Hi, what are the easiest ways to get back from Nordkapp without pedaling— train, boat, or plane? Has anyone already done this? Thanks for sharing your tips!

Hi, if you want to come back by train, which takes time, it's a good idea to get an Interrail pass. Then you need to check if Norwegian trains accept bikes. Otherwise, look into leaving from Finland—there's a boat from Helsinki to Travemünde in Germany.

Good evening Michel,

Based on my research, once you arrive at North Cape, you're 31 km from Honningsvåg Airport in Norway. Widerøe operates small planes (Dash 8) from there to Tromsø. From Tromsø, regular flights to Oslo or France are available. Widerøe accepts touring bikes in the hold, but with strict conditions due to the small size of their Dash 8 aircraft. Mandatory packaging: The bike must be packed in a suitable transport bag, a hard case, or a bike box. The handlebars must be turned parallel to the frame, pedals removed, and tires slightly deflated. Essential prior booking: Since the Dash 8's hold is narrow, the number of bike spots per flight is very limited. You must declare and add the bike (Special Baggage / Bicycle) when booking or in advance on their website. Weight and fees: The standard weight limit for the packed bike is usually 23 kg (specific sports equipment fees start at around ~350-400 NOK / about 30-35 € per leg). Since Honningsvåg Airport is tiny, get a lightweight soft bag or try to find a bike box at a sports shop in Honningsvåg before your flight.

It might already be too late for your return trip, but here’s the link to a video that shows how to pack a bike with minimal hassle and maximum ease for traveling with it on trains, planes, buses, etc.: https://youtu.be/_GDJi-GqmkM

We're only going in late spring, end of April/early May. Thanks for the video! Normally, when we take larger planes, we deflate the tires, remove the front wheel, lower the seat, and wrap everything in pallet wrap, protecting the sensitive parts, and add a handle made of rope to carry them. But apparently, the nearest airport only has small planes???

Just FYI, I did almost the exact opposite of what you're planning; here's the link to my travel journal. https://depuislartique.blogspot.com/search/label/Artique. Hope it helps you avoid making the same mistakes I did.

Hi everyone,

This is just part of the answer, but I discovered this initiative (100% free) that lets you plan bike + train trips: https://velotrain.fr

You can find the corresponding trains that accept bikes for now in France. This way, you don’t need a car.
