Well, I think stupidity is pretty evenly spread across all social classes.
Anyway, I went to check out the reference site, Fram...
They offer a horse-drawn carriage tour by night and a 4x4 ride on the Kik plateau (as well as Essaouira, the Ourika Valley, Ait Ben Haddou, and Ouzoud).
Neither Imlil nor the Agafay desert!

For Agafay, why not just do the camel ride at sunset with dinner and a show there?
Sure, it’s not the most authentic experience, but I think it’s perfect for what you’re looking for on this trip.
You just need to find the right provider to make sure the meal is good and the Berber music is too.
Given how many of you there are, you could negotiate directly with the camps in the area—especially since you’ve got your own transport.

Hi there,
I read everything and had a good laugh.
A few ideas: book Majorelle online (with a set time slot) to skip the long wait.
In Agafay, they won’t sell you something authentic—just a dream. It’s still nice, especially for first-time visitors to Morocco. Seriously. You’ll find quads, camels, caidal tents, pools… and the Atlas Mountains right in front of you.
For a dinner-show evening, head to Jad Mahaal. Or in the old medina, Palais Dar Essalem is stunning but very touristy and way too noisy for my taste.
Take a trip to Lake Lalla Takerskout. You’ll easily find a restaurant there.

That’s exactly what this forum is for!

Now *that’s* a real tip. I never would’ve thought it’d be so crowded…

Ta-da! Here’s my Agafay defender! Do you have a reliable address for the services?
For a dinner-show evening, go to Jad Mahaal. Or in the old medina, Palais Dar Essalem—gorgeous but very touristy and too noisy for my taste.
I’ll check out your addresses. Fantasia Ali restaurant looks *super* kitsch and I’m totally tempted by the show…
Take a trip to Lake Lalla Takerskout. You’ll easily find a restaurant there.
I’d spotted the Ouirgane Dam, but apparently, it’s not the best time. I’ll check out Takerskout.
Anyway, thanks so much for all the info—especially since your messages seem short and to the point, so double thanks.

Here’s a real tip. I never would’ve thought it’d be so crowded...
Even with the skip-the-line ticket, go at opening in the morning to enjoy the garden. Otherwise, it’s chaos Also, get a ticket for the Berber Museum extension. It’s small but really nice.

Well then... no one suggesting a visit to an argan oil cooperative???
More peaceful than the garden where there's nothing to see...
Okay, for me it's clear—I don't like crowds or cities, even the Moroccan desert, no way to be left alone, there's always some joker popping up out of nowhere...

In Marrakech? Combined with a visit to a saffron factory?
More seriously Bruno, have you thought about taking a horse-drawn carriage ride? You could, for example, take one to get to Majorelle from Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Speaking of which, I wonder how you’re planning to park your cars when you go into the medina. There are a few parking lots, but you need to know where they are—driving in Marrakech isn’t exactly straightforward.

Hi,
No address for Agafay because I explored the site in my own 4x4 without any organization.
Huge fan... but even more so of Fezzan or Murzuk (though that’s *much* farther away!). Still, I get the appeal—it’s easy to spend a day or an evening there. I’m sure your friends will love it. Isn’t that the whole point?

Wow... no one suggesting a visit to an argan oil cooperative???
If anyone's interested, I know one that produces organic argan oil not far from the Tichka Pass... The high-altitude argan trees allow them to make oil that's more extra-virgin than extra-virgin.
I really appreciate that they offer decent working conditions by not making the women work when there are no visitors.

Hi everyone, and thanks again for the enthusiasm on this thread—I’m racking up my 5-star Moroccan guide points! [;)]
Random thoughts, not in order:
- I’m not planning to use the car except for excursions. The villa offers a shuttle service into town (though I haven’t sorted out the details yet). I rented it for the week because it costs the same as 2 or 3 days, and it’ll keep things stress-free...
- The Argan Cooperative—with 8 ladies in the group, I’m all in! Seriously, I’d considered stopping there on the way to Essaouira for a break. If you’ve got a great tip, please share! I’ve got a morning set aside for "crafts" (tannery, pottery...), so go wild with suggestions!
- Agafay is on the itinerary; I just need to find the right provider. But I’m also counting on the villa manager to point me in the right direction.
- The horse-drawn carriage ride won’t be in the road book , but you never know—last-minute surprises might happen!! A little suspense and spontaneity won’t hurt
- Olivier, I’m not sure I’ll go all the way up there just for argan, but if you’ve got something closer, I’m in!

I have a "Crafts" morning planned (tannery, pottery, etc.), enjoy!
I think you can fit it into your visit to the medina. The artisan souks will meet the girls' expectations (and empty their wallets ;)) Options include: jewelry, leather, spices, carpets, fabrics, metalwork, marquetry... I’m not talking about the shopping streets around the Square, but the souks where most of these items are made. That’s the most interesting part of the medina.

So 4 girls + 4 guys + 3 girls = ? ELEVEN, Perju! And 7 girls + 4 guys makes how many? Eleven, Perju! Who said 8? WHO? You really need to stop doodling cutlery during class, Mr. Degrenne 😉 [;]
