For a French traveler, Italy is an excellent destination. I assume it’s the same for a Québécois. Since your question is pretty broad, what specific areas are you looking for feedback on?

Italy is a magnificent country with exceptional cultural riches. I go there very often and never get tired of it. But it’s a large country, and from North to South, there are many regions with different attractions. Lots of painting museums, among other things—remarkable architectural monuments (churches, cathedrals, palaces, etc.), ancient cities (Venice, Siena, Florence), and extraordinary archaeological sites (Pompeii, Rome, Paestum, etc.). People usually visit Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Tuscany, Lazio and Rome, as well as Campania (Naples), Puglia, and Sicily...

Practically speaking, Italians are generally pleasant and friendly, and trains and other means of transport work well (especially in the north). In heavily touristed areas, watch out for pickpockets—they’re very skilled.

Hello Quebec!!! What will your itinerary be?...... because Italy is pretty huge and diverse. The regions offer different landscapes. Are you more interested in the country's culture or nature? Will you be traveling by car or bus? All these questions so I can help you better. See you soon!!

Hi there, Tell us your travel dates and how long you're going for, plus what you're interested in (cities, landmarks, museums, nature). There’s so much to see in Italy that your question is a bit too vague... Having said that, Venice seems like an unparalleled wonder to me, even if you just wander around. Since I was there last October, I’ve got a few tips on that if you’d like! [;)]

everything depends on where you want to travel in Italy. Yeah, as mentioned, the country’s pretty big. Northern Italy is different from the South. Personally, I’d recommend Northern Italy, especially the lakes—Lake Como in particular.

Thanks for your replies! It’s a package trip. I’d love to know what the weather’s like in October and how to dress for comfort. Also, what’s the cost of meals like? Thanks!

Thanks for your replies. It’s a package tour. I’d like to know about the weather in October and how to dress for comfort. Also, the cost of meals. Thanks!

The weather will depend on where you stay. It won’t be too cold, don’t worry. Usually between 10°C and 21°C.

For meals, it varies. A simple pizza in Naples will cost around 9–10 €, while the same pizza in Capri will be 18–20 €. Budget between 20 and 30 € per person, depending on the place. Florence, for example, is pricier than Naples.

Here’s a restaurant menu from the Ligurian Coast for reference:

Hi Marielle, I can confirm what Mitch341 wrote about the temperature. For rainfall, October is the second wettest month (after November) on the Mediterranean side (from the Gulf of Genoa down to Rome). I don’t know about other areas. These are long-term averages; speaking from experience, I’ve often traveled to Italy in September. The two times my trip extended into October, the long-term averages held true. That said, with a bit of luck, it might not be too bad. Any potential hassle really depends on the activities planned in your organized trip.

Have a great trip!
