Costa Cruise Spa Access: how to book?

Hi everyone,

Can anyone give me some info about this Spa Access day? We traveled with Costa until 2017, and back then, spa access wasn’t just for a day—it was for the entire cruise if you were staying in a suite... Times change, I guess. When I check MY COSTA, under Thermal Space Access Day appointments, it’s possible to book every day, even at sea, but with payment required on the site. Do we need to book this day on board if we want to take advantage of the free day? Or do we book it on the site and the freebie is applied automatically? Are sea days included in this case? Since 2017, we’ve been traveling with MSC YC, but this time, we’re going as a family with kids and grandkids, so the YC is a bit too much of a luxury and not really suitable for 3 kids.

Thanks for any feedback!

Hi Gilberte, To take advantage of it, just go to the reception desk—the ship must be docked, as you can’t use it during a day at sea. I don’t know if they offer a discount that includes a free day. Have a great cruise!

hello and thank you so much for your reply! I just saw your message—I’m not sure how I missed it. I just checked my PURCHASED SERVICES documents, and the note "THERMACC 1 day free" is indeed added for all 4 of us traveling in the two reserved suites. However, no matter how much I look, there’s no restriction mentioned anywhere for sea days. But since my daughter and I really want to take advantage of this sea day to go to the spa, do you think we should book this day in advance on MY COSTA, or is the spa fully booked on sea days if we wait to reserve at embarkation? I’d love to hear any advice from fellow cruisers... Best regards.

hi there, I’ve been traveling with Costa for over 15 years, and apart from in Samsara cabins, I’ve never had free access to the spa for the entire cruise. Anyway, you won’t get access to the spa on a sea day—they reserve that for paying guests. ` I even had a situation once where we wanted to access the spa while the ship was doing loops in front of Réunion because of the yellow vests preventing us from docking. The spa staff refused to let us in, arguing that technically the ship was at sea (even though it was supposed to be docked that day)... oh well. Also, if you book a (paid) access for the whole cruise, you’ll pay full price—don’t expect a discount for your free day. To take advantage of it, no need to book—just show up on a port day and mention it’s your free day. If you want to go on a sea day, you’ll have to pay for a day pass. happy cruising

Hello and thank you for your reply. Actually, we’ve traveled a lot in SAMSARA class, which I loved because there was also the SAMSARA restaurant that suited me perfectly. However, we also traveled on the DIADEMA in a suite, and it seemed to me that we had access to the SPA throughout the cruise. By the way, do SAMSARA cabins or suites still exist?

Back to the sea-day access—I’ve gone through everything, and nowhere does it say there’s a restriction. I also emailed COSTA, who told me I just need to go to reception and ask for access, and that the paid access on MY COSTA is a system error!!!!! On the cruise tickets, under PRODUCTS PURCHASED, it says: 1 DAY ACCESS FREE THERMAL AREA, so the contract should normally be respected.

I don’t want to get upset about this—I’ll book for two people on the sea day (but the new MY COSTA isn’t working until 4/21, and after that?). We’ll go to the spa for two days. Do you know if the thermal area gets crowded on sea days? In fact, we’ve been traveling with YC for 7 years, and this issue never came up. We’re giving COSTA another try this year because we’re traveling with 7 family members, including 3 kids, and MSC really isn’t competitive for kids compared to COSTA (AUREA is fully priced for kids who don’t get the drink package or, of course, access to the thermal area), and there’s no advantage to traveling in a suite—rather a disadvantage since the glass bay window is fixed. Best regards, Gilberte
