Je pense que c'est le View qui attaque avec des prix bas pour piquer des clients au Gouldings, les prix monteront probablement ensuite.
J'ai eu une conversation à propos de Trip Advisor cette semaine avec qqun bossant dans le tourisme ( hotel en France ) et elle me disait que pour "les gens" un seul commentaire négatif détruisait 10 commentaires positif. Ce à quoi j'ai répondu que comme il était impossible de satisfaire tout le monde, qu'il y avait de toutes façons des "toujours mécontent" et qu'un client Russe et Japonais n'attendront pas la même chose d'une chambre d'hotel, pour moi c'était plus l'impression globale dégagé par la somme des commentaire qui importait
Je pourrais presque figurer sur ta liste puisque mon voyage aux US commence le 31 juillet en arrivant à ... Londres😉, grâce à l'Eurostar, d'où je prendrais mon vol direct pour Phoenix 😎
En effet, le prix du billet était largement moins onéreux en procédant de cette façon. Mais, comme j'ai eu peur d'un éventuel retard de l'Eurostar, on ne prendra notre vol pour les US que le lendemain de notre arrivée à Londres. On profitera donc de Londres (que je ne connais pas du tout) avant notre grand trip.
Les économies réalisées repartent (pas tout 😛) finalement dans le prix des billets de l'Eurostar, la nuit d'hôtel dans la City, les repas et animations là-bas (la grande roue) 🤪 mais pas de regret, c'est la petite aventure avant la grande.😉
Ainsi, pour le même prix auquel j'aurais eu mon billet en partant de Paris (avec escale obligatoire, pb éventuels de bagages et possibilité de rater correspondance pour cause de douane), j'ai un vol sans escale avec BA et la découverte de Londres sur une journée. Voilà le calcul que j'ai fait. 😎😎
Cela peut donner des idées à d'autres, c'est grâce à un forumeur de VF que j'ai choisi Londres, auquel je n'aurais pas pensé et je suis ravie de ce choix et n'ai aucun regret (pour l'instant 😄).
PS : en novembre/décembre, le billet A/R par personne Londres/Phoenix et SF/Londres était entre 700 et 800 €, en vol direct, au mois d'août.
Les vols au départ de Paris, avec correspondance, étaient au minimum à 1.100 €/personne ! A 4, le calcul est vite fait même en intégrant l'Eurostar, la nuit d'hôtel à Londres et le reste 🙂
Allez, il faudrait renommer ce topic "ceux qui partent en juillet et de Londres" !

nous on part le 27/06/09 de Paris pour Londres en Eurostar, arrivé on dort à l'hotel et on part le lendemain matin direction San Francisco en vol direct avec Virgin Atlantic.
On fait la même au retour le 29/07 et tout ça pour 900e de vol, 154 e d'Eurostar, 50e Hotel. total 1104e! C'est vraiment le meilleur choix car trop cher de Paris.

Je dois construire mon voyage sachant que je pars tout seul ! Ne pas interpréter une éventuelle insociabilité, je me sens autant à l'aise seul qu'à deux ou en groupe mais mes amis bossent tous à cette période (sans compter ceux touchés par la crise...) et partir seul ne me fait pas peur.
Petite question, est-ce que vous connaissez un site qui regroupe des voyageurs partant seuls ou sur une même destination ? (excepté ce site).
Est-il possible de se greffer à un tour sur place ?

Hum hum... j'ai re-re-rechangé mon itinéraire 😊. Mais cette fois, c'est bon, je n'y touche plus. Il est speed, mais je sais que pour nous, ce n'est pas un problème. A quel Marriott vas-tu ? J'ai passé la soirée d'hier à peser le pour et le contre des 7 ou 8 que j'ai trouvés là-bas. Finalement, tant qu'à faire, j'ai pris celui qui semble le plus beau, le "Desert Springs, A JW Marriott Resort & Spa". Mais c'est à Palm Desert, pas à Palm Springs même, où il n'y a qu'un Courtyard. Comme je ne connais pas la région, je me demandais si Palm Desert était bien aussi, mais bon, comme ce n'est que pour une nuit et que de toute façon, les déplacements se font en voiture...

Celui du Palm Desert et après à LA avant le retour à Paris. Nous avons choisi Palm Desert car ma fille aimerait aller à Joshua Tree Park. Elle changera peut-être d'avis pour se rendre à Joshua en voyant l'hôtel. 😉
Donc a priori, c'est le même. A LA, celui de Hollywood me tentait bien aussi mais j'aurais voulu être sûre d'avoir une chambre avec vue, qui n'est pas garantie quand on réserve sur les points de fidélité. Donc ce sera le Hilton Universal City, très pratique question emplacement.

Oui certainement. Pour LA, au début j'obtais également pour le Hilton, mais le Mariott faisait des promos, alors on a choisi au final le Marriott. Si non, pour visiter Universal on a pris le Sportsmen's Lodge.

J'ai fait 2 séjours au Sportmen's lodge. un bon et un terrible.
Une partie de l'hotel est loué le week-end pour des mariages. Bruit et semi-privatisation de la piscine de rigueur 🏴☠️.
Ce qui est sympa par contre c'est qu'il y a très régulièrement des tournages de séries TV ou production de scénettes destinées à des shows TV.
Le propriétaire a changé il y a 18 mois. Depuis c'est moins bien tant du niveau de l'accueil que de la propreté.
A l'époque il y avait un parking gratuit et des navettes gratuites pour Universal. C'est toujours le cas ?
Bon plan, tu peux diner des supers burgers chez Hamlet à 4-5 miles à l'ouest sur Ventura Bd et tu peux aller ensuite visiter Woodow drive et mulholland drive via Laurel Canyon.
Flûte...on va tomber en plein week-end là-bas. En fait, cela fait 3 fois qu'on nous changeait d'hôtel sur LA. On devait être à Hollywood universal, puis hollywood celebrity (qui par ailleurs ne plaît pas à ma fille), puis hollywood heigh qui était complet. Quand on nous a proposé le Sportsmen'Lodge, nous avons regardé sur leur site qui a l'air pas mal, puis d'après les avis du site tripavisor -dont parlé le Tigre- qui ont l'air de le situé assez bien.
J'avoue que le fait d'avoir une voiture, je n'ai pas pensé à regarder s'il y a des navettes pour Universal. Je note pour ton bon plan, c'est super sympa de ta part. 🙂

Du coup, on fera la fameuse route vers Monument Valley le matin, et on économise la modique somme de 160 dollars !

du 22 au 23 : grand canyon (Flagstaff Little america hôtel)
du 23 au 24 : monument valley (best western Wetherill)
du 24 au 25 : Moab (Moab valley inn)
du 25 au 26 : Bryce canyon (Brice view lodge)
du 26 au 27 et du 27 au 28 : Las Vegas (circus circus)
du 28 au 29 : Death valley (Stovepipe wells village)
du 29 au 30 mmammoth lakes (mammoth mountain inn)
du 30 au 31 Yosemite (Cedar lodge à el portal)
du 31/07 au 01/08 et du 01 au 02/08 : san Francisco (Hôtel Union Square).
C'est notre premier voyage aux USA et nous sommes passés par une agence pour l'itinéraire et les réservations (c'était avant de connaître VF).

Tu sais, même si les hôtels sont réservés, tout peut encore se changer (gratuitement, jusqu'à la veille !). Mon circuit était réservé depuis janvier... et j'en ai déjà changé 4 fois 😊
Puisque tu l'as demandé, je me permets des commentaires :Au Grand Canyon, dommage de ne pas dormir sur place, car Flagstaff est loin et vous fera perdre beaucoup de temps.Le Circus Circus à Las Vegas est vieillissant et très excentré. C'est l'hôtel typiquement proposé par les agences de voyage, car sans doute qu'elles y ont d'excellents prix. Je me demande par contre si ça se répercute sur les clients. Il faut savoir qu'on peut avoir un excellent hôtel en plein sur le Strip pour moins de 100 EUR la nuit à Las Vegas.Je pense que votre enchaînement Moab-Bryce sera très chaud. Vous n'aurez qu'un seul jour à Moab. Et n'oubliez pas de prendre la BW12 entre Torrey et Bryce, magnifique ! (moralité : ne suivez pas le GPS 😉)
Voilà, si ça peut vous inspirer, je dirais de ne pas hésiter à contacter votre agence et à les "secouer" pour qu'ils changent les réservations.

Oh tu sais, c'est sans regrets finalement. C'est sûr que ça aurait été sympa de se dire qu'on avait dormi là, mais nous assisterons de toute façon au coucher du soleil juste à côté de l'hôtel, et le matin, nous y repasserons en direction du GC. Je pense que le fameux Swingin Grill de Mexican Hat sera plus sympa le 4 juillet. 🙂

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
