Ma réponse, mon point de vue :
Comme beaucoup de gens recommandaient ce motel sur VF, je l'ai essayé il y a environ 1 an pour un séjour de 4 ou 5 nuits.
Et je n'ai pas été emballé du tout. Je trouve que dans la même gamme de prix, le Travelodge qui est juste en face de l'autre coté de la rue est plus sans surprise (bien que très basique).
Inconvénient du Page Boy Motel (si on réserve les chambres les moins chères) : Chambre ultra petite, et surtout quasiment aucun rangement type armoire, étagères, tiroirs, ce qui pose pb quand on reste quelques jours. Peut-être que les chambres plus chères sont mieux pourvues en rangement. La clim fait un bruit d'avion à réaction. Le petit déjeuner est ultra basique (mais au Travelodge c'est à peine mieux). Et ma plus grosse déception : le wifi etant faible, si on veut surfer, on doit se mettre sur un siège juste derrière la réception (qui ferme vers 20h !) ; jusque là, pas de pb ; mais vers 23h (mon heure), derrière la réception, tout est désert à cette heure, et j'étais entouré de rats noirs énormes qui me tournaient autour. Tous les soirs. Assez répugnant.
La piscine est petite mais sympa (plus qu'au travelodge où elle est au milieu du parking), pas toujours très propre, mais si agréable le soir après une journée de randonnée. Si on a une chambre au RDC (qui donc a une terrasse sur la piscine), c'est très agréable de picniquer dehors le soir (1/ les rats ne sont pas encore de sortie 2/ il y a beaucoup de " restau take-out" dans le coin (une pizza Hut en face).
Je ne pense pas qu'il y ait une laverie, mais on peut tjs utiliser celle du Travelodge, en face.
Par contre, ils sont sympas et arrangeants à la réception (quand elle est ouverte).
Inconvénient du Travelodge : en 1er lieu, les Français. Beaucoup de bus de tours organisés français y font étape, et ceux ci nous font honte. En particulier au pd (déjà pas très fourni), ils font une razzia sur tout ce qui se mange (malgrè les affiches interdisant de faire des réserves). Et c'est systématique tous les matins. Tant pis pour les autres. Avec des commentaires bruyants (en Français dans le texte) qui ne nous font pas honneur.
Les chambres sont assez vastes, mais sombres. Pas de balcon ou terrasse.
Dans la même catègorie (économique), on peut placer le Rodeway Inn. Mais plutôt plus cher, et encore moins bien. Et staff épouvantable. A proscrire donc.
Dans la classe au dessus (à retenir si ta tigresse sort (trop) souvent les griffes), mais encore très abordables :
Le Holiday Inn, ou le Day's Inn (ce dernier en face du Walmart), mais qui ne sont pas au centre près des restau ou du Safeway.
Mon préféré finalement dans cette classe (dite "un peu mieux") est le Quality Inn, proche des Page Boy ou Travelodge.
Inconvénient : les Indiens qui le gèrent sont très désagrééables, et d'années en années ça ne s'arrange pas (mais au delà du check-in ou check-out, on évite d'avoir à faire à eux) . Autre point <0 : il y a un nombre de Français incroyable (toujours aussi "provisionneurs" au pd, avec commentaires bruyants et lamentables en Français (mais là c'est moins grave, car le pd est très bien fourni et renouvelé).
Avantages donc du Q.I. : le pd, bon, varié, en grande quantité. La piscine, avec de la verdure, pas désagréable, bien que pas grande. Les chambres avec balcon sont assez grandes et claires (en prendre une, un peu plus chère, avec vue sue le lac, pour les sunsets les soirs où on ne va pas à Alstrom Point 😉). Laverie (petite). Bon wifi. Une table dehors, bien à l'ombre sous un arbre épais pour picniquer le midi si on est en ville (on peut l'utiliser même les fois où on n'est pas client).
Dans cette même catégories, plusieurs BW, mais je ne les ai jamais essayés, donc pas d'avis.
En résumé :
- seul, je vais plutôt au Travelodge,
- accompagné, je préfère le Q.I., en réservant chambre avec vue sur le lac.

Je me sens obligé d'apporter qques xplications.
Je suis allé au PBM en 2009 et j'ai bien aimé, chambre impeccable, vu sur le jardin, accueil sympa ( le reste et notamment le breakfast ne me concernant pas je ne peux rien en dire )
Hier en trainant sur Tripdvisor, je suis tombé sur les commentaires qui allument joyeusement cet hotel, et même en tentant de faire la part des choses puisqu'il ya tjs un pénible qui trouve que la moquette est vieille ou que le lavabo à un rayure, je me suis demandé si depuis juin 2009 les proprio n'avait pas changé ...
Pour moi aussi c'était en Aout 2009.
Et le point vraiment négatif, était les gros rats qui trainaient partout la nuit.
Peut-être que plus tôt en saison, ils n'étaient pas encore là.
Mais pour un Tigre, un rat, c'est bon, plein de vitamines, et ça se croque !

Près du Quality In at Lake il y a aussi le Courtyard où nous avons séjourné.
Nous avions été vexé que la réceptionniste ne veuille pas nous donner la chambre avant 15 heures (elle n'a même pas fait l'effort de regarder si elle était déjà faite). Par conséquent lorsque nous sommes revenus à 15h il y avait beaucoup de monde.
Sinon l'hôtel était correct. Cookies, soda à volonté, petit déjeuner très bon et restaurant correct.
Il y avait bien des zouaves à la piscine (pas très grande) mais j'ai l'impression que c'est le cas de tous les hôtels à Page.
Comme Courtyard est une chaine moins connue sur notre continent (et moins proposée par les bookers en ligne) il y a peut-être un peu moins de Français. Je ne sais pas si c'est un argument pour toi 😉

Alors j'arrive un soir à Holbrook.
Le lendemain je pars vers Tucson. GM ( google map) donne 5h30 de route ... apparement y'a rien de spécial à voir en route.
Mettons qu'on parte à 7h00 ça nous fait arriver à 13h00 enfin disons 1.00pm
Début d'aprés midi, chaleur, soleil plombant ... moment idéal pour rien ... C'est ballot ... 😕 mais bon, mettons qu'on aille à Saguaro voir les cactus comme ça, ça c'est fait
Nuit à Tucson, lendemain matin le Sonora Desert Museum où apparemment on passe tranquille la matinée.
Et c'est là qu'à priori ça ce gate, parce que si on part à 12.00am on arrivera à White Sands vers 6.00pm hors, mi sept le sunset c'est à 19.00pm ... z'en dites quoi ? 😐😐
Donc, si je résume tous tes désirs 😉, tu enchaînes:

- Tucson > Las Cruces (White Sands)
- Las Cruces > Albuquerque - Santa Fe

Mets un peu tout ça en tableau avec les jours dont tu disposes.... mais je crois bien qu'il va te falloir aller puiser 1 jour ou 2 supplémentaires, ds le reste du périple, pour pouvoir faire ta boucle ds le Nouveau-Mexique à rythme acceptable pour un être humain (et encore tu rates Petrified Forest/Painted Desert?, la région de Sedona, Apache Trail, les autres visites de Tucson, Tombstone, Chiricahua NM, les nombreux musées d'aviation, Carlsbad Caverns, Carrizozo😉, les petroglyphs de Three Rivers et d'Albuquerque, Pueblo Acoma, Tent Rocks, Santa Fe, Taos, Chaco Canyon...
En fait, tu quittes Holbrook... Tu te tapes une longue route uniquement pour White Sands..... Puis tu remontes à hauteur de Holbrook pour les visites de Bisti & Co... Tu y tiens tant que çà à ce désert de gypse??....(c'est vrai que c'est assez unique😏). Pourvu que le Jour J, il n'y ait ni vent, ni tirs de missiles....que le sunset soit resplendissant... et que ton appareil photos ne se dérègle pas ds tout ce paysage blanc 😎

Tu reviens enfin sur le droit chemin 😇. Un petit Salt Lake City - Yellowstone - Devil's Tower (ça te dit pas les rencontres du 3ème type???) - Mount Rushmore - Badlands (à défaut de chapi chapo au Nouveau Mexique 😉 tu en aurais à visiter des Badlands et en plus il y a une route goudronnée et tu as pas besoin du GPS de rando 😛) ça va bien finir par te titiller.

En relisant les avis sur le Page Boy Motel sur TripA. j'ai noté que si avant 2010 ils étaient globalement bon, à partir de 2010 ils devenaient quasi exclusivement mauvais et j'ai peut être trouvé une raison : en 2009 la manager était Brenda Dominick alors que maintenant c'est Ann Marie Warren ... ce qui pourrait effectivement accréditer un certain changement de gestion du motel ...
Encore un petit conseil ou votre avis sur la fin du trip :
Le jeudi soir je suis à Torrey et le mercredi matin suivant je décolle de Vegas.
Disons que si j'arrive à Vegas le lundi dans/en fin de l'après midi c'est bien
Donc comment aménageriez vous le temps entre vendredi matin et lundi aprés midi entre Torrey et Vegas ?

Pour la nuit à Escalante, ça me paraissait bien car il me semble que tu as prévu pas mal de trucs sur Hole In The Rock. Donc tu fais ça dans l'après-midi et au soleil couchant tu fais Devil's Garden. Puis après tu vas manger les meilleures pizzas de l'Ouest à Escalante Outfitter. Le Circle D Motel est d'un super rapport qualité prix pour se loger.
Pour Valley Of Fire, à faire très tôt le matin ou tard dans l'après-midi pour pas que ta femme rôtisse 😏.
Maintenant, Zion ou pas Zion? De toute façon, tu pourrais passer une semaine du côté d'Escalante tellement il y a de choses à faire donc au pire tu demandes à Sedonax des tuyaux et tu fais 2 nuits à Escalante.
En fait, je vais peut être dire une co**erie de plus mais je me demande si ça parait envisageable depuis Tropic de repartir pour une journée sur Page ...

Dimanche : Tropic/ Page
Lundi : Page --> Traversée simple de Zion --> Valley of Fire --> Vegas
Bah si tu y passes déjà en descendant au New Mexico, je vois pas pourquoi tu y repasserais au retour. Soit tu gardes tout pour l'aller, soit tout pour le retour mais partager ça en deux ne me semble pas l'idée du siècle 😊

Classic itinerary: arrival in Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Clearwater, Whistler, Vancouver Island, departure from Vancouver.
I know you can’t see into the future any better than I can, so I’m obviously not asking what the wildfire situation will be like in a month...
But if any of you could let me know if, CURRENTLY, there are major difficulties—not just for locals, of course, but for tourists as well?
We’re hesitating between taking the chance or canceling what we still can.
We’re not young anymore and don’t have the flexibility we once did...

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:

- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!
