Hello François, and the new team!

Like many others, I’m overjoyed to hear that VoyageForum is reopening! I’ve been waiting hopefully for this, and it’s wonderful that it’s finally happening!

I just couldn’t bring myself to actively participate in other French-language travel forums—their format and way of doing things never appealed to me as much. I really hope that VF’s structure, categories, and interface won’t change too much despite the handover, because I’m very attached to them. Through thick and thin, the site has held strong—it’s amazing!

In a previous message, François mentioned that there were positions to fill ahead of the reopening, including moderators...

I’ve been eagerly waiting for this and hoping to send in my CV.

Now, after reading the latest message, it seems like the team is already fully formed. But are there still a few spots left to fill?

I’ve been a VF member for 20 years (since 2004). I’d love to contribute to this wonderful adventure as a moderator if VF would trust me with the role. If the team is open to reviewing it, I’m ready to send my CV. Could you let me know the next steps?

Best regards, Marine/eversmile

Hi Marine,

A huge thank you for your kind words on VoyageForum! 🙂

I couldn’t bring myself to actively participate in other French-speaking travel forums, as their operation and format don’t appeal to me as much. I hope that VF’s operation, categories, and interface—despite the passing of the torch—won’t change, because I’m very attached to it

I often remind the new team how important it is to make changes to the site very gradually so as not to disrupt long-time members. Your comment will help me convince them... 😉 That said, apart from a few design tweaks, the site shouldn’t see any major changes to its operation, categories, or interface.

Regarding your wish to join the moderator team, I invite you to submit your CV via the “Contact” page at the bottom of the site’s pages. The team will likely need new moderators in 2025. So, who knows...? 🙂

Thanks again for your kind words! 🙂

Best regards,

François

Hi François,

Thanks for your reply. 😊

As for changes to the "design," what should we expect? Personally, I hope there’ll never be scrolling banners or flashing images—those kinds of aggressive visual gimmicks that can be tough for sensitive people. Stuff like that, which can trigger seizures or discomfort, should absolutely be avoided so no one feels excluded or put off. I hope the site stays visually clean and static.

I think we’d all just love for the site to work like it used to—after all these years of disruptions and waiting, to get back our comfort zone in VF.

For my part, I was also really looking forward to being able to send private messages (seems to be working now), but especially to send a private message to VoyageForum because I had something personal to share with you, François. Will this feature be reactivated soon?

As you suggested, I sent my CV. 😊

Looking forward to reading you again, Best regards, Marine

Hi Always-Smiling, 🙂

You’re worried about changes that might affect the vibe. We’ve seen a few over the past twenty years—we grumbled, then we adapted. Some evolutions were necessary in the creator’s eyes, disrupting our comfort zone, but look at this beautiful baby now. So much so that, like Doliprane, an American company snapped it up (MyAtlas Group—totally American, right? ).

What I care about is the essence, the spirit of the place. There’s a freedom of expression and tone here, a diversity of opinions, perspectives, and contributions you’d never find on other platforms like this. But it seems to me these qualities are tied to the founder’s personality.

Hi, Oh, I didn’t get the news—this is the only forum I really liked... Especially the bike travel section. I’ve been a member for 20 years next month—time flies! Off I go to the bike section!! Long live the new team!!! 💙🚴‍♂️❤️

Hello Always-Smiling, 🙂

Or "always-smiling"?

Or "qui-souris-toujours"?

In the subjunctive? Qui-sourit-toujours: as a nickname, this spelling is correct, but I’d write « Toi qui ris... de veau » indeed.

Or "who-always-smiles"?

In the subjunctive? Who-always-smiles: as a nickname, this spelling is correct, but I’d write « You who laugh... veal-style ».

In the past perfect, obviously!

When’s the next travel journal coming? Fans of modern literature are getting impatient. Otherwise, we’ll have to rename Voyajou to Voyajnomore
