Feedback on Sri Lanka itinerary

Hi there, how are you traveling? By bus? By car? If it's by bus and tuk-tuk, skip Jaffna and Kalpitiya (unless you're into kite surfing, but 3 days isn't much!) You can't see everything in 15 days anyway. A tip: Take your time! You’ve got to choose and set limits if you want your trip to be a success :) P.S: I’d go with the second option, dropping Jaffna and Kalpitiya.

I prefer the second itinerary—it’s closer to what I did. Still, here are my thoughts:

What time do you arrive in Negombo? If it’s not too late (I arrived in the morning), you can head straight to Anuradhapura. Negombo isn’t that interesting.

Two days in Jaffna (so, two nights) is too short. You need at least two full days (three nights): one for the islands and one for the Point Pedro area.

I don’t see the point of spending two days in Sigiriya and one day in Dambulla—they’re only 16 km apart. Stay in one place (Sigiriya is way nicer). Maybe you can visit Dambulla Temple when leaving Sigiriya and continue to Kandy the same day—it could save you some time.

I’m not sure if three days in Galle is necessary. The old town is great, but you can see it in half a day max. I’m not really a beach person, though, so I’m not the best one to ask about seaside spots.

Thanks for your feedback! We finally decided to start our trip in the North with a stop in Kalpitiya to recover from the flight that arrives early in the morning. We’ve planned 3 nights in Jaffna. Then we’ll head back south via Anuradhapura - Dambulla - Kandy - Sigiriya Rock, of course - the Knuckles range with 1 or 2 treks - and so on... ending with 3 nights in Unawatuna for swimming and relaxing! Maybe a tuk-tuk tour of Colombo before our 10 PM flight! Can’t wait!! Thanks again
