;)

Among the most beautiful hikes in France, there's no doubt La Réunion stands out. The GR R2 is a strong candidate for the best multi-day trekking route—I’d definitely vote for it.

Totally agree with you—I hope we get a little update! And if there are photos, even better! 😉

The Beaufortin Massif ends at the border of the Haute-Savoie department. After that, you could say the northern edge is on the limit of the Mont Blanc massif—roughly maybe 1% in Haute-Savoie and 99% in Savoie. It’s a bit tight to straddle both... Below is the Savoie department and the Beaufortin right next to Haute-Savoie.

Haha! Okay, thanks. Maybe we should send a correction to Wikipedia then ;)

I also love heading to the mountains—the Mont Blanc valley is stunning, but everywhere is so beautiful. I’m sharing a site I discovered nearly 10 years ago that still inspires me for day hikes.

Hi, I’m replying to myself and thanking the mods for reopening this forum. Here’s a photo taken in Vanoise Park.

The Ordesa Canyon is truly stunning and magnificent. The trail passes along one of the ledges visible below.

Hey Desman, thanks for the awesome photo. But isn’t this canyon straddling the French-Spanish border?
DE Desman Veteran ·
You're right, it's on the Spanish side. I overlooked the "in France" criterion, sorry about that. But the Pyrenees are a link rather than a border, right? 😉

Good evening, yes, I totally agree. It’s the same Occitan/Catalan culture on both sides of the border. How can I reach this mountain range? I rely on public transport.
