Hi there, I’m planning a 15-day trip to Vietnam from December 15th to December 31st. There’ll be 6 adults and one little one who’s 18 months old. Would you recommend staying in the North or trying to cover both the North and South? We prefer nature and areas that aren’t too touristy. Any great tips? Thanks for your help! I’d like to book the flight tickets soon, and I’m not sure if it’s better to change airports for the arrival and return. Thanks! 😊

Even though I returned from 3 weeks in Vietnam just a month ago, I definitely don’t consider myself an expert on the country, and I think others could give you better advice.

Still, for a 15-day trip, I’d suggest sticking to just one region. In the north, there’s already plenty to see. I think the weather there is usually dry in December, though it might be cool or even cold in the mountains near the Chinese border (like Sa Pa or Ha Giang), which is a stunning area (amazing nature). I’m also not the best person to recommend off-the-beaten-path spots, since I’ll admit I visited a lot of places considered "must-sees" (Ha Long Bay on land, Ha Long Bay, Hanoi, Ha Giang, Sa Pa)—and all of those are pretty touristy. That said, I also went to Cao Bang, where few travelers go, and it was really nice!

Good luck with your planning!
