Hi there! Nothing complicated—the road is good and there’s hardly any traffic. The hostel is marked with a blue sign, then when you reach the village, another sign and just a few “500” m… and you’re there! On the way back, we took the Tata–Igherm road… absolutely stunning! Happy travels! Francia

Hi, If the road has been repaired, that’s great because I think it was really damaged by the rains and had become almost impassable. So, good news for a future trip. Thanks.

SO Songhai73 Globetrotter ·
hi there it's possible, since there are a lot of bridges under construction, and the same goes for many other roads in Morocco! but everything is still passable! lots of sunshine here! have a great trip francia

Yes, I had booked well in advance by email, but I think a month before is enough; that way you're sure to have a spot. Skoura has a magnificent palm grove, some superb Kasbahs, including Mohammed's, but it's mainly a good starting point for exploring the region in all directions: the Dades and Todra valleys and gorges, the Valley of Roses, the almond groves, Boutharar, the Draa Valley, etc. It all depends on how much time you have...

Good evening, Could you tell me if there’s a bank in SKOURA, or should I exchange my euros before arriving? Thanks.
DANY
SO Songhai73 Globetrotter ·
hi You have to change at Ouarzazate! It's on the way, or at the airport when you arrive! francia

All good, thanks.

TR Trostang Globetrotter ·
You can obviously exchange your money in Ouarzazate, but it’s also possible in Skoura—there’s a bank on the main street. So no worries!
GW Gwenbis Regular ·
When I went to Skoura some time ago, there was only one bank under construction, and the post office didn’t exchange currency. We really liked the palm grove and the surrounding area.
DA Danilo69 Regular ·
So we have the choice, thanks to you all.
DANY
JE Jeeaan Globetrotter ·
I confirm, Skoura now has a bank where you can exchange currency. I’ve done it!
GW Gwenbis Regular ·
So the work is finished! Great!
DA Danilo69 Regular ·
We’ll soon have the pleasure of seeing all that. Have a good evening.

We're planning to go to Morocco at the end of September. We're thinking about a new itinerary that definitely includes a stop in Skoura.
TR Trostang Globetrotter ·
Do stop by the Ouzoud waterfalls on your way.
DA Danilo69 Regular ·
We’re planning to go either toward the Dades Valley and Skoura or on our way back to Marrakech. Does it make any difference? Thanks!

At Ait Benhadou (a stunning site), some people really insisted on selling us desert excursions. They’re persistent! But we stood our ground—our itinerary was set, and we stuck to it. No regrets, just beauty!

You’ve got to tell all these people that you’ve booked and paid for everything, and they’ll back off... otherwise, they’ll keep insisting...

Not all the work is finished; we were surprised to see that many houses have been under construction for a long time and will remain so for quite a while yet.

Definitely, it's best to avoid saying it's your "first time in Morocco."

Hi Daniel, You know this region well—could you tell us if we’re guaranteed to see the waterfalls flowing in autumn or not? Thanks.
MI Milorde Regular ·
Hi there, In April, there was a lot of water. And these are waterfalls that never dry up at any time of the year, from what I was told.
VE Vero3000 Regular ·
I’ve always seen water in the Ouzoud waterfalls, whether it’s spring or autumn... I haven’t heard of them ever drying up. That would be really unusual!
MI Milorde Regular ·
That’s what we were told there.
FL Flo450 Regular ·
Thanks to both of you for your replies.

The waterfalls are beautiful, but it doesn’t take long to see everything—we were done in 2 hours.
MA Mariespagne Globetrotter ·
I went to the Ourika waterfalls; there are seven of them. Don’t bother with the first two—they’re really tough and too touristy. Head straight to the 4th one, and from there, you’ll get a view of the first four. I made it all the way to the 5th; it was stunning. For those who are more adventurous and used to hiking, going up to the 7th must be even more amazing.

And how much time should you spend exploring it?
SOJU
MA Mariespagne Globetrotter ·
I took my time, stopping often to rest and soak in the scenery... It took me 5 hours round trip (to get to the 7th one, allow an extra 1.5 hours). Now, someone who walks well can do it in 3-4 hours max. A guide can save you time, but make sure you find a good one (a real one).... To get to the base, it depends on whether you have your own transportation or if you're taking the bus. Let me know, and I’ll give you the details. Best regards

TR Trostang Globetrotter ·
It's a really nice walk when it's not too crowded.
MA Mariespagne Globetrotter ·
Right up to the second waterfall, it's crowded because that's where the coaches drop off the tourists. That's why I went straight to the fourth one. But if you're staying overnight, you can do the first two after the tourist rush. Although the path is trickier than the one I took (climbing a ladder)... Either way, all this nature is absolutely stunning. http://voyageforum.com/forum/rencontre_avec_berberes_dans_haut-atlas_marocain_D6022883/ (my travel journal) Best regards, Marie

it's a nice walk just a stone's throw from MARRAKECH.

1H BY BUS then shared taxi to the waterfalls.....

We also tried the red beetroot soup with orange—really good too. And the homemade pomegranate juice was amazing!

We only saw the pomegranates in the garden... all green... On the other hand, we tasted some tiny apples and tiny pears from the garden, about the size of a plum, no bigger, but really good.

Hi, Apart from apples and pears, what other fruits might we find in the markets in early October? Will we be in time for dates? Thanks.
