Here's my vote since it's allowed for those who don't submit photos..

3 points for Thylassin's photo 3 and their photo of the Bayterek Tower in Nur-Sultan, the new name for the capital of Kazakhstan (formerly Astana). I visited this tower 15 years ago: the golden sphere at the top is that of a sacred bird’s egg, which lays a single egg each year in Kazakhstan, a symbol of the sun.

2 points for Rouquine 38's photo 3 for the superposition of two architectures.

1 point for Montagnard's photo 3 for the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar in Zaragoza at night.

Happy New Year to everyone! Carassou

Hello,

My votes:

3 points for photo No. 3 by Tylassin and its minimalist Sarzay castle-towers.

2 points for photo No. 3 by Muriel18 and that strange architectural church steeple in Labeaume.

1 point for photo No. 1 by xrctn and the Sky City Tower in Auckland, which for some reason reminded me of Liverpool’s.

So many towers around the world (I’d picked about 366 off the top of my head before stopping), and only 38 featured in the contest—including the same one three times (the minaret in Khiva).

Happy New Year!

After a laborious count, thank goodness there were only 13 voters! I’m terrible with numbers, and we find them in usernames, photo numbers, and point totals... I swear my New Year’s Eve was very subdued because of the flu, which made me cancel the evening I’d planned with friends! So I declare Rouquine 38 the winner for her photo 3 (16 points), ahead of Attila and his photo 1 (10 points), and Rouquine38 comes in 3rd place with her photo 1 (9 points). Thylassin in 4th place was just 1 point away from the podium. I wish all forum members a happy New Year with lots of amazing trips and stunning photos, and I’ll pass the baton to Isabelle for the January 2026 contest.

Thanks for your vote.

Astana was only Nur-Sultan for a short time. With the fall from grace of its former president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, it reverted back to Astana.
