Some magical photos here.

( Just a reminder that white doesn’t always mean snow! )

Hey Agnes

It’s high-key, a photography technique based on a dominance of light tones through overexposure. It requires some solid knowledge and specific gear (flashes, light modifiers, reflectors, tripods...). You can also create a high-key photo in post-processing. This technique is often used in wildlife photography (like in Jérémie Villet’s example) or for studio portraits.

But I think for your contest, we’ll settle for at least 60% white in the image, right? 😉

Just back from a snowy vacation? 😏

I’ve got two books by Jérémie Villet. I really admire what he does, even if I think he’s a bit crazy—going to extremes to get THE shot. Not sure if you’ve seen the documentary he made, but it was amazing.

Absolutely Kate, though Jérémie Villet almost never post-processes his photos. He mainly uses overexposure and relies on the surrounding elements (the snow).

Hi Kate,

Of course, the photos don’t have to look anything like Jérémie Villet’s at all! !😉

White that dominates, stands out, or catches the eye! And not black and white.

I won’t be counting percentages. 🙂

Hi Isabelle,

The snowy vacation already feels a little distant... Well, just 15 days ago...

At first, I thought about a snow-only topic, but I found it too restrictive—not open enough for everyone.

Many countries would’ve been immediately ruled out, along with fans of warm weather...

So I kept the snow theme but opened it up to anything white.

About Jérémie Villet, I also saw the documentary. His photos are absolutely mesmerizing! But how many hours of waiting behind them—and in what conditions! I especially love when the animal is white too.

Hello Agnès, Yes, he mostly goes in extreme conditions... when everything is white and icy.

For white animals, you should also head to cold countries 🤪, polar bears, Arctic hares, Arctic foxes with their winter coats... those animals aren’t for me 🙁

Anyway, congrats on your win.

Or those in Greece... Oops! A village on a cliff plunging into the sea 🙂

A little promo for Puy de Dôme even if the white is slightly patchy:

The sculpture?

Yes! But now, the white has turned to gray....😇

And the clouds??

AT Attila Globetrotter ·
As long as they stay nice and white, yeah!

Yours are turning a bit gray too, aren't they?
